The only black and white I want to see is on my Game Boy Pocket screen.

Nintendo Wii U - review

So, almost a fortnight after receiving it (thanks to Far Cry 3), I'm finally getting properly stuck into this now - after a slow start, I've realised that I now really, really adore this console. There are some quirks for sure, but there's also so much fun to be had with it.
It's just a real feel-good console where games (and a community of people with a love of games) come first. Miiverse is a lovely, lovely idea, and it's great to be able to access it (and other elements such as the browser) without closing the game (although I kind of wish there was an option to keep the game running on the telly whilst accessing those elements on the gamepad).
After spending a bit of time on Nintendo Land, it's Little Inferno that I've been fully absorbed by, and it's been a delightful way to get fully acquainted with the new console.
Zero regrets, zero buyer's remorse, I'm thoroughly chuffed with this now and I can't wait to take it to the parents' place over the Christmas break for some family multiplayer - I get the feeling Nintendo Land and New Mario are gonna be an absolute hoot.

Likewise. I shouldn't be using it because it's for Christmas....
...But i couldn't resist and have had some cheeky plays while the wife was out. My excuse is I wanted to get all the updates installed for the day, she of course doesn't need to know I've been playing... even after it was all installed, haha.
The console itself is lovely. So many little touches that bring a smile to my face - such as the extra audio beats coming from the gamepad, the miis in the main mii plaza, the miss looking all nice and shiny while chatting to each other, being able to seamlessly switch from TV to pad, or use the pad as a TV remote etc and yes Miiverse is such a great place to hang out. It has reminded me there are actually cool gamers out there that enjoy their hobby / passion - not just moany arseholes. After Christmas I can see myself using miiverse more to engage in games - I find that i smile and enjoy just browsing people's comments / sketches. A wonderful idea almost perfectly executed.
Nintendoland is going to be a blast on Christmas, I've played it enough to 'unlock' the menu screen for quick game access, now it's just a waiting game. 13 more sleeps!

I miss mine, been so busy the last week with work and other real life obstacles that I have barely had time to switch the thing on. Bought Trine at the weekend and haven't even had the time to play that once. I don't want to sound like a rabid fanboy but the more I play the more I think that if you don't like it then you are dead inside.

I do love how much...love this console is getting here. The only negative people are those who don't have one.
I get to test if it is region free when my copy of MH3GHD arrives (I'm expecting the worst sadly). In theory we can now go into the Japanese MiiVerse and see what they are saying about the game...

High fives for MrMarbles' and Adam's posts back there. Couldn't agree more, it's just a joy to sit down with and it's properly reinvigorated my love for Nintendo.
I've been dabbling in the miiverse for secret level hints in Mario and it makes me hope we see a Wii-U Dark Souls 2. The first play thread here for Dark Souls was just grand and a dedicated DS2 community in the Miiverse would be killer!

Now I'm trying to decide between Inferno and Might Switch Force. Tempted towards the latter but should probably unlock more tanks on TTT instead.

Well, I've caved and ordered one. ?289 for premium with Tekken - think Blunty's series of reviews swung it for me. Will I be wracked with guilt for the purchase just a week after spending ?429 on a new DSLR kit and extra lens? Most likely (although that was a steal of a price with ?90 quid cash back to come in and the cash I got from my old one, plus it SHOULD have cost over ?600 on John Lewis' website so the saving has almost paid for the console).
Shall be going away until Christmas once it arrives, very few things are more joyful to a gamer on Christmas morning than the feel of a new piece of hardware
