It all fits on one disc because the graphics are so terrible. That's what I heard anyway...

I don't know who said the graphics are terrible, but they're really not. I assume Mr Jim being a sarcy bugger

That's pretty amazing, how on earth does it all fit on one disk?

Also, how do the vehicle controls work on the 360? Is it triggers to accelerate/brake?

Sticks if it's anything like the XBox version. As you'll need the triggers for other things.

You accelerate and steer with the left stick. It gets tricky sometimes.

I have done a bit of googling and discovered that clearing the cache will prevent the game from crashing during load.

Gonna give it a shot tonight Here's to hope!

                Just finished Portal! The song...!

Can anyone tell me how it ties into the HL universe, cos I must have missed that bit...?

I have to say though as an aside, anyone moaning about the graphics of this set of games is just completely, utterly and totally missing the point.

                  Wrong XD

The game looks smashing to me, and if you care more about the technicalities of the game rather than, you know, playing and enjoying it, or you're just trying to prove you're "better", I feel sorry for you.
When did I ever say I didn't like the games or that I cared more about the visuals or technicalities than the gameplay?

My point, which you have totally missed, is that the 360 is a very powerful machine, far more powerful than a half decent PC. That is why the mediocre technical specs of the port are surprising.

I'm always surprised at how poorly a lot of devs utilise the 360s power.

It seems like only an elite few devs have any real technical prowess these days.

I don't think any dev on the planet can really take advantage of any tech these days. Who knows why? ... I guess standards are low.

The ties to the HL universe are subtle, but they are there.

There is a projector presentation in a couple of rooms of the last level which indicate that Aperature Science was a competitor with Black Mesa for government funding. And during the boss fight, GLaDOS herself explains something along the lines of "It's gotten alot worse since the last time you were outside" and "I'm the only thing between them and us" hinting towards the fact that the game takes place during the Combine occupation.

Plus there's the song at the end which sarcastically suggests that Chell could go to Black Mesa if she was looking for a new friend to help her.

Yes actually Forgot to mention, there are a couple references to an event Aperature Science held at one point called "Take Your Daughters to Work Day". I think GLaDOS mentions it at one point and the website ww.aperaturescience.com has a brief history of the company (accessed using the username and password you find written on one of the walls in game), which mentions it.

One implication is that Chell was one of the daughters taken to work at Aperature Science. Some people are suggesting that during the event Chell was lured away by GLaDOS with the prmise of the aforementioned "cake". The website mentions that the employees at Aperature weren't aware of the existence of the Relaxation Vault (login to the website and type "thecakeisalie"), so there certainly seems to be some sinster reason as to why Chell ended up in there.

I wish you could play the song again at any time as a bonus

I loved the ending too, that last bit was just classy!

I posted some links for Spatial to the sound files from the game a few pages back. The song should be in there somewhere
