I see, you the 1000 mile achievement, doh. That a360p.com bunch have more desire for gamerscore points than they do for life

I think they prefer points to an actual game I think.

I'm not sure what codemaster's grand scheme is with this and Race Driver - the two seem to be merging into one loose product that ticks a whole load of boxes but doesn't particularly stand out on any of them.

The Rally stages in Dirt are yet again brilliant, by far the highlight of the game, but as already mentioned it feels lacking in certain areas (snow stages, weather, handling isn't quite right etc). Instead we get fun but ultimately shallow alternative buggy and truck races which are nice but do not have the legs of a proper Rally title.

Dirt is a great game but not what I was expecting. I worry that their next range of games will just be Pro Race Driver and ditch the McRae completely. I like Race Driver too, but it doesn't beat a racer dedicated to a certain sport. This is particularly sad when back in the PSone days Codemasters almost perfected both the Rally and ToCa experience, and they've been going backwards since.

What's the breakdown of the content in this? I'm interested in this only for the real rally stages - does it make up a large percentage of the game and can the other content be avoided?

Still considering getting this for the PS3 when it's out, but if I can't play it as a proper rally game I think I'll wait for WRC. *hint hint Evo Studios*

You can play just rally stages if you want to in the Championship mode

However you need to unlock most of the stages and vehicles in the career mode (which contains all of the race types).

You can cheat to unlock everything, but it costs. Codies actually advertise this service like its the best thing ever too!

I got mine mid-race whilst doing a career event !

How much does difference does the wheel make to playing the game? I am really enjoying the game with the pad but have fancied picking the wheel up for a while now. With this and forza now may be the time to get one

I had the same happen as well, and I had to do nearly 380 miles for the 250 mile achievement to unlock.

It's good once the default wheel settings have been tweaked. It's much harder than playin with a pad though that.s probably just coz i need to get used to it. It almost feels like a completely different game.

Same goes for forza really. Harder but good. Got test drive and pgr to try and some point too.

The only real issue i.ve got is trying to get the wheel set up well to play in the lounge. It's at its best when mounted on something. I'd not bother if you were plannin to play with it on your lap

I can't play it with the wheel, just find it impossible to control. I don't any problems with Forza. In fact I not only use the wheel with Forza.

I think the Team are fast doing a Sonic Team Sonic act in trying to bring in more fans CM are forgeting what people buy and want from the series . People don't play Colin McRare for truck racing ect , they buy it for Rallying and thats where the whole focus should have been.

The lack of rain or Snow ect just seems such a step backwards

But most people seems to be raving about this game...maybe I'm missing something.

I'm the same as you lol, i'm playing Dirt with a pad too. But play Forza2 with the wheel.
