Best FPS campaign since Half-Life 2 in my opinion. Absolutely brilliant.

Just reached the night time missions and it has gone up yet another notch.

Loved Crysis and Warhead, simply because its a different kind of fps experience, planning, strat, execution etc, and then you can reload your save and do it all again differently, great fun, so i picked up crysis 2 on release.
Great SP, looks fantastic and enjoyed it all the way thro. One of my gripes about the original, when the aliens show up, the humans disappear, I was glad to see crysis 2 had great enemy placement and just as I was getting tired of aliens, a human only level would turn up, good stuff.
Hmm what other good things can I pick out .... not sure really, the whole package is excellent, just having great fun now replaying levels and trying different strategy's or just tearing stuff up for a laugh.
Bit disappointed the story wasnt a complete continuation from the ending of crysis, lots of mysteries still to solve in that regard, but it keeps me hooked, who knows maybe even some DLC will reveal all.

Multiplayer tho sucks the big one.
When you click on a multiplayer menu and the multi client has to load separately its usually a good sign that another team handled it, god knows what b-team crytek got for this. God damn I want to like it so much too, but its just a mess. The netcode is freaking terrible, some modes are locked until you rank up....no, i payed for the god damn game, i want to play capture the whatever now - not when Im rank 349.
The client side editing allowed in the PC version of the game is insane, no dev team that had the smallest online gaming experience (as in, one of them actually played counter strike once) would make such a fundamental mistake, I guess they are paying the price, mycrysis.com has turned into a complete cluster duck of rants and tantrums.

Anyhow if you want an awesome SP experiance, grab it,
Hopefully multi will improve over the months

*edit* oh yeah bugs, didnt encounter any aside from AI sometimes getting stuck on a barricade or block, no big deal, but I did get hit by the negative nano catalyst bug on starting a new game, currently -8790 nano catalyst, kind of annoying (watch out for that one)

Don't know if it has been posted yet. Like Crysis & Crysis Warhead, someone has released a Settings Editor. Which is definitely needed for Crysis 2.

Had a quick go last night, my new gfx card has it set to extreme by default. Quite nice to see.

My thoughts *exactly* after I clocked it last night. Sublime campaign.

Free Radical did the multiplayer (the old Goldeneye & TimeSplitters guys), they are now CrytekUK. I'm not sure what to make of multiplayer in this, sometimes I think it is great but other times it feels incredibly ****. The've tried to copy CoD's template but made the unlock rate far too spread out, so even after four hours I've still only got three game modes and two weapon choices. I wish they had been braver with the design rather than try and outdo CoD, if they were going to copy any multiplayer title it should have been Battlefield or even Quake Wars. The result is a blend of Halo and CoD but not as good as either...though as I said, it can be really good at times; a tightly balanced game of Crash Site can actually be quite intense for example.

But single player is king here. Still haven't finished it - can't believe how long and consistantly brilliant it is! It shames every other FPS for the past few years (apart from maybe STALKER), I hope it sets a new trend for game design and developers move away from the utter ****e that is Call of Duty single player.

Wow really they did goldeneye? Crazy

I agree with you tho Pete, as I said, i want to like the multi so much, because I love the game, well I guess things can only improve with patches, so fingers crossed. Perhaps if we had a good forum community of players we could keep it private and fun.

Oh i also forgot to mention the soundtrack, holy god in heaven its good

*edit* oh yeah, do you have to unlock post human warrior difficulty by beating the game on superhuman?

To say this is a bit special would be an understatement, wouldn't it? Seems to blend the combat of Halo with the atmosphere of Half-Life to make probably the best FPS in years, at least in singleplayer. I haven't even finished it yet but it's one of those games where something clicks at some point and you think, this is rather exceptional. At first I was playing it all wrong, going gung ho, like in CoD etc, and dying a lot. Then I realised it's similar to Perfect Dark in a way, so decided to think smart. The suit gives you so many tactical options, it encourages you to replay certain sections, which is rare in FPS games today, considering most are heavily scripted so get old very quickly. Nanosuit for the Win. Genius....

I have to admit that the first part of the game was slightly disappointing. I mean a sun drenched NYC and generic grunts to shoot, but when it went dark and Half-Lifey and the aliens turned up, well the game ratcheted up significantly, in my opinion. Maybe the A.I. is dumb but I genuinely had my heart in my mouth at times when those super fast aliens started to appear, after you team up with your comrades in the park, and the big bastard with the rail gun or whatever starts to hunt you down. The set pieces like that are just epic.

What Crytek have done to improve on the first one is astounding. The powers have been tweaked in such a way and quickness to switch between them all just makes the combat even more dynamic than it was before. Well on the pc anyway!

It makes the original games archaic in comparison.

I finished the single player of it last night and I'd also definitely recommend it to anyone.
I played it on the PC with a 360 controller and worked great. Using the suit reminds of characters like Grey Fox or Predator.

Heh, didn't know that. But why then do the mid-level data-stream bits

occasionally morph into Prophet's speaking face?

? Does this also happen in earlier game?

Finally got this on Saturday and started playing the campaign yesterday. It's awesome! You really feel like a super soldier and the Nano Suit is wicked. It looks great and the sound and music set the atmosphere. I needed a new FPS campaign and this doesn't disappoint.

Picked this up yesterday (nearly everywhere appeared to be sold out) and spent half an hour with it or so with it. It looks amazing for sure, I thought the CoD games looked good but this is even better. Not sure what to make of the gameplay yet, mainly because I dont really know how best to tackle it. For example, I approached one of the first main shootouts, found cover and used the visor to identify targets. Whilst doing this, and bearing in mind how far away I was, I still got spotted (probably should use stealth). Also, clearly I wasnt looking hard enough as there were still soldiers I didnt spot and who turned up out of the blue as I made my way through the area, maybe it would be nice to of had a little more help in this area (like the target identification in Far Cry) so that I had a better idea of how many Im up against.

After the linear, scripted FPSs Ive been playing of late this will take some readjustment and getting used to, hopefully I can put some proper time in with it this evening.

You really can approach things exactly as you like. The visor is good, but also a bit spoileristic (In a runners vision Mirror's Edge kind of way.) I don't want a big yellow sign saying "Stealth" I'd rather find out myself. Personally I have mixed up my styles a lot, but find the stealth very important to get to the best possible position to clear the area. I'm a bit of a sniper dog, so that normally means stealthing my way to the high ground, silently killing AI to get to the top of a building, and then finding a decent spot with cover for some silenced sniper action. Takes a while to clear the area, but that's my kinda gameplay!

Very impressed, feel like I've being on an epic journey with the campaign, we went through so much together. Took me 2 1/2 hours to down one of the SkyWalkers at one point and I very nearly gave up on Super Soldier. What did annoy me was after finishing it, my achievement didn't unlock for doing so.

Im the oposite, I hardly used stealth at all, I like to switch armour on and go in guns blazing and it works just as well (especialy if you equip the upgrade to extend armour time). It just proves you can play the game any way you want too really.
