I was thinking that this would be possibly the ultimate handheld game?

Imagine a PSP version...! Or a stylus enabled (option for Dpad, too) DS version!

    New pants please!

I certainly prefer it to FF:TA so a handheld version would be interesting.

Done some item stuff today. Did one very risky high level stage (I could only really use my Mage on her own). Managed to complete it. The item in question was an Accellerator.

Last item I did was a decent sword for my Blademaster. Doubled her hit power. Managed to finally make a dent in the CoO 3 block with her (next enemy strength costs 500 I think). Managed to get her to Lvl 421. Need more strenght though to do that block. Currently using mages to boost the attack. It still takes 3 Winged Slayers to kill them, using the usual lift and throw to the attack point then move back out of danger to finish the turn.

I intend to work on some statisticians tomorrow!

Nippon Ichi announced a handheld tactical strategy type game for the PSP at E3, I think. It's called Makai Wars and, according to IGN, it'll have "characters, design and gameplay very similar to Disgaea, La Pucelle: Tactics and Phantom Brave".

There's a teaser image on Nippon Ichi's site here.

I am not strong enough yet to get to the lower reaches of a decent weapon, My mage is at Lvl 1250 or so (70,000 HP) so maybe another transmigrate is in order.

Working on a Blademaster at the moment who is on Lvl 469. Her sword now has a Lvl 292 Statistician (going to add another small one tonight) and the level increase at CoO3 is up from about 25 to about 45 though it still takes 2 or 3 Winged Slayers to clear the level. Currently working on putting some Armsmasters on the weapon as well. Need to improve her attack via here items I think.

I finally unlocked the Celestial Host and have an Angel currently at Lvl 70. I now need to work on my gun mastery so that I can unlock the EDF.

I put in my pre-order with VG+ for Phantom Brave to be able to get the free music CD with the game.

                Been rinsing it again!

Every one of my good characters is equipped with:

                Yo****suna/Nemesis MK-2 @lv100
                Prinny Costume
                Prinny Costume
                Hyperdrive/Accelerator

My Laharl's HP is over a million, attack power is just short of a million, defense about 700k. Gonna get the rest of the ultimate versions of weapons, need the axe, gun and staff.

I've jus started transmigrating Laharl, its stupid the way the game mechanics work, for each transmigration he is getting another 10,000 attack, and thats increasing for each time i do it, due to the extra bonus points increasing

its insane the amount of work that must have gone intothe mechanics of the game when being made...

Best weapon I have found so far is the Cosmic Blade. How do you get multiples of the weapons, keep stealing them?

I did a transmigrate from Lvl 1290 on my Mage and was back to Lvl 1309 having done 4 promotion exams and improved movement and counter attack in just over an hour. At least I am going in the right direction!!

Finished Human World last night which of course brought up the end credits. I am now on Cycle 3!! Re-opened the Cave of Ordeal and increased the enemy strength (over 2.2 million from CoO3 now). Money is getting silly as I have over 1,000,000,000 HL!

Now of course I have to wade through all those early episodes. May be a good chance to give my Angel a workout and also get Level 50 gun mastery courtesy of my geo character. Must get a decent amount of Armsmasters onto his gun.

As I was walking to the shops today to buy some lunch, contemplating whether or not to create some new characters tonight and use Jotunheim to level them up, have a crack at upgrading some weapons using my existing post-Jotunheim gang, put a few more of my guys through a Promotion or two, or simply plough on a bit further through the story, this thought occurred to me: I probably spend more time thinking about Disgaea than I do playing it. And that this could possibly be the sign of a truly great game. I play it every chance I get, but in idle moments during the day I find myself just ruminating on what I might do next, or what I might try out, if I get an hour or two on it tonight.

And the really fantastic thing about it is that I'm not spending this time scratching my head wondering what to do next, or how, because there's nothing I have to do next. Despite the unbelievable depth, this is probably the least frustrating game I've ever played. It's a massive stat-filled sandbox.

                      I *heart* Disgaea.

                        You're absolutely right man

I put the game down last Xmas cos I felt I had done enough - I picked it up again last weekend and have now doubled the power of my crew and gone on a mad mission for the ultimate versions of every weapon.

You can pick up the game and do whatever you want whenever you want.

                        Comment

I must admit that I think of what I am going to do next time I play.

Admittedly I don't always achive what I want to but I know that I have plenty of time to achieve them due to the open ended nature of the game. After a while, the main story line is just a means to an end. It is all the extra bits that take all your attention. I still have the joys of the Alternate Netherworld to look forward to.

Tonights first plan of action will probably be to transmigrate my mage again. I decided that 100,000 HP was a good time to do it and that happened last night but I was in the middle of getting some Armsmasters onto a weapon so I did not get as far as transmigrating. There are now about a 1000 levels difference between my best character and then the second best. I did manage to gain some levels for Laharl though which was useful. My problem is that I don't really want to weaken the enemies and my Sword users do not have the attack power to make CoO3 easy. I may have to return to Valgipus IV to check what sort of levels I can get there now with a Level 300 Statistician.

