Just finished it. Overall good fun, but not feeling it's that much of an improvement on the first one.

Using standard tactics that final boss is VERY difficult. Not going to say impossible, but very hard work. I read that it's best to use the contact beam, which of course I did not have, so I was thinking about dashing back to the shop in the previous chapter and either buying it or loads of health packs. Then I found this tip, which makes it a complete cake walk:

stand behind the rock that's immediately behind you with the duck and cover gap and just shoot from there. You won't get hit at all.

It was hilarious using that method as it turned from near impossible to success first time.

EDIT: Crap, just found out all the restrictions on hardcore mode. There's no way in hell I'm playing an eight hour game with only three saves.

In new game plus this really has been like skipping through a beautiful sunlit public park. Starts to become hard when you reach the

      Ishimura

. I don't know if it's the enemies or if the bountiful supply of items dries up at that point.

Just finished this on the xbox 360. I'm a huge DS 1 fan and apart from the chase parts of the last levels it's a real gem. Fecking grusome as well, but that's par for the course.

Going to do the severed DLC and maybe one final playthough..

It's quite a funny game; not Tim Schaefer funny, but ... funny.
I thought the conversation run up to the medical ward was an obvious but funny gag.

Finished this tonight after borrowing it from my nephew. (Yeah, I know i'm a bit behind the times as always!) Thought it was very, very good. Bit of a surprise really as I couldn't get in to the first one. That end section was a bit intense, made worse by me having low energy and no med packs. It's the first game in a while that's had me swearing at the TV and nearly hurling a joypad! Those credits though, how long? There must have been about a thousand people working on that game.

Finished this today has a great atmosphere although after about chapter 10 it stopped being scary and seems to go near all out action. Too many Necromorphs towards the end spoilt it, along with an awful final boss. Some parts of this game are great but towards the end for myself it went a bit flat. I hear Dead Space 1 has a more survival feel all the way through. I feel Dead Space 3 should have better movement and less Necros as well as possible boss fights at the end of each level.

I actually stopped playing when it got to the part where it was all action and a rush to the end and watched someone else do it on YouTube.

                  Great game until that point.

Recently unlocked the last weapon, with that in hand the game becomes hillarious as everything dies in one shot with your character making bang or pew noises All i have to say is i never want to see hardcore mode again, luckily you can carry the weapon to other difficulty modes.

Good on you for getting through hardcore mode, that really is an insane feat they put in the game. I keep going back to my second playthrough every now and then and I can't help getting tired of the game when compared to the original Dead Space that I played numerous times.

It's like playing chicken seeing how far you can get before you use one of your precious saves, if you can make it pretty far in before you use a save it becomes a tiny fraction easier lol, but the last few chapters are just pure evil i tell you.

I have restarted that many times that i can't play it for a while now as im burn out like i did when i hammered skyrim.

Can't imagine some of the bugger Necromorphs on harder difficulties, even with more weapons Thinking about the re generators (Spitting ones) they killed me so many times. Some bits were quite annoying especially for me the mines with the tractor thing and some of the rooms near the end must have been agony without a save!

It stopped becoming fun thats for damn sure but after seeing a video of that weapon that you unlock for completing hardcore, i was determined to get it. It did ramp up the fear factor though more than any other time as even the smallest lapse in concentration & back several hours you go.

I've seen this going for ?8 on PS3 preowned...do all the PS3 copies have Extraction included as standard, or is it only included with limited editions.

Also, is it a DLC, one-use only code, or is it on the game disc and able to be played on a pre-owned copy??

Should say ltd edition on the PS3 box at the top if it comes with Extraction. Not sure if Extraction can be bought as DLC. I bought my ltd edition 2nd hand from a CEX.
