I actually think the main story is far better than Oblivion or Fallout 3, though its a shame the rest of the game isn't near the quality. However I found a nice sewer system full of Ghouls and a little sidequest with proper colour information. Was pretty much the closest thing to Fallout 3 I have found yet.

Have had to give myself a break, the atmosphere of the game messes with my head after a while. I felt very strange when walking the dog a minute a go.
Just had a great quest though, will spolier it just in case.

I got in with Eddie, big man at The Powder Gangers HQ and did a couple of tasks for him. Then I double crossed him and stormed the prison with the NCR troops. Having Boone as my companion has made things a lot easier and it felt great to be going round the prison and getting karma for every Powder Ganger I blew away.

Started another playthrough, gonna go with the legion this time.

Found a fridge with a skeleton and a rather famous hat outside the starter city which made me lol. Shame the game just doesn't have the attention to detail that Fallout 3 did though.

Playing through again made me realise just how linear the game is until you get to the strip. You go through all the same places on your way and most of the optional stuff of the beaten track that you go to later on is 'guarded' by very strong monsters.

I'm not sure I'd concur; the world of New Vegas is open pretty much ten mins after starting out. Fallout 3 forced you through a far more linear path and for far longer. You're free to go explore as soon as you've finished with the doc. I've barely touched the main story at all and I've got 30 hours invested so far.

I agree with Marty here, i've spent a good 35hours simply just wandering doing side missions, i haven't even been into Las Vegas yet! The world, although smaller, is wide open to be explored. There are clever ways to try to lead the players down certain paths (like the walls of DeathCrawlers for instance...) but there's always, always a way around. It's also amazing just how flexible the missions are, i've spoken to various friends about their experiences and they've each done things differently. Amazing how the game copes with such unpredictable actions...

I wouldn't say smaller exactly - just more compact, I'm enjoying finding locations just as much as I did will FO3 - and there certainly seems to be just as many of them.

Nearly at level 20 now & 32 hours in & really enjoying it. Done a ton of quests but loads keep popping up still. Only thing i have to be careful of is the factions, as some quests fail if you do another so im doing them in a set order to get the achievements.

One new thing im liking is the challenges where you get awards for doing certain things in game, some of the perks they give you are pretty useful. Got damage bonuses against quite a few of the creatures wandering round the wastelands. Love the

                    snowglobe

collecting too. Upgraded my suite at the lucky 38 so thats my home now has nearly everything i need, except a healing station but thats one thing thats not included sadly.

Still no crashes yet so i think i have been outsandingly lucky so far. Was pleased to discover theres 3 kinds of nuka cola in this game, if only there was a quest for them like in the previous one.

It does seem to some degree the main storyline has multiple routes and endings. I have no idea how much it changes the outcome but at least it seems you can handle the main factions in different ways and have multiple experiences.

Just found the awesome new vegas health clinic where they will give you implants which......

allow you to increase your special stats as well as a couple of others that allow you to regen your health & make your skin like armour but the last 2 are very expensive, also depends on how healthy your body is to how many implants you can have.

Currently amassing caps for my surgery hehe

Boone as a companion makes a mockery of the walls of giant radscorpions and deathclaws those giant bees are too quick for him tho!!

Am enjoying this alot more now ive beefed up my stats...its alot more reliant on speech this time so raise that stat fast imo and you make alot more progress. Change my 4 rating to a 7/8

One annoying thing I found tho was trying to get to the legions hideout without ruining my rep with them...couldn't do it in the end as they kept attacking me even tho they were not supposed to
So i went on a genocidal rampage against them and am now super vilified

It's annoying how you're pretty much forced to wipe out most of the legion to get to an important story quest location if you don't have good rep with them

I think the only aspect of the game Im not really liking is the rep process. I have found myself in situations where Ive had no alternative than to kill everyone, thereby failing quests I would like to of done because I had to kill a important character.
