Good game. I'm finding the combat a little easy, even on hard mode, and that it gets a bit samey, but love exploring the island and farming skins for upgrades. The game looks stunning at times too.

I got a new PC over Xmas and this was the first (and so far only!) game I've played on it. It takes quite a lot to hook me into a game these days as I can go for a few months at a time without playing anything, but I've been putting playing time in on this almost every day since I first loaded it up.

The setting: I love just randomly trekking through the jungle to see what I can find, what I'll stumble across. When I see the sun start to set I find myself quickly trying to get to higher ground so I can admire the sun setting over the landscape It sucks you in and makes you feel like you're on a genuine adventure.

Safe houses: taking back the safe houses from the pirates is great. Sneaking around in the undergrowth scouting out the enemy positions, working out the best way to take them all out, then putting the plan into action. It gets especially tense when you make a misstep and think you're going to get discovered, but even if you do it's a great adrenaline rush to suddenly get into an all out firefight for your life! When it all goes like clockwork though, I love the satisfaction of capturing a safe house without raising any alarms or being discovered.

Then there are the times you're in the middle of deciding what to do and you suddenly hear a cry of "****! It's a bear!" and you sneak in and take advantage of the chaos! The random influence of the wildlife on proceedings has lead to many exciting and hilarious moments.

There's a lot more I could mention but those are the quick highlights for me. Excellent game and I don't think I'll put it down until I've completely rinsed every ounce of game play out of it.

I am re-playing on Xbox 360 as I loved it on PC. I must say that dissapearing guns and bodies on the 360 is a real PITA for a sniper warrior! :/

1k 'd this game now, I wish they'd given achievements out for all the relics. Not sure if I'm going to be playing it more now, got about 40 hours out of it!

Anyone else **** scared of going in the sea? I can't bring myself to do it. I just about manage to use a jet ski to get from one island to another. I think if I fell off the boat/Jetski into the open water I would pause the game and fast travel, if that was not available to me I would quit to dashboard.

I blame the black crab in Gribbley's day out (C64 game)

It took me a while to get the diving achievement, yes! Every time I get attacked by a shark it scares the **** out of me.

Is it strange that I really dislike killing the animals in the game but have no worries about machine gunning a group of men in the back?

Nope I had to make a ?2 a month thing to the RSPCA the amount of guilt I was feeling for the maulings, poor cute tigers ...or something

I try to run them over, feel like I am just utilising road kill rather than being a blood thirsty game hunter.

I really don't mind, with most of them it's a them or me situation and I know which of the two I'd prefer. Also they are only stunt animals rather than real ones! It's worth killing a couple of chickens just to read the journal entry.

The rocket launcher can be an interesting way to hunt animals, I took out four or five deer and a bear in a single shot once. Not sure there would have been much left of use in the real world but after the forest burnt out and I put myself out I was still able to collect the assorted chunks!

You both want to do your best to avoid the Testing Unit in the Lost Expedition story then, trust me.

Is this French-Canadian humour, all these desperately 'arch' wisecracks in the item descriptions? Ranging from apartheid to bestiality to mother-in-law gags. The writer should have been fed to the sharks.

I have finally competed it. Didn't give a **** about the rubbish story, characters or dialogue I did love taking out enemy camps in different ways. Sometimes I tanked it with a massive machine gun, sometimes I got the silenced pistol and stealth kills out, or sniped people from far.

One laugh out loud moment was when I managed to sneak into the middle of a small-ish camp, stick some C4 on down near an explosive barrel, sneak back out of camp and throw 2 stones either side of the C4. All the enemies wondered over and stood around the C4, BOOM!, cleared the camp with one C4.

I was not a fan of Sharks or alligators. Every times I had to cross a river or swim to an island I would use my binos to ensure there was no bastard man eating animal waiting for me. I am too chicken to attempt the deep diver achievement.

The wing suit is a great touch, almost killed a man after gliding from a hill top but failed to notice he was standing behind a fine fence

The deep diver achievement is easy as there is a massive drop off right by one of the shorelines.

There is me thinking deep diver was where you had to dive as deep into the ocean as you could. I should read the description next time.

Yeah you do but I got the name mixed up. It's called Fearless or Stupid...

Basically look on the map shoreline to the east, zoom in and the is a large dark circle near the end of one beach. It's basically a huge trench and I think there's a relic near it as well. Use a syringe and just swim all the way down. It's a bit freaky but you get the cheev for it.
