Why who are you today? Resident Evil 2? Seriously why wouldn't you want to buy and play it?? guess your giving Capcom a statement?? Sorry to inform you RE hasn't been about horror and tank controls for ages, for everybody like that just buy a Wii and all the old games and never darken your door at the forum about RE in modern times.

Let alone that chick that was being put there because of racism accusations. Really, daylight Africa as a setting for RE was one of the most retarded decisions in modern gaming.

RE6 is not a RE4 hack job for a change, its a game with its own mechanics and enemies. The co-op actually works and you don't have to babysit in solo play at all; its much like Gears.

Really good features of RE6 are the scenes where all lead characters meet and other players could be thrown in your game to tackle a huge boss. Or they can enter as an enemy type.
Resident Evil 5 was a fantastic addition to the franchise which in turn was commercially validated despite a very vocal minority of distracters. I get the feeling that everything you've said here is the reason why some people will probably have a real aversion to 6 - Whether you like 6 seems to be driven by how little said person thinks of 5.

Done 2 chapters of Leon now and thought it was brilliant. , I'm going to do another chapter later, but have nothing but positives to say about the game, and its much better than 5

I just dont understand the hate at all, for years people are complaining about the tank controls, then Dead Space comes and people are like RE should be like this game. So RE does become more Dead Spacey and other games, i think more people complained about the AI and Sheva's character, i'd say make sure you try and play co-op, i know this isnt 100% possible, but with internet access this shouldn't be too impossible. The story is crazy but ain't they all.Maybe i should go back into the RE5 thread and see what most people's beef about the game is?

Resi 5 certainly isn't a great game, it is just about a good one but 6 seems to fix so many of the issues of 5. Crap AI partner, too many areas with sunlight and tank controls. The demo still has issues but I cannot wait to pick the full game up on tuesday after work.

hate? i did not notice any around here, just some more or less founded critics...

i've already sold my RE6 copy - will get me the 360 version when it's cheap - which will be sooner than later i guess.

from what i've played and seen of the game this is very much like Uncharted minus the free climbing. Tomb Raider will follow suit...

I'm really enjoying this. A friend and I pretty much marathoned Leon's story last night. It's certainly a hell of a lot of fun with a partner. I think a lot of people I know haven't wanted this as they're seeing the series through retro-rose-tinted-glasses. Maybe I'm just different from a lot of them, and I like to enjoy each game as it is. It may be completely different from the first RE's I played, but those weren't without their flaws. They clearly wanted to evolve the series from its survival horror roots, and I'm okay with that because I'm enjoying the game I'm playing. If others aren't, that sucks.

What annoys me is people say the game is **** because it's not the type of game they were expecting. No, it's not ****. It's just not how the series has ended up evolving.

I did think 5 was okay. It had lots of flaws and got boring after a while (but I was determined to finish it), but think this is a huge improvement on 5. A few of the characters might be throw-aways and there's no real impact in

the crossovers (IE: Leon-Sherry, Chris-Leon) but it's a neat idea to throw back to the crossovers

of the first few games. Count me in for Res 7,

as it's obvious they've used this game to set that up.

                    Yup. My thoughts exactly.

To all the haters (me included)
                    Get over the hump that:
                    - you're not in a mansion
                    - you're not doing painting puzzles
                    - you're not the master of unlocking

                    And then you'll enjoy it.
Yes, it's not a Mansion-esque/ police station atypical Resident Evil. But the series have evolved, and the way the series is going, cannot stick to a mansion (or one setting) forever.

Much like the Mass Effect 3 ending debacle. This isn't your story to tell, no matter how much you've personally invested into the series. I'd like to see a traditional Resident Evil, but it ain't going to happen.

Personally, I like RE6 with it becoming more in line with common third person shooters, in the fact that you have more evasive and offensive moves at your disposal.
People moaned about tank controls and not being able to dodge. Now the same people are moaning that you can do that now.

                    Mind. Boggled.

Once I'm done with all the chapters (solo) I can't wait to tackle them co-op.

                        Ouch destructoid!

Jim really didnt hold back, even going as far as to say that it makes the movies look like works of art!

He was bang on the money with his review of Silent Hill HD collection too.

Who the hell have they had work on this?

I only have the bonus scenario left and to me this game is a lot like MGS4. Its grand, its epic, its inconsistent, its dubious. But like MGS4 its a game like none other, you can't really compare it to any other out there.

I'm glad I didn't miss out although I was very suspicious about the demo. This just a fresh air between all the by the numbers FPS and annual Creed game. I feel this generation is lacking in big budget Japanese software. Most of the current blockbusters are without an own identity nowadays. Although RE did dump the original tank control horror games (they are short, solo only and don't sell anymore), its like I said an unique experience.

Wasn't the word on the street that 600 people worked on this? Seems a lot to me. Thought the demo was ok, nothing spectacular but quite fun, didn't convince me that I needed to rush out and buy it on day 1. Will probably pick this up when I've cleared a few more games from my backlog.

I'm in two minds about this. On the one hand, I've just started the campaign on Leon's side and it really starts off very slowly, single path to follow for the first 10/15 minutes that's very dull. I can understand that they're trying to setup some tension but it just doesn't quite work, namely because your movements and actions are so restricted. Rather than feeling as though you have full control and anything can happen at any moment, you have minimal control and so accept you can't really do much about anything. Bit weird. But it does pick up, I like the new combat and the drop in, drop out co-op. Parts of the game look impressive, parts look completely bland and out of place as if Capcom were determined to fit the game on one disk and so dropped some detailed textures.

I'm willing to stick it and see how it pans out.

And then there's Mercenaries. I'll admit, when I first booted this up the thing I was most disappointed about was that Mercenaries wasn't on the main menu, fortunately it unlocks after the prologue. The new Mercenaries feels awesome, the new combat system really works for it. Now you can dash around levels sliding into hour glasses, shooting while sliding along the floor and Helena has this great move with the Hydra that has her evading while firing the weapon. It hasn't quite adopted the customization of The Mercenaries 3D, weapons are preset as with RE4 and 5 and you can only pick one skill rather than three (which is weird as the campaign lets you pick three).

Last night, I managed with a random to blitz Subway with a 130 kill chain for S rank at around 640,000 points and we hadn't had that many stabs at it. Not sure if that's because it's a bit easier or because I'm completely used to the double tap, melee, time bonus rhythm that the game has had for years.
