Half-Life Uplink wasn't released until a significant time after the original game itself, so I wouldn't worry about no demo being a portent of bad things to come.

I thought Valve had announced they won't release a demo of Half-Life 2 before the actual game is released? Or am I wrong?

Surely the point of releasing a demo is to teast the expectant and lure the n00bs.

I'm not excited at all, just because I know I can't run HL2 on my old pentium. The same happened with HL1, the game wouldn't run on my 486 (and still doesn't run smoothly on my p1). I'll be missing all the fun, sometimes life is hard.

I'm really confused on this one. On the one hand the lack of any true announcement could mean that they've got there heads down and are still on for the 30th.. SEVEN DAYS OMG!!

On the other hand the fact that there's been no gone gold announcement and that numerous sites and shops are saying Nov or even 04 is quite alarming.

Either way all this speculation is driving me crazy. I wish someone at Valve or Vivendi would just put us out of or misery.

I have heard from a fairly reliable source that the game will be released still on the 30th September..

But here's the good bit.....

It will be released via the Steam network THIS WEEK!!!!

I just cancelled my order with GamePlay for HL2. Would rather my money goto Valve direct, and would prefer to download it.

The fact they haven't said anything has got me worried. There was supposed to be 3 more bink videos to be released, the one where Gordon was driving the buggy was one of them. We haven't had no news on multiplayer yet either and I swear they said they would reveal all when the game is near released, 7 days is pretty near if you ask me!

They could be kept silent like this because it gets people talking, which in turn gives them free advertisement so yeah we could still be on for the 30th. Guess we'll know soon enough when we hear reports of shops taking delivery of the games and stuff
