The first part of the leon opener is poor isn't it, it really goes into overdrive later though.

Started the Chris campaign last night because I'd heard that this was the worst of the three. It's mental. The graphics seem much better than the Leon phase too but maye that's just me? Loving the grenades, proper death dealers. I'm really getting into the rythmn of the combat too, been doing some severe headshotting now I got the steady hand upgrade. The shotgun is meaty as ****! Doing a forward roll then blowing some poor pussbags legs off is a thing of beauty!

If Resident Evil 4 was Capcom's Dawn of the Dead then this is their 'Zombie Flesh Eaters'. Unbalanced, uncultured, maybe lacking a coherent structure but crazy good fun.

It reminds me of a mix of dead rising with dead space with the mental pacing of uncharted. I'm pleased I bought it, pretty tough though you get swarmed really really easy

Playing online co-op with a mate from start to finish. First thing we did was to turn the hub off as the way point marker ruins the tension. Yes you lose the hub too but the game is all the better for it and in fact all games would be better like this. Also turned of the gamertag names for a more organic feel.

The game is superb fun. We know of the issues so I won't go into those but for the first 2 hours we have had a blast. When things get busy you really have to work together for maximum survival and conservation of ammo. Lots of context kill in melee attacks. The handguns can give squishy headshots, shotguns are amazing too. The bit when you remove a head and it slides down the back of the neck is amazing.

        Really enjoying it.

Really enjoyed Leons campaign so far, not done too much yet but really like the co-op element of the game as you do have to work properly together as a team to get through a tough spot especially if you have turned off the HUD and gamertag names.

This has one thing which Resi 5 didn't which from what I've seen of leons campaign so far is plenty of atmosphere. Playing the game in a nighttime setting is so much better than last time.

I also got used to the camera pretty quickly although I agree it isn't great and once I got to grips with the controls everything flowed pretty comfortably and I just found it to be great fun.

I know the other scenarios are not supposed to be as good as leons but I get the feeling in co-op it will be ok. I'm very glad I bought this day one.

I've done Chapter 1 of Jakes campaign, it's hard to get the Resi feel from it and there are some design niggles but... I did enjoy it.

Giant Bombcast guys chat about this for about an hour. The game as a whole sounds so-so and very clunky unfortunately, graphics sound impressive though. I'll still buy it as the co-op should be fun. Wondering whether to wait for it to drop to about ?20 though. Impressions of the Bomcast guys is good and indepth good/bad parts about it. 02/10/12 podcast. In the podcast they seemed quite distressed to how good they thought and wanted it to be, and what it is like. Quite a few niggles in the game as mentioned by others.

Yeah Mercs started to grow on me too. It looks like a downgrade at first, 3 maps, less crowded... but the mechanics make Mercs more exciting. If you're a skilled player, you can opt to counter kill the crimsons and use the evasive moves and quick shot on certain enemies (do it on enemies armed with shovels etc, you can insta melee kill it after a quick shot). I managed 148 kills on Urban Chaos with a randomer, just an A rank.

I also think lying down and rolling isn't a gimmick. It works great against dogs and lizards. They tend to miss a lot when you're on your back.

Ok my advice to anyone playing this game, turn the hud off. You lose the health bar full time but you also lose the waypoint marker. It ramps the tension up ten fold and is much more atmospheric as a result. You can view ammo by simply using the change weapon option if you want or you can press L1/LB to see the hud. The downside of pressing L1 is that if you hold it, it will show you were you are meant to be going. Personally I like not knowing my health as you have to gauge the reaction of the character to work it out.

Aye, that's the first thing I did. Makes a big difference. Only played a little of Leon's campaign last night. Few too many cut-scenes but when you're playing it's actually good fun. Liking it so far.

I've been doing the same thing for melee weapon enemies, quick shot then melee for insta kill, it's also really handy against the dogs. For some reason Urban Ruins is proving quite hard to S rank, keep losing the chain at around 60-70 kills. The magnum police and snipers are a real pain in the backside as a shot from them nearly always puts you on your arse, the snipers in particular sit on the trams in the middle of map giving them line of sight over the whole area.

The 3 DLC maps are pretty decent, I'm hoping there will be more to follow. Subway has my best score and chain so far, but I reckon I can toast that another decent co-op player.

Will have to give this a try, still finding out the best ways to kill certain enemies and this could work well.
Loving the normal melee and Sprint melee attacks, something that works very well with the game and adds to the fun factor.

The melee attacks are superb. Running along through a load of enemies to jump kick a zombie that is attacking your partner is a brilliant moment.

Just picked this up, how's everyone playing the campaigns? Is it wise to play a chapter from each one at a time, or just play one at once?

also when exactly does this save my game?

I'm playing them in order starting with Leon but there is no right way to do it. There is a guide out there on the web which tells you the sequence of events if you want to see them in order but I can't be bothered with jumping in and out of each campaign.

The game saves when ever a type writer appears in the top left of the screen. Its important to remember that a checkpoint and a save are not the same thing, so if you turn the game off after reaching a checkpoint you'll end up having to do that whole section again.
