The thing about all these Health / Shield Recharging games is that anyone competent can complete them on the hardest difficulty with patience, perserverence, and an unhealthy dose of masochism.

Normaly I would agree, though the end of Reach was increabley scary on Heroic, Legendary isnt gonna be nice.

You can actualy hide despite the slightly unfair way the last part of the game has been designed, but there isnt much ammo laying around, so you have to search for it, which means you actualy cant hide, which means youre dead 99 times out of 100.. and thats if you are lucky.

The Only saving grace will be that enemys still all die in one or two hits of the hammer on legendary, so that will no doubt be the way to go, well that and an over reliance on the bizzare checkpoint system that seems to ocasionaly save for no reason in a helpful manner.

In the last battle you just need to make good use of the central building that contains ammo supplies. It's still a pain but it funnels the enemies out, after that it's just a case of moving slowly through the last stretch. For anyone who's ever grimaced their way through Veteran modes frustrations in COD, Halo is a piece of Easy Pie

COD does use the same tricks on Veteran this is true. I gave up on Mile High Club. MW2 was piss easy in comparison. I think MH would have been double if I had a few more seconds but time vs ai challange was the issue. I sold it now and I am glad. Wasted days on that crap.

I disagree with this, I find the COD games really easy on veteran. COD 4 had a few very unfair moments but thats about it. I actualy couldnt belive how easy MW2 was on veteran actualy.

Halo is always packed with very unfair moments, probabaly due to the fact that in comparison to COD there is less cover, bigger open spaces and theres a much more random nature to the battles.

In for instance in COD youre never going to end up triggering a checkpoint just as you have blown an enemy vechicle and its hurling through the sky towards your head....

but, oh well, storytelling never was Bungies strong point.

Noble Six is wearing some sort of re-entry unit if it helps suspend your sense of disbelief Looks like a small jetpack of some sort. Not sure how much use it would be, but it's better than landing straight on your backside.

I would agree with this at least. The randomness of the checkpoints is sometimes frustrating. It either doesn't checkpoint after doing a hard long section then yet another wave of enemies spawning in front of you or checkpoints when your about to be killed. Either way it not useful.

Tis true with the checkpoints, the linearity of COD's levels helps avoid the checkpoint issues or unfair flanking. Despite this though I just found Halo to be really easy in comparison to COD's spamfest. Certainly nothing to compare to the depths WAW mines. I'm not even that fussed with AI etc, I'd just like a balanced hard mode to be in one of the FPS series

Noble Team were based on Reach however so would have ready access to whatever armour they wanted as they wouldn't be far away if there were any issues. The Mk IIs that returned to Reach to secure the Reactors did receive partial upgrades to their Mk V armour.

I assume Bungie expect the audience to think that Spartans are just so totally badass they can survive an orbital fall. I would have preferred they did something more convincing though such as force you to fight back limping before getting into a transport and being fixed up somewhere.

I was away staying at a hotel this weekend and asked for the WPA key for the wifi so I could go online, after playing Reach rather a lot I was amused that the key was 'Spartans'. I mentioned I thought this was amusing having played Halo rather a lot, unsurprisingly it turned out the son was a Halo fan and had chosen it. Admittedly it's not what you'd expect the key to be at a golfing hotel!

John, i'm a sucker for all Halo stuff and have read all books etc. but could never recall all this details about units, equipment etc. so you seem to me like a living Halo encyclopaedia

btw, a nice little coincidence you experienced in the hotel. i guess you and the owner's son made friends immediately and you also have a new favourite golfing hotel

The main difference between the enemies though on MW and Reach is that the former can be taken down with a single headshot. Almost every enemy in Halo has a shield (which regenerates a lot faster than yours), and that takes a ton of bullets to break away.

Veteran on CoD4 is how a difficulty should be handeled. Bullet sponge enemies are not hard tbf, they are however just a waste of time and ammo.

Don't use bullets (Human weapons). Elite Sheilds are easily taken down by x 1 plasma charge shot or a round of plasma rifle ammo. Switch to human weapon and 1 headshot normally does them.

I don't think Halo would be any more fun if you died from just one hit COD style.

COD is super scripted so each death and repat is exactly the same, the enemies behave in the exact same way if you follow the same path and shoot the same enemies and throw grenades in the same place.

                          Very different games

I know. This is a method that should be followed on the higher difficulties. However, there will be times where you won't have a Plasma Pistol, so you'll have to make do with the DMR. Assault Rifle is useless.

how or where can i access a downloaded firefight game variant? my Local Files folder doesn't show them like it's supposed to do

I cant remember off-hand but you can do it from the fire-fight menu. I think I pressed start from there and then went to my local files. As I said cant remember but all the fire-fight variants are tweaking the menu options you already have in front of you for maximum points.

I've been playing Grifball Evolved last night. Brilliant to see Grifball come back and the skyball/skycourt variant with jetpacks has been well made... nothing like a flying sword to bring down a would-be scorer.
