I didn't have any problems with the handling at all, felt just right to me but I do prefer aracde style racers.

The handling is odd, but you get used to it. The FWD Clio and Corsa understeer a lot but I suppose that's to be expected. It just feels arcadey which in my book is great. It'll keep me going until the new Sega Rally comes out.

I just did the first "Big Rig" Hill climb where the road turns to sand.
Without a doubt the most impressive visuals (Lighting, particles, shadows, textures) I've seen in a driving game.
I am really enjoying this one, I love the variety of levels and feel even more so now, that online was a missed oppertunity.
The game reminds me of an Arcade machine, It just has that wonderful "Chav driving dynamic" where you can be quite heavy on the gas/wheel and powerslide all over.
The levels split between tarmac/dirt are my favorites.
I find rumble to be a very important factor in this game BTW. I think it really adds to the experience.
I'm only 25% of the way through the career, but this is a solid 8/10 game for me, with a higher mark for the visuals.

IMHO it is better than Motorstorm because of the wider variety both of vehicles and locations and the reward structure.
It actually means something other than opening up other races.

I'm now some 33% through career mode and the game has surpassed my enjoyment of Motorstorm by a fair degree. (& I really enjoyed Motorstorm)
I think the handling is fantastic, it's arcade but great.
The game does suffer from spikes in difficulty with the cross events, but other than that I can't fault it.
Sand buggies are a pig, but I think that's great as it makes them feel like a whole different game.
The rally stages really are superb, and very enjoyable to compare with your friends times after you finish.
I am still just blown away by the visuals. I wonder if it's the best looking game I've played yet.
If you are after an arcade racer, you will be satisfied.

I found the Raid races really dull. Mainly because the track design is quite poor for these events (unlike the crossover and rally sections) and the AI is dumb as a post. This means other vehicles will just ram into you and the only way to win at the higher levels is to do the same and take them out on the corners. It's fun for about five minutes, but because the races are sooooooo loooooong and there are so many of them, it gets really boring really quickly.
The handling is wierd. I maintain that the newer 4WD vehicles like the C4 are stupidly easy to drive. Easy when on wet sand they stop in an instant if you pull the brakes. This means that any excitement from driving full pelt through the firest or along a cliff face is neutered because its so easy to stop yourself from getting into trouble. I much prefered the classic and RWD cars. Pity that in career mode they hardly feature at all. Boo-urns!
I completed Championship mode by using the Lancia Delta the whole time and it was much more fun. Stull controls wierd though. You have to turn early, but it's not because the car slide into corners like early MacRae games, Sega Rally or RSC2, it's because the wheels of the car take time to turn to full lock. Flick the analogue stick all the way to the left and the car still turns gradually. It took a while to get used to and I had to get into the mindset of the driver gradually feeding the wheel round the corner. It kind of works, but it still isn't as satisfying as drifting sideways into corners.
Anyway, 975 achievement points got and this sucker is getting traded in now. The 1,000 miles achievement is the stupidest achievement ever and can suck my balls.
