Would be ace meeting in the Citadel, swapping weapons and going off on missions, maybe on the next one, eh?

level 40 odd now after 20 hours of play
Only done 4 main story planets thus far and its great. I enjoy the exploring aspect but after landing on planet X a million times with the same ****ty rocky terrain with occasional flat bit and the odd thresher maw popping out and murdering me with one hit its getting tedious. Each bunker is designed identicly, its just poor IMO. Then you go to the single player and The citadel is awsome the four planets (especially the fourth) are great there are traders, missions, daft side quests etc etc.
I love the main story and I enjoy the side quests currently hunting a rougue alliance black ops group (had two side missions and an offer from the Shadowbroker) and its great.
The amount of crap im picking up now is daft aswell, think I have 2 million creds and pick up 1/2 million creds per mission if not more.
I love this game but so far out of everything I wish it had developed Alien worlds/cities which had nothing todo with the main story line to explore with some side missions. Im hoping its yet to come with where im going next

I agree with that GH - I was hoping to find a lot more on the uncharted worlds, like entire decaying cities and smaller sub-plots revolving around a single planet (such as the planets on KoTOR).
The sense of discovery on the playable planets is actually far less than the text-based planets, which is a real surprise. I found one planet which had something about
a huge rift that had developed on one side of the planet, which scientists now understand to be a glancing blow from a super-weapon in an ancient war
. That kind of stuff is so cool in a sci-fi adventure, I was gutted to find I couldn't go down to the planet!

This game is starting to do my head in, its awsome but the save system is utter crap, you often go through lots of exploring sections, talking etc etc and then suddenly get thrown into a battle, die and then find the last time you saved was 30-40 minutes ago. The frustrating thing is it makes you feel like you have to keep manually saving after every bit of progression but often you still forget.
Other than that though its been good.Last edited by mikewl; 27-11-2007, 05:02.

Just finished this and I quite enjoyed itI put about 30 hours into it I reckon and I did about 70% of the side missions. I told myself at one point that I am just going to do the main story missions but I kept getting drawn to a side mission when a new one opened up, couldn't help myself
This is a excellent game and the only thing that keeps it from being truly great are the technical issues that appear in the game, and they appear quite frequently. Frame rate problems, long texture pop in times, some poor collision detection and some long load times. It is a shame really cos the rest of the game is done superbly. The characters, the story, the voice acting and the set pieces battles/missions. The game could easily be a movie at times, it really does have that epic sci-fi feel to it. The combat (biotic and weapon based) is, for the most part, very well done and would put to shame some actual third person shooters. The only real issue with the combat is that it does take a while to get used to but when you do it works perfectly. I was a vanguard so I had biotic and weapon based combat abilities, they complimented each other really well.
A few people in the thread have already commented and I will echo their sentimnets, the world of Mass Effect is crying out for more variation and open ended-ness. The uncharted planets all pretty much look the same, if there were actual cities on them it would be so much better and provide more scope to the game itself. Also some systems could not be visited, by that I mean you couldn't land on them. For instance it would be superb if you could land on Earth or even Mars and explore. These aren't "bad" points as such, it is constructive criticism and something which I hope they think about doing in the next game or via DLC. Oh and, as I mentioned before, it would be brilliant if they added some MMO aspects, the game is crying out for some! Creating a crew with your friends on XBL and going around the galaxy doing missions and other odd jobs would be brilliant.
To sum up, this is an excellent game which, in my opinion, is only held from "greatness" due to some technical issues. It is not as revolutionary as it was made out to be but it is still a stand out title and one of the best games out at the momentLast edited by ezee ryder; 27-11-2007, 07:31.

I agree with everything being said here.
I've been disappointed by the fact that they just chose to recycle the layout of the structures each time. Seems a bit lazy and when you think of what could have been achieved (such as the things suggested in this thread) it would have been amazing to discover the surface of each planet so in that respect it's not been what I was hoping for. Some of the worlds are visualy quite beautiful though.
I came across one last night that you couldn't land on which
Space Pirates had carved graffiti in to
It does seem that Bioware had a real sense of epicness driving them, but have stopped short of achieving / implementing it, which is a real shame.
That said, I did the first real clincher mission last night. You know, the one where you're forced to make your first really hard decision. Spectacularly well done and such a painful decision to make
Moments like that and the whole build up to it make up for any of the flaws in my eyes.
Plus I don't think seeing a Geth / enemy flying through the air with the biotic lift and throw will ever get boring. I laughed like a drain when a Krogan tried to charge me and my powered up Biotic team mate just sent him spinning slow motion through the air, right over my head

Finished this last night, ****ing amazing ending. Had me glued to the TV until 1am when I finished and then I couldnt sleep because I was so wired up.
First game since FFVII that I will actually play through in its entirety twice.
Ending decisions
I ended up choosing to not save the council, stagnant asshats, and to focus on sovreign. All the fast cuts detracted a little bit from the ending scenes because the textures couldnt load fast enough, bloody Unreal engine
I'm glad they stuck to their word, even though the game is 1 of 3 the ending was satisfying and felt like an actual ending and not half assed.
Also, Shepard has the best dance moves lol. Cracks me up every time I hit dance while in flux.Last edited by Orgun; 27-11-2007, 08:13.

I think that might be to do with your character class. You might not be able to depending on which one you picked. If you went something like soldier (as I did) then you may never get the chance to do it.

Couple more hours into this last night (7 hours level 25 I think), and I'm enjoying it allot more now. Spent the whole time on Faros completing the main mission and all the side missions, and enjoyed every minute of it. Think it has taken me a while to get into and understand the collecting and levelling up in the game, which encourages you to partake in exploration and side quests. The visual rewards given from the things you collect and the skills you develop are far more limited than those in Oblivion, but once you start to see them reaping benefits in battle then it all becomes more worth while.
I finished up Feros and then headed back to the Citadel, to properly explore that tonight, now I'm in the right mindset.
I don't think this game is ever going to move from very good to great for me. I'm sure it will annoy some but my point of comparison for this is always Oblivion, and I have to say that World just felt far more epic, detailed and exciting from the start than this ever has. As has been said away from the main story planets everything is so barren and undetailed, which completely destroys the premise that they were pushing for the game of a living breathing galaxy ! I appreciate that there is allot of back story and info for each unexplorable planet, but I'm very much a get in there and look sort of person, text doesn't do allot for me I have to say !
It's going to be interesting to see how this Galaxy develops, either as part of the trilogy, or as DLC for this game. I presume if they are as they original stated still trying to make this a trilogy on the 360, then there will be little time for DLC, but at the same time I've heard the devs mention DLC many times, so who knowsLast edited by Simmy; 27-11-2007, 09:55.

Loving this game even more now.
I`ve got over the initial no cash and rubbish armour stage and not I have decent gear my team are kicking ass and actually surviving battles! I also swapped Garrus for Wrex because 1. He`s comedy, 2. He doesn`t die as quick and 3. He like to get involved. I`ve got him in a bright yellow armour at the moment so he looks like a big bannana!
Thanks for the tip on the team powers, Spatial, that`s really seemed to help loads. I turned it onto manual when I first started the game because I didn`t trust the computer to use them at the right times, but since allowing the team to use powers when they feel like it combat has become easier.
On a side note. I`m trying to bed Williams but she`s boring me now. Just like in real life, you have to pretend you`re interested in their boring conversation just so you can get it wet.
