Dogg Thang you've summed up many of my own thoughts on this game, a few months on from having played it.

This game has great, immersive cutscenes, but the fairly mediocre stealth zombie killing and cover shooting left me cold in retrospect.

Looking back at a game like Shenmue, it had rudimentary cutscenes with poor voice acting and basic animation. But because of the consistency of the world and the illusion of agency in doing whatever I wanted, I was totally immersed.

I guess the thing for me is that I love rich game worlds in my story driven games. I just think it's a better use of videogames as a format for storytelling than being funnelled constantly forwards - TLoU felt a bit like a ghost train.

It's still a good game though, with great cutscenes. But yeah.

I'm going to start another play through of this tonight and see how I feel about it this time round after adoring it at release.

EDIT: I'm a few hours in to my replay, and well, I still absolutely adore this game. In fact, maybe even more than I did the first time round. I'd also forgotten just how beautiful it is for a PS3 game, man I can't wait to see what naughty dog come up with on the PS4.

Any tips for taking out the big infected guys? Only encountered a couple so far but both times took a lot of dying and most of my shotgun ammo. My main issue seems to be having not enough space, which makes me think my approach is wrong.

A single molotov will take them out usually, let em burn.

I found two was required on normal, at least.

The bit later on where you're facing two of them is just a pain.

The second one you encounter (in the game, not the above encounter) you don't have to engage btw, just run to the exit.

Hmm... the second one I think was one of the ones that gave me trouble (unless I forgot one and it was actually a third encounter) but that was also because there was a bunch of runners. If I could have made it out without taking him on, that would have been good but I ended up using the nail bombs and shotgun. Took him down but only because I got lucky eventually and he decided to go for a walk after the bomb hit him. Actually on a couple of goes I tried running and he always seemed to find me ridiculously quickly.

Thanks for the Molotov tip. Will try going with those.

I speak of the one you face after turning on a generator.

Yeah, that's the one. Running caused me trouble because

I had to get a key card on the journey to the exit and the place was full of runners. He always got me eventually. When I finally made t through that bit, it was by staying by that generator and defending my space until they were all dead.

                    Ah

I think I had grabbed the card prior to turning on the generator so I had already dealt with some of the other stuff that was there and was able to make my escape without issue.

Wow, I'm 50% in tonight on my first sitting, I forgot how much this game pulls me in when I play it.

It's actually just under six mate, obviously you romp through it a bit quicker when it's not your first time!

Some going though. I will play it again at some point.

Found a magical pair of vanishing roller skates. It's actually a testament to the game that it's the very first glitch of any kind I have encountered. Just starting the
                                section now.
