I got around to playing this. I thought when you guys said you couldn't run and shoot that you meant you could walk and shoot, but not dash and shoot. I didn't figure that you meant you plant to the ground every time you want to take a shot.
The controls are vile. They are, quite simply, a disgrace and it seems to have affected their game design. The infected villagers seem all angry and grrr and stuff and then when they come to attack you there's something really weird in their animations - it looks like they were animated to move a hell of a lot faster and then just slowed down. It's like slightly playing in slow motion. Was it like this in RE4 too? It's lilke they wanted fast zombies but just couldn't quite commit because the controls were rubbish and they need to give you a fighting chance. Wouldn't be a problem if you could actually move.
Looks pretty though and I love the setting. It's really rather different. Though no doubt it will lead to a mansion equivalent with a secret lab underneath (did that happen in 4?). Overall though, I could easily miss this and not regret it.

As for the Enemies running then slowing down when they get to you, I always thought it wasan intentional thing on the developers part to make it seem like you were completely surrounded quite often.

I think there will be a mansion type setting, or a palace type one, as Chris has always been in a game with a mansion/house type scenario.
Yah can't break tradition!

I played this the other day, thought the graphics were good and the game was fun but it didn't set my world alight.
I've played Resi 1-3 and that's it, didn't own a GC so missed out on Remake, 4, etc although my mate raved about them.
It was fun playing another Resi title but I doubt I'd have the time to play through this, I'm more into games where I can have a quick play these days but I know I'll be missing out on a good game. Might pick it up in the summer, though.

I spent a lot more time on this last night.
I finally nailed the controls (Type C) and can complete both scenarios without taking a single hit and hardly running out of ammo.
It's still ****. Having to trade ammo to the bitch so that she can reload her handgun and then requesting it back takes too long. You can't even split a stack of 40 rounds down the middle to share to save you some bother, total wankness.
Capcom can f**koff with this attempt. Looks like I'm waiting a bit longer for a PS3.

I'ts strange how people's views change, even when we all knew the control scheme was ****e in the older resi games, people still enjoyed them for the story and atmosphere.
Same with the controls in this game, people commeneted on many of the same things with Resi 4, but everyone dismissed the flaws for making the game more tense.

I speak as someone with little experience with the demo, but I have no problem with the old control system returning as such (though it is about time Capcom embraced analogue control). However, if people's comments about the nature of this game being unsuited for the control scheme, I can understand the frustration.
Plus the atmosphere, from my external position, does look like being very different from even RE4, perhaps even lacking, and this is going to draw attention to other (percieved) flaws. Stop me if I'm talking crap though.

I do agree with certain things, I knew from the moment co-op was announced and the footage of zombies being mown down with machine guns that people were going to complain that either the game was too actioney to cater for western audiences or that the control scheme wasn't suited to that kind of play. I guess it is difficult to judge from the demo as it only shows you a couple of scenarios. The guy with the Axe and the Chainsaw man did seem a little unfair though
