Never mind, I just finished the game. Now all I have to do is

deal with the 'real ending'. It's bloody hard.

Think this is out tomorrow in the Usa in all its head chopping blood spurting glory.

Okay, I feel a bit daft now.

After reading Kaladron's spoiler post I realised that I hadn't actually finished the game - I chose one of the other options after beating Jeanne, and forgot to go back afterwards and see what the others did. Will do that tonight

          Lol. That's funny.

I just finished the 'real ending' tonight by the way. The fight is awesome, and actually quite easy once you figure it out. The actual ending has more plot twists than the rest of the game. It goes a bit OTT but it's all tongue-in-cheek.

Just finished this earlier tonight as well, and despite a few niggling points, the game is incredibly fun the whole way through.

Was a bit disappointed after saving up for the most expensive threads prior to the final match to ensure I looked my best, that my clothes reverted to default ones when I walked out of the motel to fight him! Oh, well..

Only just noticed that the UK is getting shafted with the censored version of this game. I assume its purely graphical "enhancements" that the US is getting?

                "censored"?

As far as I can make out, the blood was ADDED for the US version, nothing has been taken away from the JP/EU versions. Unfotunately, the internet seems to be mainly peopled by bloodthirsty americans so we think that blood is what the game is about.....
Dev said he plays the JP version as the timing is better (assume this may mean frame drops). It runs pretty sluggishly outside combat so I can imagine a few extra things to deal with may tax the wii too much.

yeah, i think i posted without fully reading up. Didn't realise the uk was getting the same version as Japan and that the US version was bloodied up for added appeal.

As far as I remember, the videos being shown were originally of a version including blood, then videos started coming out with the black smoke and no decapitations and it was announced the Japanese version was to be censored.

US don't get the wicked comic manual that comes with the Japanese version - b/w text lists instead...they get loads of blood though.

"EDGE: In the action part of the game, the moment when Travis finishes his adversaries is quite bloody in the American version. Was that always okay with Nintendo?
Suda51: Indeed it was. But it's an important point that the game is different in different territories... ...The US version is the closest to my initial vision of the game."

I also read that the JP version is the one he plays. I can't be bothered to pull it up though.

Whatever, obviously the people here who have played it were not too bothered by the lack of blood. Ties in well with my idea of the game anyway.

How's about throwing this one into the mix

Eurogamer: We can't leave this without asking about the black clouds in the European and Japanese version, as opposed to the blood in the American version. A lot of people feel like our version is censored, but the response has been that this is the original version - so simply, which version do you prefer personally?
Suda 51: Actually, I can't really say which is better. It's an action game, at the end of the day, and in some ways I feel like the black clouds make the European version feel more refreshing and more direct than the American one, when you're playing it. It's really hard to compare, though.

The idea just feels like watching the censored version of Kill Bill, to me. Although were I to buy that film I'd shell out for whatever uncut edition I had to, whereas I don't know if I could justify picking up a US Wii just for Suda's game. Make of that what you will. It still sounds great regardless, but I'm pretty sure I'd think something important was missing.

US version came, and well, it's really rather ace isn't it? I've not played much but I'm getting a feel for the combat. At first it felt a bit lame that slash was mapped to the A button rather than being able to swing the controller around but the finishing moves more than make up for that with much fun. Slicing people in half: WIN. I can't compare it to the J/E version but the blood looks pretty cool. It's comedy over the top-ness makes me laugh and just looks ace, Ichi the Killer style. Having a bit of trouble with breaking enemy blocks but I'll get used to it. I'm loving the style too. The graphics, the text, everything just has such a cool look to it.

And the phonecall towards the start was genius

Manual in black and white. Ubisoft: FAIL.
