I like it, some of it is tied to ammo and herbs, some of it is tied to in game achievements. It adds to the atmosphere in my opinion.

FWIW you don't scan in Raid mode which is arguably the meat of the package anyway.

I find it a chore and just serves to bump up play time. Can't really skip it either as you need the health and ammo items - it's not an optional extra. All that said, it's not a total pain in the ass and certainly not a deal-breaker for me at all. You just get used to scanning each location before moving on.

The scanning part of things is fine once you realise you've got a little indicator at the bottom right of the screen that goes yellow when an item is scannable nearby.

You can just equip scanner, quickly hold in L, if that doesn't go yellow, nothing to scan here so move onto the next room.

Maybe adds about 5 seconds per room if nothing's scannable?

What's so good about it? I haven't tried it yet.

Well you got rpg lite elements too it, in which you level up your characters, then you find different weapons and can also buy them from the store with currency you get completing the missions, and play coins too, plus its just small bit size missions that can take from 5 minutes to 15 minutes to complete , all the while trying to get S rank on all them, plus theres a few different difficulty levels but you got to complete the easiest first, called chasm, just unlock it and try it, its awesome.

I'm on around chapter 9 or 10 now and still very much enjoying this. I actually think it's pretty great. Yes, I have my issues with the enemies (zombies would have made this game about 100 times creepier) and scanning (no big deal) and breaking it up with other characters (this one has a bit more impact unfortunately) but the main game parts are really enjoyable. I still love the location and had to laugh out loud when

as predicted in my earlier post, sure enough I found a secret lab in the ship.

The watery parts I have found to be very tense and there's loads of them.

I do sometimes feel like RE doesn't know whether it wants to be a horror game or an action game and this definitely tries to be both. While I don't think this is hugely successful at either, the middle ground still makes for a fun game. And the story has been interesting enough, even if I still feel like I missed the whole deal about Jill looking for Chris at the beginning.

Can't see me getting into raid though. Only had a little go but I just don't find the combat all that interesting.

Personally I find the enemies in this much creepier than zombies and a decent alternative! It might have been nice if it'd had zombies as well, but I didn't really miss them. I finised it last night, the graphics on the penultimate boss were awesome, a definite high point. The last chapter wa really cool as well. The final boss seemed a far cry from Tyrant in the first game though.

Zombies are much creepier than slimy monsters.... That's just a fact.

I don't know why they didn't use zombies, I miss zombies in RE games. Raccoon City better be good.

I guess they may have felt that they exhausted zombies at this point. Or maybe they wanted a way to reduce the violence commited by the player in the 3DS version? Violence against non-human forms is usually seen as more acceptable.

But the more human enemies are definitely creepier for me. There is a sense of tortured souls with the zombies and even in this one with
whose humanity makes her much creepier for me. Right at the start of the game there is a mutated body found. That sort of mid-point human transformation could have been a way of moving slightly away from basic zombies but still being creepy. The colourless, faceless shapes may as well be wooden targets to me in this one. No sense of who they are and, with that, no creepiness.

                          The

                          Communications Officer

works well for similar reasons as
                          . Especially when you

                          read his journal afterwards

                          .

For the most part, I've enjoyed this a lot (currently on what I believe is the final episode). Feels like the game has gone back to the roots of "classic" Resident Evil in terms of tone and atmosphere albeit from the third person perspective of the more recent games. Probably the best compromise we can expect these days for fans of the traditional games. Lots of cool little references to the first game too like the

severed hand clutching a gun, draining the bathtub and "itchy, tasty..." style journals of the infected

                          .

Still one or two little problems. Probably some sections still feel a little too combat orientated for the controls to handle it well. The sections with the water enemies for example. They pop up out of the water and unless you get lucky with how your sights lineup when you enter aim mode they're back underwater again and about to pounce on you.

Certainly, I'm struggling to see myself clearing the mission of completing the game without using any herbs any time soon. In fact, it's this one mission that makes me wonder if I'm playing the game wrong at times. Feels like certain sections I've only managed to clear from spamming a few herbs. Must need to get better with the dodge command. My favourite boss fights have been the ones where I've been able to get the timing of their attacks down and dodge consistently.

                          Comment

I really haven't managed to make the dodge move work for me at all. No idea what I'm doing wrong really - sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't but I'm too inconsistent at it to make it worth the risk. And yes, I've had to spam the herbs too - especially that

                            timed bit

                            .

The raid mode sounds awesome, Im really tempted to pickup a 3ds for the resi titles.

Although I've no idea if the 3d will give me headaches, which i have a bad feeling it will
