Friend had that (adjustable diff) in their old Turbo Technics Sierra XR4x4. It had 450bhp, but 600ftlb of torque so any adjustment you could get was helpful. Mentalist car. 3L twin turbo with piggyback. All panels fibreglass. Kat body kit. Cosworth style rear wing before cosworth one existed. Konis. Boost selector. Rocketship. Sold it when leaded petrol ceased to become an option.

Who did he sell it to?? Batman?? That is an insane set-up.

I have yet to get right in about the real detail of the upgrades. Seeing a Clio rip away from my Ferrari when I have put hours of work into it is quite disheartening most folk just seem to be battering every power increasing component they can into there cars then saying a wee prayer before each race hoping it stays on the road

It is good to know that slight modifications CAB make a difference though, for example... racing an event last night and it was obvious from the first race that I would have to improve the acceleration on my Jaguar to compete with a simlairly classed Skyline. My top speed got me through the 6 lap Speedway event but there was no way I was going to win on a course that required lots of speed changes and acceleration while racing this skyline. So a quick upgrade to the transmission, reduce the gear ratio to get some extra kick off the line and corners and I blow the Skyline away with ease... historically I would probably have rigged my Jag up to the hilt with all sorts of mental stuff but using this subtle change felt so much more rewarding when I got the gold in the remaining 2 races.

What happened to the Clio in the corners? Was it in the same class as your ferrari?

(and he sold the sierra to someone who could afford to convert it to unleaded. Every time I went in it, it blew up eventually and we had to be towed home. Normally blew the head gasket, even though it was some uber custom metal jobbie with skimmed super smooth head and block.)

Sounds like it wouldn't have been out of place in Motorstorm... sit in 4th gear too long and BOOM

The Clio was in the S class and actually had a higher PI than my S class Ferrari... I was having a wee laugh to myself as I saw it sitting on the starting grid, but that was soon wiped off my face when he got to the first corner in Lagune Seca before I had even slipped into 2nd gear.

The cornering on it wasn't great, but he knew how to drive it and with the acceleration at such a ridiculous level he didnt really need to concern himself with the racing line as much as the rest of us. It was a case of slow right down, aim front of car at next corner, GO.

And before I launch an official complaint with Turn 10 and Microsoft I would like to explore the facts around a Clio being able to rip the coont out of a tuned up Ferrari F430, is this actually feasible?? Or did this guy get his Clio from NASA??

I've been doing this a lot recently, and not just on the endurance races, as I can't be bothered driving in any of the races that are longer than 7 laps, particularly the New York, Silverstone and Laguna Seca tracks which I find incredibly boring.

If I am being honest thats how I feel at the minute too with the game. It's great when playing online with friends but is becoming dull offline (for me anyway). I am sure it will change though as I intend to stick with it and try to get to level 50 etc etc

Was doing some races last night, I think it was the 350bhp series with my beastly Evo VIII which weights in at B700 with 349bhp. Upgraded and tuned to perfection BUT I could not win the race on the oval. 6 laps I think it was, I would scream ahead off the starting line, just like the car does in every race, the acceleration is mind blowing but my top speed was slightly slower than the other cars and by the 3rd lap of me lapping perfectly they had caught up. Cue many many attempts of me trying to hold several cars off at once while still keeping my lead all ending in tears as someone clips me and I fly into the barriers at 150MPH. I just don't know how to win this race. I've tried adjusting the gear ratios to get a higher top speed and less acceleration as it's not needed but that wasn't even working either.

It just shows how in depth the game is though that this monster of a car I have that runs rings round the car in other races struggles so much with this one!

                Still lovin it though.

                  I know what you mean.

To be honest i find it a bit annoying that driving games these days get longer as opposed to more difficult. If you think about it, the R1 cars are probably easier to drive than the S class ones a lot of the time. Fair enough make the races a but longer to tally with the shorter lap times, but tacking on loads of laps for the sake of it is a little bit cheap.

Im not slating this game in particular though. Just a comment on most racers nowadays. I do intend to reach level 50 on this mind.

Anyone know anything about the secret acheivements? Ive not had any myself yet.

The secret achievements are all about

                    collecting the cars

For me PGR3 had this length / difficulty balance just right. Sure it added in a few more laps but it focussed more on the quality of your opponentns and the track itself rather then the length of race.

Finishing the Nurburgring with a Gold rank was one of the best achievements I have ever had on the 360, took ages, was such a hard track cause you had to push yourself to the limit but it didnt drag on like some ofthese enduracne races tend to.

Not taking anything away from Forza thoug, I think it is class!!

Adjust your final gear ratio, Rossco. Put in a higher ratio final drive ratio to increase your top speed, at the expense of acceleration. Sounds like you have loads to spare so that shouldn't be an issue.

Loads of people were putting lower ratio final gears on the S2000 owners forum when I had one, to help get the 0-60 below 6 seconds. I don't need to worry about that thee days though. I do want to get the Elise's nearer four point zero which is where my impending bolt-on supercharger will come in.

                        Anyway back to Forza!

Tried that already dude, and it took the top speed from 167mph to 170 after tweaking it for ages to see the best I could get it.

I've given in and now have hired M. Rossi to do the race for me, 2 laps in and he's already doing better than me somehow. The other cars are closing in on him but we shall see if he holds them off!!

                          Edit: The loser came third!!!

I dont know how to win this race, its the only car I have capable too!

I've done all of the BHP Limited series with the Lotus Exige, it really behaves well with different upgrades, and you can get it very close to the BHP limit each time. I think the last one I did was the 450bhp.

Well interestingly enough, I just bought one of those last night for the lightweight series and I'm loving it so I may use that.

But also, I just won a meaty Skyline GT-R V-Spec II Nur, the one I've been wanting for a while. Got it for reaching Level 20 I think. So I'll try that for the oval race as its a nice 345BHP! Then I'll try the Lotus if it doesn't work!

How are you guys getting the Mph? You just working it out based on Kmh??

Anyone remember the Pikes Peak Escudo that was in Gran Turismo 2?? The animal had a BhP well over 1000, hahaha... the steering wheel was redundant, it wa a case of powering up, hitting a wall, pointing it in another direction and powering up again, haha. Any cars in Forza got the potential to reach kind of ridiculous power... other than that insane demon Clio that I encountered the other night??
