My brother got me this for Christmas and to my shame I only opened it the other night so I've only played a couple of levels so far.

How do you get the items for Aceing a level?

    Comment

They are awarded when you reach the end gate provided you didn't lose any lives... it shows you the ace and says 'which wins you...' and then shows you the prizes.

Though I'd post this here... had me laughing if you know the original

(yeah this is a posted rickroll, but hey, it's a LBP version!)

          LittleBigPlanet patch incoming
SCEA marketing manger Mark Valledor has confirmed that another pending update is being cooked up to fix issues in the aftermath of 1.07.

I completed the game before Christmas but haven't got any further than making rude shapes in the level editor

Oh come on! Don't try and tell me it wasn't one of the first things you tried!

I'm not sure if anyone here will be able to help but I'm pretty stuck, and I don't seem to understand the sync feature relating to emitters properly.

What I need to do is have a set of objects emitted in a set order (i.e one after the other and not all simultaneously). There are about 10 or so objects. I know this must be possible because it happens all the time on the magician's palace level, but I can't get it to work!

No matter what I set the sync value too, the minute I set it off (either by switch or just by un-pausing the create mode) all the objects appear at once.

If I change the frequency instead of sync, then it appeared to have the desired effect - but I ended up with the 5th or 6th object appearing at the same time as the 2nd or 3rd.. I guess something to do with the time I last edited them??

There must be a nicer solution than having to keep the edit mode paused for eternity.. what the hell does sync actually do for emitters??

not sure if this is related- but I found that the 'Sync' setting on pistons is overridden if you plug switches into them.

So, a group of carefully syncronized pistons will all move at once if switches are added. very annoying... and maybe emitters work the same way?

have you tried using time-delayed switches to trigger each emitter at the right moment?

Hmm.. maybe so but they all go off at once either with OR without a switch.

I worked around it, I made a piston with magnetic switches along the length of it's travel so they activate each emitter in turn. I'd still like to know how to do it properly though :/

A whole bunch of DLC has been announced to start with next week's update:

Chinese New Year & Groundhog Day costumes, God of War and Valentines day pack, Wipeout costumes

I guess the God of War pack is just a set of stickers and objects, it seems too cheap to be a level pack. Same for the Valentines one.

The wipeout costumes are.. interesting! It also looks like the previously Japan only costumes (Piposaru, Toro) are going international now (which I'm a little disappointed by, as it means Japan hasn't got *any* special stuff a la the Kratos/Nariko costumes that were available for the US/UK)

The Chinese New Year costumes are very beautiful. I think I might get some LBP in after my pipe.

The valentines pack that went up on the store today gives you a ton of new materials, stickers and objects - much better value than the christmas one if you are interested in making your own stuff. Completely worthless to everyone else mind, as there's only the two costume pieces.

Is there a site which shows exactly what you get in these packs?

My mate and I play this every weekend online, having a great time, and we have friendly little competitions to get the most points - loser gets a slapping Any recommendations for manic, points based maps? Not those stupid 1m+ points Trophy maps, proper maps.

The other day I started a new "map", basically Sackboy Pinball. Not done a lot, just experimenting (pistons are no good for the flippers, so using pulleys). As it's aimed at multiplayer, having to keep the machine quite small, but it's looking like it'll work quite well. Maybe a test version next weekend

Well, it's not exactly what you want but my latest level is a points battle for 2 players using the Paintinator

I use my own points system though and only the winner gets the prize bubbles (more awarded if you win the game faster)

It's called Paintball Party, if you regularly play with your friend please try it out.

OK, shameless plug over... I'm not sure but I think the new LittleBigStore might show you what items you get before you buy. It shows you what you received under My Content so if you go in to buy from here it might do the same. I've always bought from the PSN so I don't know.

I'll check your map out this weekend

Got to love how you call them 'maps'.. I assume that's your PC background showing through lol

There is a good multiplayer level I played but it's one of the more famous ones so you probably already know it - something Colosseum (but I think spelt incorrectly, Coliseum maybe?). The creator found a way to make it so that the doors to proceed would only open if one sackboy was left alive, so it's a series of minigames with the objective being to kill all the others before you get to the next door/checkpoint. It's pretty scrappily made to be honest but the nature of the level makes it pretty chaotic and exciting

(this is the level where I got accused of cheating after slapping my competitor onto an electrified floor and maintaining my healthy point lead - as he was the leader he restarted the level.. lol)

I'll try to pick it out of my recent play list and heart it so you can find it if you want to.

Just read your stuff about the pinball level properly... I'd have thought one-directional (can't remember the proper term, it's when you set it to 'snap' to it's extreme position) wobble bolts would have been the best choice for flippers, that's how you'd get maximum power out of them. Winches and pistons are always gonna be a little bit loose in control I'd have thought?
