Hmm, I should probably cancel my order with Game, but I can't find my order number (lost my email off them when I uninstalled Outlook, and their *genius* site doesn't show any order history or status).

Besides, I'm getting San Andreas and Ace Combat 5 within the next week or so. Ooooh, shudder!

I've canceled my Gameplay order as I have the silver steam package, wonder how many cancelations this game has recieved with online retailers heh.

Is anyone else worried that the extensive play of Counter Strike Source will take away some enjoyment from HL2? I don't think I have the desire to test the physics anymore...

EQ2, HL2, Halo 2 and GTA SA this month, wOOt!

Lets just reflect on that a little bit.

Roughly 10080 minutes. Roughly 160 hours. 7 days. 1 whole week.

I'm finding it really hard to get my head around the fact that were on the home straight here. Come Monday I'm going to be climbing the walls in anticipation

Not at all. CS:Source is only sctraching the surface with what the engine can do and with HL2 it's gonna be used in so many different and exciting ways so bring it on I say...

I've been trying to quell my excitment but like Spatial says...7 bloody days, I best go play Halo 2 while I wait!

Still can't believe I'm away when this is released. And to add insult to injury my copy of Halo 2 was sent out today, so that should arrive, 10 minutes or so before I have to head to the airport. Balls.

Quick Q: Is the retail edition on DVD or CD? Or is there a choice?

The UK retail version is on DVD. Wootness.

Damn-ness. That means I need a DVD drive, been putting off getting one forever.

Good god man they only cost about ?30 these days! You can get a DVD writer for ?50-ish!

They've added a back up files function to steam. It wasn't exactly hard to back up anyway but still it's nice to have it.

Scan's cheapest 16x DVD reader is ?15.85 inc. VAT. Which is about what I paid for a 3.5" floppy drive last time I bought one.

God, if you're that cheap, you can have my old reader for a tenner - I'm just replacing it with a ?50 16x dual-layer writer.

I'm not sure what to do now then, wether to just go for the retail version of Half Life 2, wait for the CE, or just download the ****er of steam.

If all you get is a disc and box with the retail version, it mighjt just be as worthwhile

I think they've also updated Steam with a handy utility to make backing up your files easier.

FWIW I went with Steam, to support Valve a bit more and its a nice system that works surprisingly well. The extras available with the packages are quite nice too.

The calm before the storm approaches. Six days. A little less.

Thank God there's been some truly top quality games to tide me over.

                                Download it, embrace the future!

Plus if you buy the silver pack you will get Half Life Source and Day of Defeat Source, plus the entire Valve back catalogue.
