Cool, with Soldier class being quite capable I think I'll stick with that as I used it on my 360 run through so i'll be able to recreate my exact Shepherd in case I go with the PS3 version of ME3

After some umming and aahing I caved and put it on easy as I didn't want to risk hitting a frustration point and giving up as I've already seen everything. Doing it from that angle I recreated my 360 Shepherd exactly so I have my pick of formats for ME3 keeping the storyline intact. I'm about an hour and a half in and it's so hard to wrap my head around the quality difference between this and Bioware's other releases. I really hope ME2 wasn't a fluke

It's probably something to do with EA owning them now, that extra pile of money and extra help when needed is probably very useful

It's a really small thing but I kind of miss the Cerberus Network too. I don't know why ME2 bothers connecting to EA's servers as it's all in 1 download so there's no updates, news stories or packs via it like the 360 version.

Soldier's tend to get through quite easily too. Vanguard was tough even on Hardcore in my experience, by it's very nature charging head first into difficult opponents is always going to be asking for trouble. The opponents that you had difficulty with on Normal (you'll know the ones) are that much harder the first time you encounter them, but it's all definitely doable and since you've already been through once you'll probably enjoy the challenge. I'd say go for it
My one ME2 playthrough was on Insanity with a Vanguard - certainly was tough in places (

the Collector ship and f%$*!ng Horizon in particular

) but not impossible by any stretch.

Finished this earlier today with a time of roughly 35 hours on my save file. A brilliant game, though I did think it was slightly on the short side. I also found the progression of doing recruit character, do character loyalty mission slightly linear and wished there was more meaty main story missions rather than the 3 or 4 that the game served up in the end.

Already looking forward to the third instalment. Is it out later this year? Definitely a day one purchase.

Are you serious? Once a game tops the 20 hours mark I start considering ditching it for something else. 30 hours and up is reserved only for the creme of my gaming library (only 2 games have topped 30 hours this gen). Yesterday I happily clocked a SNES RPG at 8 hours, and concluded that my ideal for any one game is 10-15 hours.

Man, no wonder the industry keeps making games longer, everyone wants more.

                  seconded!

I'd love to play through ME2 some day, but at 35+ hours it's not likely I would reach the end of the game.

More great games of reasonable length for me and Sketcz please

Funny enough, I had a similar conversation today when weighing up whether to finally buy the first Mass Effect. As I've got a potentially soul destroying crap week coming up, I decided I would get it to give myself another world to escape to in the evenings.

Time-drain games do concern me; I've had Fallout sat on the shelf for the longest time, not even installed it.

Goin a bit off topic, but games like Fallout 3 can be completed in only a handful of hours (thats if you choose the right quests of course it's your choice to want to see every aspect of the game, which is something I get sucked into and have spent 100+ hours ...

Im really enjoying ME2 and have so far got to about 25 hours, I would love for it to go for another 25 tbh.

I am sure if i wanted to finish the game sooner I could have, since there is n need to harvest all the random planets, but I choose to, for the completist in me.

On reflection I'd say it's possible to complete ME2 in 12 hours if you focus soley on the missions you have to do, however I'd be willing to bet that once you start you'll find yourself stretching it beyond that. After just a couple of days I'm now up to 17 and a half hours and I'm nowhere near the end. If anything, I think this 2nd playthrough is going slower than the first which is unheard of for me. I've been scanning every planet and have found some missions that I missed the first time I went through it. Love it.

Finished this last night after a 35hr 100% playthrough and it really is awesome. Just started another playthrough so I can attempt to speed run it on Insanity difficulty. Truly the best game since Uncharted 2 and the fact sequels to both are due at the same time this year makes my brain melt

And definately female Shepherd >>> male Shepherd

Really? Female Shepard over Male? Im about 35 hours but probably about two thirds into the game. I do intend to play again after i finish it, and play as a female Renegade character.

Craxi Taxi Next, without giving too much away is it just aestetics or do you get better dialogue as a woman?

I'm only early but gameplay wise it doesn't seem to make any differences beyond references to 'he' or she'. I'd always seen comments that the Female Shepherd voice acting was much better than the male but had never experienced it as I've been sticking to keeping the same Shepherd. For the Insanity run though I figured I'd have a change and I've got to say, Fem Shep feels much better in line delivery. Plus she's got a better bum to stare at

AMEN to THAT brother, it is all you needed to say...

On a seperate note, do you find the mindless harvesting of minerals on unexplorered planets mind numbingly (sp) boring? Cause it SERIOUSLY makes me get drowsy and fall asleep, plus I get cramp in my left index fingure from the scanning. Surely there has to be an easier way to score some minerals... The fate of humanity and the galaxy depends on it...

'but that's just my opinion, no need to go spreading it around...'
