So far, it seems like the slick CarPG game-for-dads, car porn experience I'd hoped for.
Your homepage is where you start your experience. From here, you can get licensed-up, check your garage, do races, tune-up your cars, buy new/used cars, go online, view a museum, etc etc.
First thing I did was attempt to import cars from my GT PSP game. I managed to import 20-odd cars, and I'm pleased to find that they are only usable in Arcade mode, so I must grind in GT Life in order to get to use them elsewhere.
In 1080p, the menus look slick, the graphics in-game look real nice. One thing that stuck out whilst driving on the Autumn Ring was the backdrop and its trees.
One thing that looks ugly, is the shadow of your car at the start of the race. Jaggy horror. During the race, other car shadows were fine. I race in roof-view, so I get to see jaggy reflections on the bonnet. In-car view earns you the odd jaggy shadow over the dash board. It all adds to the "damn bullshots!" experience. Still probably the best looking driving game around though.
The game also sounds great through my Astro A40 Mixamp and headphones. Engines roar and growl massively. The music is during the menus is laid back lounge elevator genre. I like it, as I feel it really fits in with the "dad's driving gam..ahem experience" look of the game. During races I have music switched off.
One thing that has upset me with the sound, is that the option to turn off in-race music now affects the race-win music and trophy music during licenses
Will something like this be patched? Are you arsed? I am, so I hope so.
Online is still a place for animals, so I hope some of you gentleman racer would join me sometime for some Strong penalty races soon.
Oh my first car is a Honda Beat Version F'92.
Anyway, lots to get on with...
