Anyone played this on Move yet? does it work or add anything interesting to the experience?

Doesn't work that amazingly, its very much RE5 Wii Edition but slightly more cumbersome as RE5 was more cumbersome to begin with. But when going back to controller I did miss the motion controls.
The button QTE's just seem to be always placed on the Move button now (at least against Wesker in LiN, and the Lickers in Mercs), so they aren't annoying anymore.
What you'll miss is strafing (never used it), and D-pad change.

You lose a lot of speed with move, it makes it a different game.
Both are action focused shooters that feature no puzzle solving and very little horror really. If anything there is more ammo laying around in RE 4 as well which makes it feel like the complete oposite of a survival horror game.
Although I enjoy it RE5 is just designed poorly in comparison, which I imagine is the reason it dosent work so great with move. It felt like it was a game designed for speedier controls in the first place. I think the fact that 5 allows for infnite ammo and highly powerful weapons once they are upgraded turns it into an action shooter rather than survival horror. You can pretty much just stand in one place and fire at waves of enemies without reloading until they are all dead.
It's badass in co-op though on Professional difficulty with a good player.Kept you waiting, huh?

I agree with the points you are both making; the locations are way too friendly / perhaps a little too exotic, the game is definitely action orientated as opposed to a truly scary atmospheric experience (hope they make this one day) but for what it is its quite entertaining in co-op. From what you guys are saying it seems that Move hasn't been delivered as well as it could have which is a shame but ironic given that this is what most people think of the game in general.
I feel that RE5 and Lost Planet 2 (never meant to be scary but the story & characters are whack!) were too concerned with delivering co-op experiences that they lost focus with the overall experience. At least they now have libraries to build upon when it comes to co-op but hopefully they will focus on making sure they have the right overall experience next time.
However I really don't believe the reason RE5 not being scary is due to the fact its co-op there really is no reason why a co-op game can't be atmospheric and scary.Last edited by Morph; 22-09-2010, 16:32.

The biggest difference is that RE5 is a co-op game which means levels are being made completely linear much like Gears of War. Getting stuck on a puzzle or in a labyrinth in a co-op game is a no go. In RE4 you had to explore the whole maze like village, finding key items scattered all over the place and advance. Thats true RE. It was big, it was epic. RE4 is a complete masterpiece in my book. Its obvious that Capcom misses the likes of Mikami. That Inafune can whine what he want.
When playing Lost in Nightmares I realize how important the settings are. That Episode is really great imo. Still not on RE4 level, but much better than RE5. Desperate Escape is too, because it doesn't hold back like the main game does. The helipad scene feels like true survival. Both are also darker than RE5, daylight Africa settings do NOT work in RE. Although the very first trailer looked frightening (it also used the dropped sunlight thing that would mess up your view). The second trailer, the 'in game' one with the girl in the tube, had a MUCH bigger enemy count etc. When Sheva was announced it went downhill.
The El Giganto boss in RE5 illustrates the difference between RE4 and RE5. The first is an awesome fight, and the second is brainless crap.
Still, I've played RE5 for over 40 hours probably. And thats due to Mercs which is awesome in co-op, and I keep replaying the DLC Episodes.Last edited by saturn-gamer; 22-09-2010, 16:52.

You are right they force you to work together and be together all the time it would have been much more interesting if in co-op you both play different sets of objectives in the same world but as two separate entities if your both in the same area then you see each other and you can help each other out with each others objectives if you wish. A bit like RE2 you would have 2 perspectives to play through for single player and in co-op you'd be completely free to play through in the way you want to (co-op/semi co-op). Much harder to craft/put together but we really should be pushing boundaries with modern games.

Finally got around to playing some of this with the Move tonight (Only the first chapter, I've forgotten how to play the game.). Left all of the controls at default, and aside from being a little confused as to how the game actually works with the Move (It doesn't use the orb, at all) it's absolutely fine.
At the moment I've only played a little with my infinite ammo shotgun on the veteran difficulty, so I haven't needed to do much in the way of fine tuning of the aim yet, hopefully I'll give that a go tomorrow and play with one of the pistols/magnums for a bit.
The only problem I'm having really is motivating myself to play through the game again. I did quite enjoy it, but I'm not sure I did enough to play through it a second time alone. :/
Sheva is still hot, inventory management is still infuriatingly clumsy.
