I can appreciate that 60fps is smoother and looks nicer, but I think control has much more to do with subtle changes in things like control senstivity, hit boxes and collision detection once you get over 30fps.
Thats your choice, just like it's mine and other peoples choices to figure it's down to 60fps. I've always found jumping a lot easier to control on 60fps games rather than 30fps games, right back to the 16 bit days when I wasn't even consciously aware of the difference. Normal service can resume.

I just played the first (of many...right?)

side-scrolling parts, in the Desert-y level

        It's magical isn't it.

It's also ironic that the series goes back to its 2D roots in many areas to achieve excellence

I haven't played it much because i wanted to get assassins done. Now that i have. All i can say is wow, this is because ive done the first couple of water levels. Absolutly genius, absolutly amazing creative minds behind this game. I like the nice little touch of when the music changes when you go underwater. I do hope nintendo do release the soundtrack to buy normally.

Well, personaly I actualy think Mario 64 is slightly easier to play than this becuase the camera was alot better, i wouldnt say being 60fps has made much difference to the way the game plays to me really. It does look pretty spectacular when Mario is shooting from planet to planet and the like though, and I do think that is in large part thanks to such a great, and fast, frame rate.

I've just been spending tome time 100%'ing a couple of observatories - I absolutely love in these games how early on you're a little hmmm as to what a specific star will be as its shadowed out. Upon finishing the games main story yesterday I was told that

the 'purple comet' had opened up

. I've just been playing through some of the stars when this is in orbit and it just shows how AMAZING the level design is. Levels you've been through previously which already seemed gaspworthy show even moreso why they've been designed in a certain way. And to think an hour ago I didn't really fancy playing anything .. throw on Galaxy and you're instantly feeling high.

                  Phenomenal.

I can safely say this is one of the best games I have ever played. Another definite landmark in gaming history. Every time I play this, I sit with a huge grin on my face.

Designers will be copying the ideas from this game for the next 10 years or so. Spheroid/oddly shaped environments with warped gravity will be the new stealth.

My understanding is that the automatic camera was added to make negotiating the oddly shaped environments easier, not to make the game more accessible to "casuals".

Unlike stealth though, so long as it's well implimented, I have no qualms with more of the same of that

This game gets better and better.

The vineyard galaxy with the spinning willows or whatever. Amazing.

taking down the big robot in the toy galaxy is my current favorite level. Just the satisfaction of unscrewing screws by shaking the controller.. genius!

                                sublime, utterly sublime.

You can have a pop at nintendo as much as you want but when they are on top of their game very few can touch them.