                          Comment

You're making things more difficult for yourself man! Characters should not take long to level up at all.

You have a good armsmaster and statistician yeah? I read that you also have a Cosmic Blade. You need to weaken the enemy level fully, go to item world and level up the Cosmic Blade as far as you possibly can.

Pick a sword character, equip the cosmic blade with stat and armsmaster added and go to Jotunheim Terrible Cold. You need to keep attacking a character until your weapon level goes up high enough so that you can do Winged Slayer so keep attacking a character repeatedly to build the level. A good way to do this on this stage is to throw all enemies together and have another of your characters lift and hold it. This makes sure that the attacked character cant counter and you just keep attacking until the weapon level is high enough for Winged Slayer.

With weapon level at something like 20 and a levelled up Cosmic Blade you should be able to do CoO3 in one turn with Winged Slayer, or if not just boost attack with Bravehearts.

The 'ultimate' items of the game are very difficult to acquire, but
worth it (and necessary to beat the most powerful enemy in the game).

For weapons, they are acquired by entering a Legendary item one level of
power below of the same type, fighting to level 100, and stealing it
                            from the Item God there.

Once you have any item of rank 40 or above, you can level it to 100,
then steal another Legendary item of the same type from the Item God 2
                            at floor B100.

For reference, the Item God 2 I'm currently fighting has these stats:

(No 'More Difficult Enemies' bills passed)
                            Level 6,933 [Fixed]
                            HP: 10,184,640
                            SP: 199,698
                            ATK: 186,416
                            DEF: 141,452
                            HIT: 147,000
                            INT: 176,816
                            SPD: 147,000
                            RES: 135,906
                            EXP: 36,643,537,935
                            NEXT: 10,573,275
                            Skills: Omega Wind (Mastery 80)
                            Tera Ice (Mastery 80)
                            Star (Mastery 80)

Except for the level, you can expect these numbers to vary somewhat
(+/-10%), but you need to be prepared before you attempt to kill (or
                            steal from) Item God 2.

                            The ultimate items are:
                            Wpn-Axe: Apocalypse (VERIFY)
                            Wpn-Fist: Ultimus
                            Wpn-Sword: Yo****suna
                            Wpn-Spear: Glorius
                            Wpn-Gun: Etoile
                            Wpn-Bow: Galaxy (VERIFY)
                            Wpn-Monster: Nyanko Soul
                            Etc-Robot: Super Robo Suit
                            Etc-Engine: Hyperdrive

The Super Robo Suit can be stolen from Baal.

The Hyperdrive you get automatically from defeating an Item God 2.
This is what you are powering up for - you NEED to get hold of a load of Cosmic Blades, a Legendary Cosmic Blade is required. Once you reach floor 100 of that Blade you'll be able to steal the Yo****suna from the Item boss.

                              Thanks.

All my major sword characters have Winged Slayers so there is no problem there. I hope with my Lvl 1621 Mage (capable of 70K+ hits on a Star (Lvl 45) special which I think is stronger than her Tera Star (<Lvl 20), both unboosted) and fully weakened enemies I can get a fair way into that Cosmic Blade.

Hopefully I will find a Legendary one before too long.

May do a transmigrate first just to be on the safe side as it will only take an hour to get back up to my current level with her. Another Transmigrate with a bias toward intelligence and I ought to be able to get her to a 100K hit before boost which ought to give me a fighting chance.

Wicked man - with that mage you should make short work of it. Once you get that Cosmic Blade up to a decent level I suggest you create a Space Pirate and level him up to about lv2000, if you havent done so already make sure you create students to teach everyone Braveheart and Magicboost. Reason I suggest making a Pirate before you go in really deep is so you can use him to steal the good items found on the lower floors.

Easiest way is to create a red Mage for each character and have them involved in combos with their masters. You only need to score a couple hits to level them enough to access the moves, go to Vyers Castle Magnif - Gate and cast the spells with the masters till they reach level 1 and then delete the mages.

CoO3 is much easier with basic level characters once you have 5 people casting braveheart on them to get them started - they'll be abe to do the stage unassisted before long.

Easiest way to power level a Dragon class (I use Bahamut as a Tera spell and healing mage) is CoO3 ofcourse but the setup is different (takes 2 turns). Use Red Nova to take out the middle row, stand 2 character spaces behind the base (the monsters will skip their turn) now stand in the middle of the monsters and use Dragonic Flare.

Rest of the classes - I suggest using Winged Slayer/CoO3 for every class that can possibly hold a sword (ie: all non-monsters) it's much faster! With a high grade armsmaster it doesnt take that long to learn with just about anyone.
