A very high nine, but too many tiny nitpicks and a terrible final boss means no way would I give it the full ten. It's simply not much fun

twiddling my thumbs and running away for ten, fifteen seconds every time over and over and over before turning round and firing off a few rounds in the hope that I might get a hit,

and getting killed because the game stuck me to a surface I didn't want to jump to is simply not on.
Where you trying to shoot the boss then? I had no problem with this battle and

didn't shoot him once - leading him past the blue tree of life sap and then shooting that took him out pretty quickly

. Sorry if that's what you were doing...I know it was very obvious...

I just knew you were going to say something about the final boss as all of your (enthusiastic) posts seems like they were leading up to that.

I had no worries with the boss (I am playing it on Normal difficulty and only died twice before finally finishing him off). Like spagmasterswift has just written, I wonder if you were trying to shoot at him rather than the um... obvious 'targets'.

I really enjoy reading your posts though as you describe your whole (up and down) journey with Nathan Drake - it makes me smile.

I replayed my favourite chapter(s) over and over last night - chapter 5 & 6 - because that is where the action and gunfight really shines in this game. I managed to get a few (unexpected) trophies along the way too.

Is it me or is the treasure much harder to find in the sequel? On my first play-through, I only picked up 29 pieces of treasure whereas in the original, I found all but ten by myself with little effort.

I think that calls for a very easy difficulty play-through!

That's demoralised a man who had 105 checkpoint restarts on Normal.

Still, I did have 400 more enemies to contend with. Were you stealthing it a lot?

Also, how the heck did you survive that one part of the Monastery with the two GAU gunners on the ground and an RPG guy up top without carking it??

        I want your thumbs.

As for the initial query, a nine NPC discrepancy sounds like it could perhaps count NPC team-mate kills in the Total Kills category, but not in the Kill Streak stat, although that's entirely speculation. Hard to think they'd not count the museum flashback kills but would count the Borneo and city flashback kills.

Messed about with the store and skins last night, spawning weapons I needed to get kills with for the medals while running around as the virtual representation of my digital self (

          being insanely fun.

But you aren't killing people in the museum?

True enough I suppose. But that further supports my suggestion that it's not the museum sequence causing the Kill Streak discrepancy, so I'm all for that.

Although the chap I pulled over the balcony probably won't be returning to his wife and kids tonight.

there's some cool and funny entries in it.

It was a really nice touch that the developers decided to add more content as the game goes along - it is a superb little (hidden) detail tucked away from the main story.

Also part of the journal makes the final cut scene and one of the skins even better! Brilliant.

It made the following 944 kills much easier. I think one of them was on their last day before retirement too, although I can't be sure. Might've just been paternity leave.

You can sort you karma out by doing a stealth run through with just the tranquiliser gun

That bit you can do by

Stealth kill the RPG guy and then taking down the two chaingun enemies with 3 x RPG shots each. There's enough ammo up there. There's cover too so y the time they've figured out where the shots are coming from you're well on your way to ending them!

Thats the way I went about it, but then couldn't remember how to get back up there to go through the window

That's exactly how I ended up doing it. There was a nice GAU gun sat in that area too which was also helpful.

Still, it didn't stop me dying a couple of times prior to stumbling across that area as my previous tactic was to

climb up the ladder and jump around to a room on the opposite side to the RPG guy which had two RPGs sat there - it was enough to take out the GAU gunners, but the follow-up support would spam me with grenades and rockets.

                            .

I'm still awestruck by someone running through the game without dying - I found it very tough in places, particularly from Chapter 22 onwards.

There's no such thing as a second-party developer. In a business relationship the second party is the consumer: the first party (platform holder) makes the product and sells it to the second party (consumer), and third parties are independent companies that muscle in on this relationship to sell their wares. 'Second party' has kind of entered the vernacular as a halfway house between first and third party for companies that have a close relationship with a certain platform, but that's not how it works.

Thinking about it, I guess homebrew developers could be considered second-party developers, but that just complicates things.

Rare and Naughty Dog are both first-party studios because they're owned by the platform holders. Bungie used to be first-party but is now an independent third-party, albeit one that has a publishing agreement of some kind with Microsoft.

Has anybody got that, 'what do I play now?' kind of feeling?

It is going to take something truly special to make me sit up and take notice.
