Anyone else requested an "urb" from your co-op buddy? Chris' accent is a joy.

    Give us an urb

      Memories can be erased

Seriously though, it is pretty much RE4 but for the 360 and PS3! The majority of people loved RE4 right?

I cannae wait for this, bring on March 13th I say.

from what i've seen so far this game has more in common with ghost recon than resident evil the atmosphere is gone it just feels like every other shooter set in a dusty dessert type location, the french village of 4 worked as a horror location even in daylight as you always felt like you where being watched through the mangled trees.

It also has lost one of the biggest elements form the last game the mystery as your fighting the same bloody things. crossed of my list at the moment loved four but this just feels soulless

You do realise that the locations in the demo are presented to us with no context and that they're from the beginning of the game? Just watch the trailers, there are loads of different locations which have more of a 'Resident Evily' atmosphere.

Of course, its up to you if you want to dimiss the game or not.

              Spanish village.

Quite bold statements after playing just two short sections of the game. More like Ghost Recon, sure... Did you also hate Resident Evil 2, 3, Zero etc. because you were fighting the "same bloody zombies" in every game?

Played the Japanese demo back in December, didn't like it. Thought I would try it again...yea, still don't like it.

Controls are awful (see deadspace/gears) guns sound weak, aiming is really slow, switching items is clunky. Not fun imo.

                **** demo.

The demo is everything I wanted it to be; an HD version of Resi' 4 basically.

                  Great demo.

The thing is if the controls were made to be more like gears then it would transform the game from survival horror to a run'n'gun. Resi has always been about positioning and maximum efficiency of your ammo and health herbs as well as the money/treaure that you collect during your exploration of the game.

I agree but the controls hinder the gameplay considerably.

                      Such a shame.

This demo has really divided people. I appreciate that it's a contextless segment and mearly a demo, but I still feel very disapointed.

A friend of mine summed it up for me, when he described it as feeling like, "A bad cover version of Resident Evil 4".

You're right on what the game has been in the early games but, just going on this demo alone (which gives only a tiny impression), the rest of the game has actually shifted to more a run'n'gun setup anyway. It doesn't feel like survival horror. It feels like run'n'gun with poor controls.

Big muscle-bound hero with handguns, machine guns, sniper rifles and grenades and manic villagers running at you from all over tells me somewhere in here the game wants to be run'n'gun. But just can't be, due to the controls.

But the demo is tiny and it could be that every other section feels more survival horror (though the recent footage in the Headlines thread looks even more Gears). Even still, I'm not sure the survival horror thing is an excuse for handicapped controls.

Oh, and my fave bit of the demo:

"Why is there a chainsaw here? Well, I guess I'll just leave it. I have no need for that anyway, seeing as I've four bullets left and all..."

Capcom could update the controls to include more freedom of movement whilst continuing to limit the amount of ammo and health that you have. That wouldn't really change the dynamic of the game at all. It's fairly ridiculous to have characters unable to dive out of the way of huge axe blows, and having to be rotated on the spot to change directions. Yes, that's historically how Resi has controlled, but it doesn't mean it can't change. It strikes me as an example of the designers being either lazy or just plain bad if they can't manage to add 'modern' controls without breaking the feel of the game. It's all about balancing isn't it?

Providing a more agile move-set would allow them to deliver the 28 Days Later style zombie horde that they clearly aspire too, without having to have them stop charging you when they're 8 feet away as if they've suddenly remembered they've left the gas on at home.

Having more and faster zombies would counterbalance the extra moves, and keeping the ammo limited would make you still take careful aim to ensure that you made every shot count.

Anyway, I still like the game and will likely pick it up on release day - you can't beat shooting zombies with big guns.

a simple dodge button to avod attacks would really make the controls more managable for me

Had another go in co-op this time and I liked it a lot more, had fun working out stratagies for the chainsaw bag guy.I am still finding the controls really frustrating though, its really weird coming off from deadspace where you could strafe/reverse + shoot same time.
