Bort and I didn't use mikes for the first two sets of levels but i think i was being a bit dense at times with some of the puzzles, lucky for me he is a patient man! If only one person has a mike can the other player him him?

It's very doable with pointing and the timer, but there are some amazing scenes later that will require the use of the chuckle muscle at the very least.
Myself and a friend did test chamber 4 without failing yesterday. The headset was essential in this instance, as I needed to apologise for getting killed on the final test, right before the exit.

I think I heard a few slight murmurs early on if you did have a headset. I remembered last night that the PSeye has a built in mic and tested it over lunch. It picked up a large amount of wind noise that I couldn't hear myself so I'd only use it as a last result incase we got Really stuck.

If you are sitting next to a pc/laptop when you game we could go through irc/IM or twitter.

I tested out PC/Steam cross play over lunch as well and it was flawless. Just a bit slow going inputting on both systems and it really lacked the coop feel.
If you don't already have a second email address and use a email service/system that doesn't recognise dots in email address (like GMail) you can use the same email address for both accounts. ([email protected] and [email protected])

The thing that has stuck with me the most is

        physically handing objects between players

. Nice change for just gunning around or taking agro away in coop/multi.

Finished both single player and co-op, both were superb. Enjoyed co-op more as it was just great to work together and solve these puzzles. It's nice to play a game with a smile on my face

The scissors-paper-stone one is easy, btw. Got mine last night as soon as gesture unlocked. Can get yours tonite?

Ah cool, as long as you can still hear me I'll use it again, I wasn't sure if you could so i took it off. I can game next to my laptop so I can skype you if you like, as long as it doesn't slow my connection down too much making the game unplayable!

Played through a big ol' chunk of this again on the PC earlier. It's just as good this time around, still have a massive grin on my face when I'm playing.

That's the one where you need to win it three times in a row isn't it? I haven't really looked at them yet.

Awesome sesh last night with 45. Managed to finish second and third suite of chambers primarily with gestures and ping beacons. No mics, but resorted to text msg on 2 occasions (apart from when farting about for trophies):

first, during out-chamber at end of 2, when I thought we needed to portal the laser into the fan-control room and 45 reminded me that lasers can in fact travel through windows ; second, when I wanted to get 45 and his portals ready for the double-drop and mid-air collision in last chamber of 3

. Other than that it was trial-and-error all the way, which made for an enjoyable pace. Using triangle button to see what your buddy is seeing while out of direct view is crucial, I think. Looking forward to working through last set of chambers later.

ps: 45 I misadvised you on the taunt Glados trophy - apparently you need to taunt her just once in every suite of chambers. Which means we we're gesturing like buffoons for no good reason lol! Checked list: we missed quite a few easy ones last night.

pps: the co-op hub looks suspiciously empty. Fingers crossed Valve will dlc some new test suites into that space.

Me and thee played through the third set and had a nice nibble on the fourth.

We ended up both using voice chat. Both using ping/txt or voice works well but only one player having voice only works if there is one dominant player that knows and controls the whole session.
Bree and I play off each other fairly well. It goes back and forth between which of us cottons on to the right solution fairly quickly. Nice balance.

Yeah, sounds pretty much the same as we had. Some of the puzzles definitely would have been easier with mics (those that require co-ordination specifically), but we bundled through anyway.

I wouldn't read too much into it until it's been done properly, although people are moaning on there I think both of them are fine even if the PS3 does edge it due to the higher resolution, real time lighting and antialiasing...and other stuff that makes no sense to me.
How is the PS3 version higher resolution? The Ps3 version runs at 720p and the Xbox360 version is 1080p!?

I cant decide which version to buy, as Steam is of no interest to me.

As its (looking to be) a relatively short part of the game, I'm quite happy to see it lengthened a little through some comical miscommunication and bungling.

Nope, both are native 720p. There're very few games running at native 1080p, the main difference between the 360 and the PS3 when set to 1080p is that the PS3 will output the games at its native resolution, but the 360 will upscale 720p games to 1080p (which is not really 1080p)

A wave of incredulity and knowing laughter rippled across the audience of last year's Sony E3 press conference as Valve…
