Herd mentality? I dont think you will find much of that on these boards, its one of the many reasons I come here.

Plus the Edge and Games tm reviews for Darksiders were both very bad reviews, alot of us on here made points about them at the time they came out. Edge are a ridiculous magazine and often give wildly off the mark reviews just for the hell of it, and I seem to remember that someone who posted on here who works in the Games tm offices made it sound like that reviewer never even played the game much.

There were points made that in some magazines people only get so long to play certain games, Darksiders is about 20 hours long and people were wondering if the games Tm reviewer had been given alot less, and the review certainly read like it, infact i digged it out, its in front of me now, It reads like he simply didnt want to play it in the first place and is certainly not what I'd call a detailed review, more like a disinterested one.

Additionaly most sites online liked the game alot. And thats not suprising, its a good game

As the person who has given it the lowest recorded score on this poll (6), I can see where Hazuki is coming from in some respects. I was enjoying the game but the

      Portal rip off sections

put me clean off it. I fully agree that the overworld sections were a bit lifeless compared to something like Zelda, but the some of the earlier dungeons in the game for me were easily comparable to some of the Zelda ones throughout the series.

With the games magpie approach to design, for me it ended up as a jack of all trades but master of none.

See, i loved the portal sections, having a portal gun in a zelda type dungeon is a brilliant idea and i loved what they did with it, it was one of my favorite parts of the game. I think someone on here said that dungeon is better than the whole of the first portal game.... i wouldnt go that far, but its damn good.

However it has just seemed to send Hazuki over the edge for some reason by the looks.

I agree with the fact that it tried to be a bit of everything and it holds it back from being truley great (its why I only gave it an 8) but it is still good and virtually all Hazuki's point so far are just plain wrong IMO, every single one of them. I just havent really agreed with a single thing hes said.

See, I can agree with much he has said but I'm still finding this rather enjoyable.

The problem I have is actually the sense of progression. The game opens and gives me an objective - complete x number of dungeons. Now, from this point until I complete this task some ten hours later, I don't feel like Ive achieved anything.

One thing I do like though is the setting. The overworld is largely pointless, but I do like the inventive settings for the dungeons.

If the developers take more risks in the sequel them I'm in. If they have a dungeon with bouncy paint then I'm out.

Yeah I have to admit that would be taking the piss a bit .

I would expect a sequel to be more of the same really though, they will probabaly just tweak it a bit (much like every Zelda sequel ever made really).

Course they could go a completely different route for the sequel and copy a different nintendo franchise instead.

            "Darksiders Double Dash" anyone?

I am enjoying reading this thread whilst sitting in my crack smoking, herd animal with no taste pigeon hole!!

Started playing this the other day and I am pleased to see that most, if not all people, found Tiamat a bit tough. I have had a coople of goes and got frustrated, I do think the camera could be more helpful in the boss battles but I am still enjoying the game.
Is a sequel still in the pipeline?

I eventually finished this the other day, was glad I pushed on through but it felt like a chore towards the end. I don't agree with the comments that the game improves the further you get in either. It starts poorly and does improve by the first dungeon, but after that it's about the same all the way to the finish line.

I actually forced myself to finish it so I could trade it in this weekend, however I've just found out my one and only game store closed down today so now I have nowhere to trade stuff in! Darnit!

^It's a quality game, playable, worthy of attention but also entirely overrated. Best part about it is the Scottish giant bloke, I loved him.

I'll end up buying the sequel because I'm sure it'll be as solid as the original, I just hope it adds a tad more flourish this time round, and a bit more polish.

I can remember this being a 'good game', I just can't remember that much else about it, bar the Scottish guy, that (crap) horse bit and the 'water lagoon' level with the submerged buildings in it. It's not even that long since I finished it.

Perhaps I was suckered in by the talk of comparisons with Zelda's dungeon sections, but after a couple of hours of playing this it feels like a bog standard hack and slash. Am I missing something?

                          Yes you are.

Keep going man and try to forget about the comparisions to Zelda.

I hated my first 2 or so hours with this title. Felt so disheartened and let down........

But once the poor intro was over .... and then a bit of nothingness.... I started to dip my toes into the world and I was in love. Keep at it for another hour or so, if you still think the same, then fair dos matey.

I have to say that Darksiders rates as one of the worst introductions to a game ever

Im about 5 hours in seems okay so far nothing special but a lot of people on here claim it gets better as it goes on hopeing for some better zelda type dungeons .One question on the combat the block counter move what can be counter with that is it only the smaller enemies or can boss attacks be countered aswell

Thanks to the whole PSN free games service, I'm back on this and I'm up to roughly where I got bored last time and gave up. As far as I can tell it's quite early in the game so it was somewhat premature of me to give in (though I likely got distracted by another release at the time) however I can kind of see why I did at the same time. Reading through this thread is eye opening in the sense that I can't believe some of the praise this recieved. On replay I've enjoyed what I've done despite some lazy drawn out sections but it's a clunky and ugly game, very PS2 style game. God of War and Zelda are probably the biggest two reminders I've had but it's poorer versions of both meshed together. I'm about to step into new territory so it might well be where the game latches its hooks into me, we'll see. So far, very average and forgettable though.

If you played up to the first dungeon (which is in a castle and has a dragon for a boss) and you're not feeling it then I'd leave it there as thats the point it gets good - before that its very bland and generic - which is somewhat crazy given how good a game it is that the pacing the opening is so poor.
