Ring of Fog, Hawk Ring, a decent bow and Moonlight arrows if you bonuses aren't high enough; you can attack the knights from the tower after the first ramp.
An attacked knight will notice you after the first arrow lands so you have to retreat and wait until the alerted knight has stopped firing, but it's doable.
Keep in mind that dragonslayer arrows have a huge recoil if they hit you, don't stand near the border.

Finished NG++ on PS3 for this.

Just started again on 360 with a Pyromancer, knowing what to do really makes it a lot easier in the earlier stages. Saying that, starting from the beginning is great fun because you feel vulnerable again.

      Happy.

Been 2 weeks since I played this now. Struggling to bring myself to get back in there. Not sure why as it's my GOTY by miles. I think it's just because I know it;s stopping me doing pretty much everything else in my life that needs doing. If the missus nods off early tonight I'm going back in.

Thankfully you'll never need face those knights again, but for others here who may be having problems I found the best tactic is to

make your way up to the last safe spot (the last central pillar), wait there for the knight on the right to shoot at you, when he does immediately sprint up to the very top ledge and walk towards him (ignoring the knight on the left) so you can recover your stamina and simply roll under his arrows when he fires at you, once you get up close to him he'll exchange his bow for a sword and at that point cut him down (make sure your weapon, preferably a spear or weapon you can thrust, is equipped in your right hand).

          Job done.

haven't got any of these as i am on my first playthrough. hence i guess using arrows is the least reasonable option here, especially since bow sniping from cover is still a pain in the ass. i bet i've wasted half of my arrows due to the poor aiming mechanics in this game. needs fixing but not much games seem to complain about it.

i did this countless times but the knight always refused to fall down. it's also worth mentioning that you can get hit in the back from the knight on the left side making this passage very very tricky and even if you have the right tactic you need some luck.

There's an element of luck involved, definitely. And lots of frustration too.

Running around in Sen's Fortress now. Have modified my hollow shield to +10. Feels like I can block anything now. That will probably get me killed soon I guess

Question: if I use rotten resin on my bow, will the arrows be poisoned?

levelling up by helping other people out in boss fights seems like a great idea but I have yet to figure out how this works. does it take long to get into a coop game?
I think the occasional flashes are just there to remind you that you are not alone, these are people on 'your server' if you like. Regarding boss fights you can be hollow or human, hollow is the advisable path when co-oping with bosses. Place your summon sign near a boss or near a tricky run of enemies and basically wait for another player who is in human form to summon you.

Near Boss fog doors are a common location as people tend to go human just so they can summon hollows near the boss door. In regards to how long it takes it depends on who in the world is human, in that location and able to see your sign, hence tricky bosses increase your chance of being summoned. I went Human in

                  Painted world of Armeris

& I saw a shed load of summon signs at the entrance of the level. Seeing as though you cannot leave the level unless you completed it was a good place to be summon/be summoned and gain souls. Once I completed it I went back in and was summoned 4 times by different people, each time we would kill the boss. Healthy chunk of souls!!

How is your faith? If I was to do that part again I would take 'emit force' with me I think it would work very well when up close to the knight on the right.

What is the knight on the left guarding? I never went back to check.

It's not poor aiming mechanics,it's how they work.
Each bow has a range (for example the longbow has more range than the composite bow, but the composite bow hits harder) and even with the Hawk Ring (extendeds bow range) these knights are outside of most bows (haven't tried with the dragonslayer). Within max range arrows will always hit whatever is in the sight, past that arrows will start to lose momentum (arching toward the ground), damage and will deviate to the right. To make a good use of a bow you also need to factor this.
The Ring of Fog can be obtained through trade, the other two items are past those knights, so if it's your first playthrough you just have to be extremely patient and/or very lucky.
Ive found out that the best way is to run up to the final passageway, go right and roll whenever you hear a bow firing; once you reach the rightmost knight just block his attacks while pushing to the right, without targeting or attacking, he'll soon push himself off the ledge.

                      No, you need poison arrows.

How the hell do I even hit the

Stray Demon? As soon as I land he does some kind of "red" attack and I die without him even hitting me

                        .
                        Kept you waiting, huh?

Get behind him and move away when the shockwave/mist is going to hit you. You can't defend.

I can't get behind him. As soon as I land he does it and I die instantly. It's happened about 50 times in a row now.

Drop down in a different place then.

Just in case something is buggered and he is constantly aggro'ed and in a different place, try going back firelink then return.

Drop down from the edge near the door you came in when you returned (the big iron door openend with the Pilgrim Key) and you'll be near enough to sprint toward it and roll between its legs to get behind it.
