I tried out the demo, and to be honest I don't love and and don't hate it. It's ok. I am tempted by the promise of four player fighting action, but like turtles they may just prove to be a 'fad of the week' with my online firends list. I think I shall bide my time and see how things pan out.
One other thing. I can't stand the forced "zany" humour. I wish games would stop trying to be funny.

      I'd argue that one.

There's isn't one really. People's perceptions of price with DL games is wierd. Garnett on 1up yours said that he bought Braid grudgingly because it broke the price benchmark (mind you garnett always gets everything wrong).

There was a 1,200 point game at the 360 launch three years ago and that was just a billiards game. Given the love and attention that have gone into both Braid and Castle Crashers (whether you like them or not) I can't bregrudge them the same price as that. It'd be cutting my nose to spite my face.

Back on topic, I'm stuck on the Lava Level, but I'm still loving it. Played a 2 player co-op last night and it was peerless. Perfect lag free fun of the highest order.

I don't think there is anything weird about online price perceptions and its like I stated in another thread the price should reflect the nature of the game. Bionic commando cost a lot more money to develop than both Braid and castle Crashers, is a better game yet it costs less @ 800 ms points. Live arcade pricing should be capped and me thinks 800 ms points is a high enough price no matter what the game. Its about selling more copies not less at a higher price. I would have probably bought Castle Crashers for the multiplayer had it been priced at 800 but now it will pass on it and I doubt a future reduction will get me to pick it up either as I will have lost interest in it by then and there will most likely be a better game on the horizon. They really need to get pricing correct and first time round.

The other side of all this is that these are digitally distributed games meaning developers don't lose out through 2nd hand sales so I say fair pricing and no price fixing please MS.

I rate Guardian Heroes as one of my favourite scrolling beat em ups along with Streets of Rage 2 but Castle Crashers feels very bland by comparison it not as good and doesn't innovate in any way I can see.

Is it worth maybe having a seperate thread for discussing the price of XBLA games rather than using 1st play?

It seems to replacing the old 30 v 60 fps chestnut as the topic of choice for derailing threads.....and that was like trench warfare!!

The price shouldn't even be discussed here

I thought the First Play forum was a place for people to share their honest opinions on the games they've played. If their opinion happens to be an XBLA game isn't worth the asking price, then shouldn't they be allowed to voice it?

price never seems to be an issue in other game threads though and never an issue in retail release threads but when a download game is a few pounds more regardless of content it seems to be the hot topic ,

take mgs4 or gta4 i was pretty disgusted that just because these were high profile releases we were supposed to pay an inflated premium for them highstreet stores like games and woolies had these on sale at ?50 a throw,

to be fair i feel we do need a price discussion thread because price issues completely derailed the Braid thread and are doing the same in here its called first play not first pay

I nearly got very annoyed at the way you posted this but I didn't allow myself to. The way I see it pretty much anything that's posted on a forum is an opinion that means were missing a lot of # in any case you show me where I typed the word fact - My post is obviously my opinion.

As for pricing I don't see why this should not be discussed - something can be good at lower price and bad at a higher. Many game players I know say they wouldn't buy this game or that game at full price because they thought it wasn't worth it but having played the game they still think its good enough to buy at a lower price of course with digital distribution you wont be able to do that hence why the original selling price becomes a point of discussion for some people in relation to the overall experience.

Having played Castle Crashers its a good enough live arcade game that has a good 4 player co-op but for 1200 msp I feel it is a tad too expensive. Whats wrong with saying some thing like this?

back to last post that had some topic -

Does anyone have any tips to help Brats who is finding the Lava level a little challenging?

I've done the lava stages. All that can be done single player wise, is to level up. I personally recommend adding stats to your magic, after awhile you can perform magic attacks in the air. Which help greatly.

Just played the demo of this and loved the art style and sense of humour.

Looks like another trip to Tesco's for an Xbox Live points card.

From playing the demo, this game looks great. By today's prices 1200 points is a lot. But with fuel prices and credit crunches and the like, I suspect that three years from now, we'll be amazed that you could get games for only 400 points.
