There is so much extra depth than the standard turn based strategy game.

      Exactly

Like for example your question about using SP stat boosters on any item - that's allowed!

You can make any character do anything - for example I had a character of the highest Dragon class, with all Galaxy Mage spells, all healing spells and Braveheart and Magic boost - all stat bonus was put on attack everytime he transmigrated which made his attack insane + stat booster (master and teacher) to raise magic power.

How many hours have you managed to spend on this game then. I am up to 10 hours and have barely scratched the surface!

Ah, my bad. That's one of the things I've not been too sure of during my time with the game - when you consider the way that negative effect panels work, it seems a little illogical.

I haven't had a normal sleeping pattern for weeks

              Sodding Disgaea.

I'm totally new to S-RPGs and have a hard time getting into Disgaea!

My "army" consists of Laharl and 3 pupils (warrior, cleric, red mage), Etna and the 3 monsters she summoned in the tutorial.
Laharl is level 7 and the rest between 5 and 2. Do you think I am too weak for the "Dark Adonis" aka "Mid-Boss"? There are two enemies in this battle who kill most of my chars with one hit, which is confusing as the other enemies are weak enough for me. I'm wondering if I should level up somewhere. And if yes: Where? In the item world? Or should I create more members for my party?

You have enough people in your party, though I suggest leveling them up a bit more. Replay a few levels, but throw the enemies on top of each other so they level up - when you kill them you'll get a lot more exp. Don't over do it though, because they can quickly become too powerful for you.

On the Mid-Boss level, there is a mage and archer on X3 Enemy Boost squares, which can be a huge pain. I used my two most powerful characters to get as close to the Geo Triangle thing as quickly as possible - by using one character to throw the other. My other characters were not strong enough and dieing quickly, so I left them in the portal whatsit until the X3 Boost went.

Mid-Boss himself is pretty powerful, so watch out

Item World is a great place to level up, but it can be quite tough. Choose a weapon with a high 'Rare' number so you get easier enemies. Just take your time with the leveling up, it can take a while. Have a look at your status screen and see who is close to going up a level - then send them into a level on their own (or with Laharl as backup) and get them up a level.

Just don't do what I did and not notice there were two sides of the shop until the third chapter, one of which you can buy weapons. Whoops!

LOL, don't worry. I've already discovered the weapons shop and spent alot of money there. Didn't know I could replay battles, very useful for leveling up I guess.
I'll try it again this eve, thanks.

                      You bastards. All of you.

I was looking forward to this for ages. Then read the reviews and decided it might not be quite my cup of tea (and being a bit strapped for cash at the moment I have to be pretty sure on something before buying it). Then read this whole thread and decided it had to be played.

And now. Now I can't put it down. Goodbye constructive Sunday. Friends - who are they? Cya work.

And I blame you motley lot and this thread...

anyway, i'm still only 44 hours in and on Chapter 9, should really go get Cave of Ordeal open, but i jus live in the item world at the moment, getting statistitions for all my weapons....

Those high hit factor people are a pain. I visited there once and quit. (I had saved). Not had an awful lot of success with items yet other than an Amulet which is pretty powerful now. I have spent 25 hours levelling up (a solo run through the gate of Vyer's castle is good for about 140 Experience points). I created a Scout which I was able to take through that area from Level 1 pretty much as he has a superb movement allowance (maybe a way to avoid those big hits by getting to the Geo thingies quickly). At the gate of the castle the scout can traverse half the map in one movement. I now have running solo through there to a fine art, only getting one enemy attacking at a time. Needless to say the Scout now has about 59 HP after some rapidly gained levels. I think more will be required tonight to give hime more protection when he goes for those Geos. He is good with guns so I got a fairly powerful one from the start which helps. He is supposed to be good with the Geo thingies. I assume that is because he has the high movement as I could find no other special attributes.

So, you can throw enemies on top of each other. Do they suffer damage at the end of your turn from that?

They do not suffer damage, they go up levels. I'm not sure how it works out the level increase, but it may just add up the two levels from the two characters. It increases their health too.

It's very useful for levelling up!

You've played it for 25 hours already?? That's not fair!

Yes, since last Tuesday I think and I was out on Thursday. It was 16 before the weekend. I presume you don't have access to a Scout yet. Other recent additions were a Sniper, Pugilist and a Knight.

Interesting concept to have "sharp pointy things" of varying types and also guns.

I am at Customer Level 3 I think now. I presume more items become available as your level increases. I already selected the more expensive items available option.

I currently await my Strategy Guide with interest. I am hopeful it will arrive in a day or so.

Hopefully I'll get in a few hours tonight!!

When you level him up abit more, he gets a special called 'Geo Change' (think it's called that) when you use it, all the geo panels on the map change to just three colours and different attributes. I stopped using it when it made one of panels 'clone', it was a big map and had about 4 clones of laharl and the rest!!!!! Quitted out after that.

I just made a dragon! Always wanted one. It's great.
