get one of your team members on the stationary gun. and position the other two members also while you better keep being on the move all the time to help out wherever needed.

really? i just tried to snipe a gunner through the wooden wall of a dwelling... and failed. but maybe the distance also affects bullet penetration. i will keep an eye on this as well as injuries of enemies...

I shot a guy (not killed, but made contact known by the White cross that appears) through one of those small old wooden huts in the game. I was right up close to the hut by a few meters and the enemy was within a meter on the other side. I was using the standard assault rifle you start with (first mission).

COD4 goes a bit over board with the bullet penetration which can make this game seem overly subtle with it or many may not even notice it.

Also plant some mines in the trees over the road from the stationary gun next to the barn

Another useful tactic that worked for me was to protect the right hand side from the fixed Gun.

This is your blind side and they can sneak up on you.

Two well spaced Claymores made all the difference to my success on that mission, you have a few minutes to run, so chuck um a fair way out.

Big smiles all round when you here them go off, leaving the black smoke & suddenly there are less little red dots....

EDIT! Doh! Dave said the same!!

              hahaha thanks Kat.

Some good games, I lived up to my name on the mission to take out the SAM, we had seconds left before our Helis arrived and I had to just run to target in the end. I had been hit in Arm, leg and chest and had the distorted vision, the tangos were left right and centre and I just crawled to target dropped the C4 and let her go. Made me chuckle when I heard the cheers and then Kat's "That's capcom living up to the suicide part of his name."

The village assualt was also amusing, with you three taking cover behind walls and then I legged it and jumped in the jeep, Megadrive faffing around with getting on the 50 Cal, and then we zoomed round the place thinking we were the boyz. It was a cold reality when the entire team was wiped out by one of the AT bazzoka tangos....

Probably not so smart to drive a jeep when the targets are 3 teams of heat seaking Anti Tank gunners!

Still, all good fun, and I love the way we used Artilery to soften them up! That first strike left a wounded solider crawling from the destruction along the road, he got pretty far before our sniper scopes found him and ended his crawl to safety....

Last amusing memory was showing you guys that on every mission there is an ammo box at the start where you can pick a sniper/grenade launcher as a backup weapon..... So whilst on paper it chooses your loadout dependant on the Squad you are in (4 squads, different loadout, on coop you can choose which player to use, Medic, Gunner, Sniper, Assault) in reality thet made a consession to players by allowing you to pick up a different weapon at the start. In my opinion everyone should have a sniper rifle as one of their two weapons.

Mind you, the good old M16 on burst mode is pretty useful!

Was a awesome laugh last night , still smiling of my Rocket launcher flying over Capcom's Head .
This game is awesome , just like the 1st game . Yes It's a little bit buggy , but so was the 1st one, so are most Open world type games , to be fair . The bugs never really get in the way too much or spoil the game imo, and I must say the Audio , Lighting , draw distance , on screen mud , smoke effects are some of the best ever

Kat's called it right , very much like Chromhounds , only on foot .

I'm simply can't wait for Van to get this game , he's going to love it

even if frustrating at times due to poor friendly AI and bugs it's possible to have some fun in the Single Player Campaign...

last night i managed to finish mission 5 (rescue of downed heli crew) lone wolf style as i've lost my team early (even due to extreme precaution). i think this mission is an extreme dfficulty spike if you play on your own so here's how i did it:

i got myself a chinese marksman rifle with enough ammo and a fresh anti tank weapon from a downed chinese patrol and positioned myself up on the top of the hill east to the village. there i had great view, a 120 degree field of fire and some cover provided by trees. i used the heat seeking scope to spy out the enemy positions around the enclosed heli crew and picked out one by one. as soon as the transport helis dropped the support troops south of my position i used a scattered artillery strike and picked of the 3 remaining survivors with my marksman rifle. these were truly outstanding moments since the fight was pretty intense, i got wounded and went low on ammo. and, believe it or not, with the shot that downed the last attacker i not only got the "company killer" achievement but also had just 1 round left in the magazine.

then i just had to deal with the APV using 2 heat seeking missiles from my AT weapon (don't try to use them on the helis as they are wasted) to clear the path for the rescue. it's very important to clear enemy positions first and then approach the heli crew ordering them to follow!

I have just got the PC version and played the first level and I have to say there is a lot of detail in terms of the flora and the graphics in general are clean but visually it doesn't look as good as most recent games. I would say its only a few steps up from say what Battlefield 2 pushed about 4 years ago.

As others have said this appears to be the same from the gameplay angel, the damage models on the character don't seem very detailed and there are clearly lots of issues like AI stay standing when shot in some cases.

In its defence the UI seems swish and overall it looks reasonably well polished and the draw distance is massive.

I wish I could join you lads, but my connection is dropping 3 or 4 times every night, it's just so unreliable. On a weekend it usually holds out for hours, so if there's any action then sign me up.

Great post. That's the thing with this game, it has it's flaws, but if you want to be able to play a war game where instead of being pushed down corridors all the time, you can actually think out of the box & try your luck with different tactics, then the experiences you get (Even with the bugs in SP) are just sublime.

                        So much fun!

Who knows if CM can be bothered to patch the game, maybe it will be even better!

I would note however, that coop doesn't seem to have any real issues, so I have a theory that the games testers has so much fun coop, they didn't get round to testing the SP game! hahahah

See you online uli! I've lost you on XBL, add me mate CapcomSuicide, danke.

A patch is coming. I heard from someone who had a relative who worked on the game. That sounds lame I know (a friend of a friend of a friend... etc...), but he basically said the team felt the game could've done with a month or two more to polish out the bugs, but clearly it was pushed out well before the MW2 blast radius. But they will be patching it. Not sure if the person who said it still posts here, he did at one point, so I'm sure he can leap in and confirm if he is still around.

If not, you'll have to trust uncle cavalcade.

                              I'll say...

any other tidbits of info you could get the better!

I do like the harsh difficulty of it.
But the thing that detracts and takes me out of the experience the most, is just the disappearing bodies. I even had one disappear straight after i pilfered its goods! annoyed me a bit since i exchanged for a duff rifle in the process.

I think this game is a lot better on co op in hardcore mode. The team element is increased loads with the enemy indicators removed. It then relies more on comunication of enemy positions and use of binocs. The only problem is the lack of respawns cos if a team mate gets killed it's a long wait spectating. It would b nice if you could adjust the settings yourself to remove HUD but leave on respawns
