The EXP requirements for level increases multiplies, rather than just increasing by a standard amount each time.

Just starting the last chapter now with Laharl at Lv. 208

What happens when I start again, do I lose my items?

      Comment

Items and levels are kept. You lose story-specific charatcers - when you meet them in the story again, they're at whatever level you left them at and are equiped with the items you gave them - and those hidden areas that require you to have opened a certain story chapter to get them on the Senate proposal list (Prinny Land, Human World). I'm not sure about the rank-reliant hidden areas (Alternate Netherworld, CoO, etc.).

Getting frustrated with the fact that I've yet to even glimpse a Legendary Cosmic Blade. I've got legendary versions of pretty much every other Rank39 item (bar a Durandal), but the best CBs I've got are both rare. I wants me some Yo****suna

<edit> Of course, since posting this I've managed to get both a Leg Durandal and a Leg CB. First time Sod's Law ever worked out in my favour...

The Level thing only occurred between 99 and 100. I knew the amount of points increase for the next level when you levelled up. With the Star Mage it was 120,000 between Lvl 98 and Lvl 99. It was 400,000 between Lvl 99 and Lvl 100 and then back to 130,000 between Lvl 100 and Lvl 101 (numbers approximate). Bizarre to sat the least!

I am not doing nearly so well on levels. I have been through Valgipus (?) IV 266 times levelling various characters up. Star (original name for a Star Mage isn't it!!) is on Lvl 129 and can do a serious amount of damage... between 2000 and 3000 HP on the standard spells, not that there is much of an increase for Mega, Giga and Omega that I can see on the Star spells. Giga is up to Lvl 20 as well. Etna is on Lvl 65 and with some sutable juggling of items is getting pretty powerful. Jennifer is on Lvl 60. Laharl (only Lvl 50) can now almost wipe that 3x3 out in one. Just a little more practice and he will be able to.

I am now on Chapter 12.

It was bizarre (word of the day... "bizarre") on one of the Chapter 11 maps. You have those Alps (Imp types) on squares along both edges of the map. First time I went there they didn't budge while I calmly walked up the map and disposed of the Geo Symbols. Tried it again and there was an Aerial Assault as soon as I came into range. If it hadn't been for the Star Mage and Etna's healing abilities the map with the old "Defender" would have been a disaster. As it was I think I only managed to come out with 4 characters.

Got to grips with the Item world with a staff... plenty of room for residents. Building up a nice selection there. May use it as a repository for them where I can then transfer them to other more useful items. I think the maximum population may be 12. Improved the stats of it pretty well though there is nothing much over Lvl 50 there so far.

I'm using chapter 11-1 for lvling laharl (64) up atm. I haven't managed to put in hardly any time since i've worked every day since wednesdat gone.>_<.

His new special dimension slash is absolutely wicked for owning the monsters on the 2nd row of exp +100% squares. Throwing Thursday in between the 2 rows and using bazooka special is also satisfactory.

I've a red mage who's pretty powerful (lvl 58), but i wonder, how'd you get your star mage Bassman? I'd like one u see.

My dragon deals the ice attacks and wind's pointless i think.

So far i'm naming all new characters from SF3!! The Dragon is Alex and my new rogue is Ibuki ^^

To unlock the Star Mage, you need a Red, Green and Blue at level 5.
To unlock the Prism Mage, you need a Star Mage at level 35.
To unlock the Galaxy Mage, you need a Prism Mage at level 50.

              Regards
              Marty

                  I quote from GameFAQs:

Prism Mage and Galaxy Mages CANNOT learn the Tera spells by themselves.
                  Red Mage- Tera Fire
                  Green Mage- Tera Wind
                  Blue Mage- Tera Ice
                  Star Mage- Tera Star

They do lots of damage and all from a safe distance away. The Tera level spells are definitely worth the effort of leveling up each mage to lv100 and then transmigrating so you can have the ultimate spell of each element. To get Tera spells level to 100 and transmigrate

                  End of quote...

I have a Prism... looks like I need to level up from the current 28 to 50 to get the Galaxy.

My Star has basic Ice, Wind and Fire and can deal out large damage with those. I like the Star Mage as the Fire, Wind and Ice on the target are not that relevant. At Lvl 129 I have seen nearly 3000 HP on some targets with the Star spells. With suitable items my Star Mages has 2635 HP and 1865 SP and needless to say has plenty of potential for damage. Getting to the Mega and Giga levels uses serious SP. With the up to now 1000 HP enemies being despatched with a straight Star spell I one hit when the percentages are OK!

Next Priority will be to give her Espoir and the other Priest Spells.

For want of originality my created Dragon is Puff!!!

Did some more resident selection from some items for inclusion in the "Quality Staff" I am working on. I now have 11 of the 12 places filled and the thing is beginning to look useful. I will keep working on it now and again to fill the quota of residents with some decent stats. I'll leave the last "slot" empty so I can move in the new residents to add to the exisiting stats.

The Prism Mage is up to Lvl 45. Only another 5 to go before the Galaxy Mage is available. The Star Mage is up to Lvl 130 now.

I'm thinking of deleting the ice and wind mages once the omega and terra spells are learn't. I'll get laharl to learn them for me to use.

                        Is that wise?

                        Comment

Depends on how much you're going to use him to cast them and how much transmigrating you're planning on doing. If you only get him up to mastery lvl 1 in them and leave them as a stand-by option then it's probably not worth it, as you're likely to lose them on your first transmigration, even if it's at the "95% skills retained" Genius level. I taught him every spell I could, for example, but the only ones he can cast now are Braveheart, Magic Boost and Omega Heal - he's forgotten all the offensive ones.

If you want one unit with access to all the elemental spells, create a Galaxy Mage. Because mages learn those spells based on their level and *not* their weapon mastery, transmigration doesn't have the negative effect that it can on characters who've inhereted spells.

I will hopefully have access to a Galaxy Mage tonight... levelling up permitting!

Does anyone have transcripts of the between Chapter alternative Etna things. They absolutely crack me up... very very funny. In fact the whole story has me laughing more than I think I've laughed at a game before.

                              Great stuff.

Next time through, assuming I get that far I intend recording all of these scenes onto a DVD. I reckon it would make great viewing.

Well, I got my Prism Mage up to Lvl 50 to unlock the Galaxy Mage. Did some serious levelling up at the 3x3 map!

In the process, my Star Mage has reached Lvl 135. Etna is now on Lvl 69. The Prism Mage is on Lvl 62 and the Galaxy Mage is on Lvl 49. Some of the other characters have progressed a bit, like my Bushi who is now in the 40's level-wise.
