If you want to leap onto someone m8 all you do is make sure and push up on dpad for the shiv knife then when your closer to that enemy lock onto them then just run at em and Press X once their close enough you will kill them. I use it all the time on the free civilians ones as I go above the area and actually jump off the building onto one.

I dont see the point personally comparing this to COD4 their different games for genres. For story COD4 pees on it if you want to go down that road and the multiplayer I can see me playing for ages. This is a good fighter but it aint splinter cell stealth action with swords that Id hoped for, theyve rushed it simple as that and padded it out with sub quests that doesnt matter.

Why do we have the same voice scripts for everything? That just shows a lack of passion and budget for voice acting. Id rather have them speaking in their native languages with subtitles, to me it just smarts of give em a flash looking game and thats it and its a massive backwards step in how generally the games market has matured into good voice acting and story etc.. Couldnt we have at least had different voices for beggers in each city or even different skins its all very generic when you look under the hood even more than COD4 for skinning. Wheres the crusaders fighting in the streets or sieges etc.. (could have had something fantastic like sneaking and destryoing a siege weapon or something).

I've been playing this over the weeked and believe I have got to my fourth hit.

So far it's brilliant. There's no point saying the game looks and sounds superb, as everyone already knows it does but there's a few other supprising assests to the game. The combat is brilliant and has real weight and conviction to the throws, blocks and stabs. I was slightly worried about the free running as it looked far to complex or tricky to be enjoyable but Ubisoft have really pulled it off. You can't just climb up any wall surface, you have to find a ledge, crack or peice of wood to grab to be able to pull yourself up it.

After every game copying Prince Of Persia's - Oh look there's a white ledge in the middle of a cliff face so I obvously have to jump to it - it really is a shock to have no such blindingly obvious signposting of climbing ledges. Now you really have to look up!

My only realy complaint, and it is a valid one, is that the missions you have to do are re-used over and over again. Considering the size of the worlds then I can imagine that I will stop doing them once them once I am nearing the end.

All in all though it is a superb game and really could be game of the year so far.

Well, Daz, to be fair to them - see, I can defend the game, too - the voice acting's pretty decent quality, the story's much better than average and, you know, the Crusades weren't all fighting, all the time, wake up, angry Christian knights outside your house poised to behead you. Acre's only just been retaken at the time of the game which is why so much of it is in ruins.

But yes, the same, bloody, speeches, all, of, the, time, everywhere is already driving me mad. Absolutely baffling to think no-one had a problem with this in testing. If you don't have the money to record that many different lines of dialogue then for God's sake don't make them so bloody long! The beggars' speech and the "I'll hurry home now" monologue in particular are woefully amateur hour.

EDIT: Oh, and the climbing, while beautifully done, is still just a more advanced version of the way things used to be in Prince of Persia, surely? It didn't take me long to work out there were only a set number of climbable edges and surfaces repeated over every city. Read the artbook and the developers even talk about how the cities are just X identical types of building cut and pasted together. I've lost count of how many times I've thought "Christ, I really ought to be able to hold on to that/lean over there/jump sideways to that" only to fall back to the ground. Not to mention the lack of consistency; the cliff faces at Masyaf look far more textured than some of the rough walls you can scale elsewhere, but hey, because they're not coloured green with vines growing up them they can't be scaled; some edges you can leap off to your doom, others - for no particular reason - you can't... I nearly wet myself laughing after sliding down an invisible wall and hearing one of the "how odd" comments from an NPC.

That sounds awesome! I'm gonna have to see if the dialogue is more unintentionally hilarious than Oblivion's now you've mentioned that.

It would be okay once, I think, if a bit grating. Heard about fifty times it becomes more teeth-grindingly bad than unintentionally hilarious, but hey, YMMV and all that. The "Another minute and they would have made off with me!" line from some of the female civilians you save is more Monty Python's The Holy Grail territory, particularly when delivered by the pantomime dame/BBC costume drama voice actress.

Anyone else noticed that water is acid on this = instant death even a tiny drop does him in and I now make it my added mission in life if I kill a load of people and a guard even utters who done this theirs a murder about I turn around and quietly shiv him. Im sick of hearing it (because I do ALL help citizen missions) in the same voice that they MUST be killed. Saying that I kill the ladies now if they drop their pots on their head, for me thats a sin that must be atoned for with my little blade Ive gone from this person that NEVER kills innocents (never done it on GTA) to something possessed on this.

Dont get me wrong Eight Rooks Im enjoying it, its actually stopped me from loading Mario (I darent as I wont play out else till I completed this). Id say to anyone yep its a definite worthy purchase if you want a good solid game but dont expect a good stealth game, a good story or good voice acting. For me it gets an 8/10 but Im more peed of what it could have been it has such mesmorising moments now and again and the whole game could have been like that. I pray and hope the sequel sorts these issues out.

Is that all there is to it? Sounds great I'll have to give it a go when I get home.

Sure it is m8, cant remember if I press jump of ledges or not for those ones, its become second nature to me as I kill loads of people as I just adore using that move you can use it on the assassin missions at end as well if you run behind em.

Though im loving this, why is there no crouch. Its not like they ran out of buttons, both bumpers are free and so is the LS button

Again from the artbook; apparently they were originally going to have swimming in, but being able to go under water made the player seem too much like a god. Quite how they don't find him wildly over-powered as it is I'm not sure, but hey, such is life.

The water has miraculous healing powers, I jumped off a castle onto some jaggedy rocks, my corpse rolled into the water after breaking every bone in my body. I was able to flail around attempting to swim.....then I drowned
