Hey, I'm happy a dev is taking cheating seriously, in whatever form. I can see your point, but believe it's wrong. And they're not just cheating the game, they're cheating those of us who are ranking legitimately. Sure, it's all for cosmetic benefit, but that's not the point.

Golden rule is don't let the gamer think they can cheat the system and get away with it.
Legitimate cheating? hmmm, it is best to put the foot down early than to have it all ruined later on.
People are actually genuinely upset they used a glitch to farm points so that they could buy armour upgrades, rather than actually playing the game? Doesn't CR effect rank?
Oh look it took me 2 solid days of repeating the same glitch to have my ODST armour, aint I the greatest?
WHAT?! how dare you take it away Bungie, how dare you moderate your game waaaaaa waaaaaaa

We're watching you.
Without calling attention to specific methods, here are a couple of examples to help you wrap your mind around what we consider acceptable behavior and what we consider the machinations of people with way too much time on their hands:
Example 1: Laziness is Next to Godliness
You?ve commissioned your little brother to play through the same section of ONI: Sword Base over and over again, wielding the Target Locator like a barbarian?s cudgel in a quest to hit your daily credit cap without ever having to lay a finger on the controller.
This is a little bit sad, but it is not an offense we?re going to punish. *You* are playing the game. Keep your credits (but please go easy on your little brother).
Example Deuce: Communication Breakdown
You?ve written a crafty piece of code in your spare time that plays the same section of ONI: Sword Base over and over, wielding the Target Locator like a mechanical death ray in a sad, robotic quest to hit your daily credit cap while you?re busy doing something that isn?t playing the game.
This is really sad and you can expect to have your credits wiped and your armor items reset (and you can possibly expect to be banned, depending on the severity of the manipulation). We?ve already got a sizable list of offenders gathered up and the Banhammer is being heaved high into the air as soon as this afternoon. Make your peace. You get no warning. We?ll see you on the forums real soon!

I have had the boot player come up a few times and never took it as I saw the scenario around me and saw it was clearly an accident, example recently I hijackied a wraith only to have my team mate rocket it from miles away, should I boot him and loose a player who was trying to take down a wraith?
The second salvo for October will include the fix to the current betrayal booting system, bringing it back in line with Halo 3 (three strikes and you?re out)

The funny thing is the two guys I know went through the glitches getting their credits and selling up straight away to stop Bungie from deleting their credit. I think they finished all the levels and had their 1000/1000. Then Bungie did their whole ban hammer too late. LOL BUNGIE!
To be honest their credit system sucks. All I want is the exploding heart death thing (already got Bucks voice) and then I couldn't give a hoot. Sorry why do I need a ski mask attachment for a helmet. At this rate with the interest I have in MP I will be finished in about 2011 doing that.
To be fair I think you get the most credits for doing Firefight score attack alone so I am not even bothering with MP unless my friends as me to.

The boot system is flawed anyway, it comes up right across the screen so accidental boots are possible. Also you can't boot people who are idling or as I have seen in a few games people on your team doing purpose damage to you but not enough to kill you.
In fact matchmaking in general is still flawed. If people drop out before the start of the match it doesn't rebalance and it certainly doesn't try to find new replacement players. Just carrys on the countdown and launches.

Yeah, it would be good to be able boot idle players or have them automatically kicked as on slayer or similar game types it 's an easy kill for the opposite team.
What is 'gruntpocolypse'? I see it referred to a lot but I haven't seen it in firefight matchmaking which I assume is where it is?

It is one of the Firefight modes you can choose.

Gruntpocolypse is a Firefight type, there is a gametype in the Firefight option or its selectable from the score attack menu in Matchmaking. The Corvette seems like a good map for it.
The DMR is a great weapon for getting those grunts as well. getting headshots on them is key. I hate the fuel rod ones

i read gamers have already started cheating on Reach's MP to get more credits... for a few cosmetic armor-parts and voice overs?
