Had a go of that Top Gear test track intermidiate challenge in the Lotus last night.

Are they having a laugh with the handling on that level? Spining out in 2nd gear at 28MPH is not a Lotus at all, in fact you will would be hard pressed to do it IN ANY CAR. Lotus should sue for misrepresentation!

I take it that the Top Gear track can be unlocked for other modes somehow?

The Lotus has got 'comfort: Hard' tyres on or something in that event.

Unless your lewis hamilton , you will need skid recovery on in driver options to do this. I've tried numerous times and it always spins out , it was a big complaint on the GT planet forums too.

Get Gold in VW Samba Bus event in the Top Gear special event section and you will unlock the track for use in Arcade, TT, and Practice etc.

Englishbob: Have you tried it since the game came out? I swore never to try it again after about 30 attempts of frustration on the day it came out. I ran out of stuff to do recently so went back to it, I am sure its been nerfed and isnt so hard now because I did it second attempt. Infact I found the lotus level harder when I did that earlier on.

I said that earlier in the thread. I tried the Samba Bus event once after the patch and I did it first go.

exactly what i did, just was not getting anywhere . Plus some of the weakest engine sounds ever. shift 2 might be a better bet .

I must be hardcore when it comes to GT games (I have all the previous games and for all major regions and at some point I want the Japanese GT5!). Not to say I am a hardcore driver. I prefer my games to be fiun which is my main reason for not grinding the American Indy race for money.

I am still pretty much spending all my gaming effort on GT5. Having made use of a one of those 1000 Tickets, I am now getting a nice steady supply of new cars every day (Standards with 0 miles)! Yesterday produced a RUF "Yellow Bird", Nissan R92CP, Toyota GT-One and Jag XJ220 Road Car.

Hit Lv 29 on B spec after spending the day watching TV and sleeping while Bob did some Indy 500 repeats. Now have a decent selection of drivers in their mid to high 20's. May resort to finally letting P Newman go in favour of a Hot temperament driver.

A spec is Lv 33 at present. I need to do some X2010 Indy 500 runs to try to improve on that. Did an Engine Overhaul on the X2010 as it was down on power!

It will have a hell of a lot more content and updates, thats for sure. But I doubt that the basic flawed racing and structure of the game will change for the better. I'll happily eat my hat if that isn't so, but Polyphony are so stubbon...

I'll repeat what everyone says "ITS A DRIVING GAME, NOT A RACING GAME" so what is the big deal? The cheaters or the fact that the game allows shed-loads of corner cutting? Of course, if you are mental, its the former!!

If there is an easy way with a game people will take it. I am the first to admit I made rather good use of the Birthday Glitch before they made it less useful. I play the game to drive cars and have fun and if I can find an easy way to get the cars I will! I have a Ticket on all my secondary accounts that I use to get 0 miles cars every day. Seeing as the result of an Engine Overhaul is mileage based I am all for getting as many unused Standard Cars as possible. Another advantage is that I have been able to Gift useful cars to people on my Friends List. I would draw the line at cutting corners when competing with real people.

Now Lv 30 on B spec. Dumped my last Cool Driver (P Newman) to be replaced by R(oberto) Moreno (ex F1). Got him to Class 9 and ran an Indy 500, now Class 23. He is the first Bob to drive the X2010 properly (flat out for the whole lap). Race finished in under 2 Hours 22 minutes! Best lap was an amazing 36.104 seconds (average of just over 249 mph)! Clean laps were under 38 seconds!
