After one and half playthroughs Im yet to actually find one.

White can be found just before Nito in the Tomb of Giants - the path just leading up to his fog door has a drop off into a tunnel on the left you take, the slab is at the end. Blue is on a hidden walkway in Crystal Caves - after you take the first hidden walkway, walk along the crystal and then drop down (as if you were going to fight Seath), but go the other way back through the cave and out the other side - you have to follow an annoying bendy invisible path but you can see the slab on a corpse from a distance. Red is in Lost Izalith - just before the boss there's the floor that collapses and drops you into a big swampy area full of Chaos Eaters - it's down there. You can also trade with an ascended Pyromancy flame with Snuggly. Plain titanite slab is easiest to get by beating the Stray Demon back at the Northern Undead Asylum, but I believe they're also a mega-rare drop from one of the New Londo enemies, and a reward for seeing through the majority of the Siegmeyer / Sieglinde storyline.

hmm, Ive been to most of those places and never found any slabs!!.

Although now I think about it maybe I did get a slab from

      Stray Demon

and like a silly bugger broke it down into shards instead of saving it.

At least you can farm it from the dark wraith enemies in water drained new londo. Rare drop though.

Down the lift at fire link, run to the first 2 ghosts, ver right and roll off just right of the stairs. Get ready to fight 5/6 Dark Wraiths!

I can vouch for all of those slab locations.

I wouldn't bother purposely going for rare drops as, the truth is, they're beyond rare. Even holding 30+ loose humanity (which apparently increases item discovery) and having the Covetous Gold Serpent Ring (which boosts item discovery) equipped, the odds of getting rare drops are rarer than rare. Better to seek items out where you know they exist than waste your time on a shadow of a hope.

I like the Balder sword. I already have a +5 lightning uchi and a +5 Queelag's Fury sword though. Say I upgrade the Balder sword to +5 fire, would it be more powerful than the Fury sword? My character is focused on DEX.

Dont fire upgrades remove scaling from weapons?

Their strength depends on their attack values alone I think it depends on what the stats are.

I'll spoiler this incase people wanna find it themself but the best weapon I discovered was the

Gravelord Sword which when modified to +5 does around 400 damage. The Dragon Greatsword modified to a +5 will do 500+ damage but, even with 50 strength, is too slow and heavy to use effectively and drains stamina in no time. Not only is the Gravelord super light meaning you can swing it 5, 6 7 times in quick succession but, best of all, it looks incredible, and if you're also kitted out in the gold-hemmed black armour set then it looks even better. You genuinely look like Death himself running around with a huge Sword made of bone slung over your shoulder. It's super cool. From memory, I think you get the Gravelord from joining Nito's covenant. It's one of those weapons that, a bit like the Drake Sword early on in the game, once acquired makes progression considerably easier.

                  Finished!

Took me 5 goes to kill Gywn. I thought I would finish the game off in a nice, cheap style!

Fire ring, Iron Flesh, Black Iron Armour +2, mask of child and a 2 handed black knight sword +5. Cleaned him off quick as some of his hits and even grab don't register during the 2 handed animation. Plus some 2 handed hits stagger him. Finished path of the dark lord, no idea why but there you go!. Rubbish ending!! what a journey though

So in the end I am left with the question is it better then Demon Souls? I answer No....and Yes! It does not try and be Demon Souls 2 IMO. I think they said ‘If we were making it again from scratch with the knowledge of the first game what direction would we go? It’s a side step, an alternate version. The open world feels organic, beautiful and the Bonfire system works very well. Not since resident evil 1 have I had moments where I was praying for a safe place to be just around the corner. (In Demon Souls it was praying to unlock a short cut). I will not forget my 2 hour journey in the Tomb of the Giants any time soon

especially since I did not have the lord vessel!!

At first I despised the games online system due to a lack of understanding. Now I know it very well and it is well thought out, even though it takes me 15 goes to invade someone with the blue eye orb. The convent system works well but it is a shame so many great games are out just as people are beginning to understand and stick to one convent. I still think the match making system is somewhat broken.

You know a game is GOTY contender when you switch it on and you feel like you are at home, you feel part of its twisted, unforgiving world. You know every path way, every enemy weakness and every short cut.

I find it hard to give 10 out of 10s. For me it means no improvement could be made and there certainly is room for improvement on the multi player side of things. So 9 is my starting point and I knocked it down due to it tailing off towards the end in terms of location and bosses.

Izalith is such a cheap area, Bed of chaos such a cheap boss

                  .

So it's a very solid 8 from me. Like Demon Soul's I won't forget the game in a hurry and I look forward to coming back to it some time in the future.

I think rmoxon is right, scaling is removed from the modified element weapons.

In my new game I have a +5 lightning gargoyle tail axe. Which is a beast.

Well the Fury sword has a B in DEX scaling and 270 fire at +5, so I find it hard to compare them on paper. I think I'll just upgrade the Balder sword and test it.

Remember that the Fury Sword's fire damage scales with humanity (maxes out at 10 humanity points). However, fire is the major component of this sword's damage output and against certain enemies (

                        Centipede demon

first and foremost) it will be almost useless.

Personally I love the Balder sword, the thrust can be performed three times in quick succession and it deploys faster than the Japanese blades (which have a slightly higher power). I never got on with the Fury sword for some reason...

Isn't it the Chaos sword that scales with humanity?

The Chaos Blade needs massive DEX and Humanity to be any good IMO. Plus it kills you.

In other news. I know what the Pendant does now.

Pyromancies with "Chaos" in their name should (but some -or all- are bugged and won't), but it's the Furysowrd scaling with humanity. The Chaos blade well with dexterity but not with humanity.
