It's worth pointing out that you can however downgrade certain special weapons to +10 versions of their normal counterparts (which you can then use with the boss souls). For instance I did this with a lightning spear to get a +10 spear.

It's doing alright for me so far, but I can't help but get the feeling the fact I can't upgrade the base gear is going to bite me on the ass quite hard when I get further on in NG+.
Really depends on whether you want to PvP/ PvE as well.
But you definitely want the antiquated skirt. Best lower leg armor bar non. It's upgradeable, albeit the frustrating twinkling titanite route.

Pro-tip - real men wear skirts.

      Try a mix of:
      dusk helm
ornstein chest (or anything that gives a bit of poise without sacrificing too much movement)
      hard leather gloves
      Antiquated skirt

It's not a pro armour, as that's what i'm using (SL 45 pyro) but provides a bit better defense/ poise than regular gold hemmed.

Without the hub from Demon Souls there's even more backtracking despite the shortcuts. I had hoped when they mentioned this bonfire idea as a replacement for the hub that you could teleport between them. I'm at the end of Ash Lake and now have a long long way to go back past a whole load of curse frogs who can ruin your character. I'm lucky to have good pyromancy spells, would be very risky to take them on without good ranged attacks.

Does anyone know if there is a way to cheese the Faith stat outside of helping others beat bosses? Currently 133 (I think) and it's going to be impossible to find people within 10% of me.

          edit, Shoju.

Beat the boss at the end of the Anor Londo and you'll get the ability to warp.

edit #2, head melted earlier and I put the wrong area

Infinite souls glitch? It appears to be all the rage now, yesterday in Firelink I saw three "ghosts" near the bonfire happily using it.

Finishing up now, have just the last boss to go. SL83 and about 55 hours.

Didn't learn all of Laurentius' pyromancy spells and he went to the Blighttown swamp and turned mad! Grrr.

Bit of crafting and finishing up Big Hat Logan's business and I think I'll have a crack at that boss!

Btw. that infinite souls glitch is going to ruin the game. So sad

Ahh, hadn't heard about the glitch. A bit skeezy but it could be helpful if I don't find any people in the last few bosses in NG+.

god knows how you glitch souls but it must be something to do with one of the emotes as i always see other peoples ghosts at camp fires doing some sort of emote with their arms continually for ages.

If the ghosts you see look like they are screaming, yes. If they are waving or forming a "Y" with their bodies they are only greeting.

When you first descend Blighttown, as you reach the bottom instead of turning right and heading to the bonfire and quelaag, go forward and to the left. Walk up the root and there are two hidden walks inside the stump (the second behind the chest).

I have it! I will wear my black hemmed stuff with my ring from Yurt 2.0 and havel's ring (fast running due to maximum weight load increase). I also have a stack full of greens! thanks for the advice.

And after reading the previous posts I will exit my existing convent to join the one down there

Currently I am of the convent of the princess guard. What is the advantage?
