They are context/location sensitive. The on screen Triangle prompt will pop up when you are standing next to a street punk and he is next to a railing or you are standing over a yakuza etc.

Thanks Bort. I think I've managed to do a few now. Worked out the 'Loin Reaver' anyway. Just wait for someone to attack from behind before backheeling him in the balls. Awesome.

BTW: 'steamy' table tennis. WTF?! Borderline Hentai, this game is. Which of course is a good thing.

Best one for me is still Kenzan's dual stab. Wait until two guys attack you from either side, then hit triangle button and ow. I think that move alone would add a point to my hypothetical score. They're just such a beautiful way of giving what are essentially QTEs a little touch of strategy, though.

Just finished first part, I think. So much left over to do from it, though (wooing Erena, side stories, training/playing dolly dress-up with my girlies at Elise, etc.). Hope my 'progress' isn't lost...???
Do key items carry over or do you start with nowt again?

You mean the first character? If you've finished Akiyama's story, there are things you won't be able to do any more while playing as Saejima and so on throughout the game (character 2 cuts out character 1, character 3 cuts out character 2 etc.), but there's a bit right before the end where you can do whatever the hell you want for as long as you like until you're ready to go past the point of no return and finish the story.

There are certain quests that you have to do at a particular point and will lose out on if you don't, though. I think. I never bothered finishing absolutely everything. Someone else can clear that up, maybe.

Damn, this game gets near the knuckle sometimes.

Just got through the second chapter of part two with Saejima, when

it looks like he's going to rape the child Haruka

                  . Amazing also how

Kiryu later leaves him alone with her - despite her anxiety- as a kind of test, it seems.

I was cringing watching those scenes. Really difficult, mature moments, which I wasn't expecting given the comedy slapstick and cheesy soft-porn up to that point.

18 hours and only on second part. Yep, you could say I've been farting around quite a lot.

I'm upto Story 4 Chapter 4 and have clocked in over 45 hours, there are very few, if any games, that can keep me going that long except the advance wars series maybe

                      Wouldn't say quite
, but it was weird playing past that in English after the import: I was really quite impressed when I realised it was actually a serious plot point... that Kiryu realises

he's a long-time prisoner because anyone female sets him off, even a kid

                      .

I still think Saejima's opening flashback is one of the best cutscenes of all time. Astonishingly cinematic and absolutely bone-chilling stuff. Some later events make it seem... a bit stupid, let's just say, but in purely visual terms it's amazing. Tanimura's opening scene is also quite brilliant - I was really pissed off when I realised when you go back to the place he walks through all the people he sees aren't there any more. >_<

Yeah, that opening scene with Tanimura was really nice. I was convinced it was a rip-off of one of the opening shots in film I saw recently called 'A Bittersweet Life'.

Still enjoying Tanimura's story...I'm doing more sidequests in this than I would most games, but I still feel like I'm ploughing through it a bit too quick compared to everyone else here. Wish I could go back through it with the other characters again!

@ Crocky-Chocky: I think that there's a kind of free roam any-character-goes mode that opens up after completion? Hope so anyway. I'm sure someone here could confirm...

Before completion. The posse are hold up at New Serena and you can switch between day and night.

I presume you can also make a separate save so you can see the end then go back and enjoy the city if you didn't fancy starting and NG+ straight away. *confirmed*

I reached the end last night but I forgot to stock up on health/mana potions before diving in. I got stuck in an impossible situation so called it a night.
