I'll be getting him some more levels tonight. I presume there are better places later on for levelling up, but for low levels the "Magnificent Gate" certainly gets my vote for solo runs.

You get a Dragon eventually then. Sounds interesting.

That's incorrect. The Geo changes are completely random, just as they are for maps on item world. It can only be used in item world too.

That's how I skanked the ultimate boss of the game - I got ready for the fight and saved. Then kept restarting against him and geo changing until I got what I wanted

Disgaea is the only RPG I've played where you can be more skanky than the CPU! XD

It makes a change to find a game where pretty much anything goes. If you can find a devious way of doing things the game dooesn't object. Like the ability to use the same character in as many combats as they can reach (as a character bought in on their position on the map). After all that you can then go and lead an attack with that character.

OK, the Dark Adonis really wasn't much of a problem at all. Thanks again for your help, Pete.
I've just beaten Flonne and she joined my party and voila, another question: To beat Flonnes Dragon I brought Laharl and Etna up to lvl 12. The rest of my party is still very, very weak so that they're only useful for healing or using items. And as they're so weak I mainly fight with Laharl and Etna which makes 'em stronger. A vicious circle.
The thing I want to know is, if I can continue like that or I have to level up my other party members, too. It's odd: Because I "like" the story relevant chars more, I use them in battle more often. And I think it'll be the same with Flonne. Can I get rid of created characters, when I have more members joining my party?

I've read the review and skimmed the thread and I still have no idea how this plays. What is apparent though is that it has immense depth and gameplay. I think I'll pick it up and see what all the fuss is about.

Be aware that it is a CD based game in the UK.

Now up to about 30 hours with a few more classed of character available. Finsihed Chapter 1. Flonne at the start of Chapter 2 is superb... laugh did I?!!!

Whoosh!!! Excellent stuff. This game seems to be seriously under-rated.

People just aren't shouting loud enough about it. I definitely haven't read a bad review of it though, which is something, and it's good that it actually got a PAL release too.

I finally caved and got this from Videogamesplus, arrived yesterday and I got in about 2 hours last night. What a bloody game! Those prinnies are totally hilarious, dood!

The geopanels are a mystery at the moment but I will replay the tutorial again and actually pay some attention this time. Time for some serious caning when I get back from work - I now have the PDF strategy guide, a few tips from this thread pasted into a wordpad document and some fresh coffee beans ready to grind - midnight oil here I come............

Wait until you get to Chapter 2. The intro sequences for each part are superb.

You'll need to do some serious levelling up initially.

Yep I sure will have to level some, time for some mucking around in item world tonight I think and do some exams.

On the first couple of levels is it better XP wise to take out each enemy in turn or to stack the lot into one or two ubermonsters?

THe Etna intro sequenes for each chapter absolutely crack me up. Very very funny

When I had a few extra levels under my belt (taking the enemy on one at a time) I then resorted to sending the characters through Solo (this on the Magnificent Gate). With over 140 EXP for grabs (provided you adjust the geo symbols) that makes it relatively quick to level one character up.

I now have a Level 19 Red Mage (did some levelling up in preparation to getting an item up to level 10 which will be tomorrow. I need to do that before I can commence Chapter 3). I think I may try to get her up to Level 20 which requires over 2700 EXP to get to the next level. With suitable items she has 262 HP and 270 SP and can dish out over 100 hits on the more potent fire spell! I now send her solo through the last part of Chapter 2 utilising Laharl for throwing so that I can use hit and run tactics on the boss (first time round a dragon, subsequently a Golem) to avoid "pain". The end result of the levelling is that the Golem which initially cost about 2700 Mana Points to create now cost next to nothing as it reduces each time you defeat it. Needless to say I now have one and I have levelled it up to Lvl 9. With the items it has 245 HP and can pack a 60+ Hit punch.

I am looking forward to finding out what Etna is actually up to.

I have a question about my Mage. Always using Mega Fire and I sometimes get only around 40 hits then other times (same map, same enemies, no Geo symbols... everything identical) I get 100+ hits (I have seen 132!!). Does anyone have any ideas why I get such a large difference in attack power. These are not the odd light hit. I can have the majority of the hits in one visit to the map down at the 40 level. Next visit they can all be 100+. Most confusing...
