Nothing to add aside from a quick, one off, factual statement:

GT6 is the best driving simulator ever. If you disagree, you're wrong I'm afraid. Just completed the Golds for the Goodwood Festival of Speed & loving the atmosphere and details. The open wheel car you get as a gift is a real peach too!

Agreed. Although why did they limit the friend leaderboards to licenses?

Thanks for the thoughts people, looking forward to playing at X-mas did the 1.2 patch install. Tried the first round the track bit slightly after entering my name. Can really notice the weight of the car.

I trust that online leaderboards for the tracks is in this time though?
I echo this to a certain degree. If Polyphony only focused on the A.I for a patch, then it would make it a much more competative experience against the A.I. Really wish the GT team would look at Ferrari F355 Challenge in respect to A.I racing. Sounds like they have looked a bit at it being more aggressive for GT6 which is good to hear.

        On the other hand

Fortunately there is online mode which can be fun and competative racing, especially time attacks for rally seasonals and other cars to make competative racing. Hoping the online races will be more balanced than GT5. Too many times peoples cars online had the same PP as myself but their cars were infintely faster, which should not be the case they should be a similar speed by all rights. Plus there are so many different types of races and cars which add good variety.

Is there any rewards system or stats for the online mode?

Now I will admit to not being the World's best racer by any stretch of the imagination. In GT5 there were one or two of the later events that I abandoned (the length of them and the car choice).

I started off OK on this cleared the first two sets of events and am now seriously struggling which in my opinion is way too soon in a GT game. My current Nemesis being the Matterhorn Night Race as I seem to get further behind the lead car even on maximum PP for the race. I suspect I may have to resort to something I was able to employ on some of the GT5 Seasonals, which was to get a heavy high power car and add ballast before reducing Power to get down to a PP level. I suspect the GT6 handling may get in the way of that plan though.

The Lunar Missions took a little thought. The main problem (not suprsingly I suppose) is the low gravity. Go over a jump and you are more likely than not going to nose dive into the Lunar surface which does nothing for your mission time. Having said that I did complete the (first?) three missions with a Gold.

I had two pre-order car packs via Amazon, so those cars are currently in the Stockyard for use in an Emergency only! I also got the Million Credit Boost which I have also managed to avoid using so far, though the fact it is there is sometimes a little tempting! Seeing the price of buying Credits (not a big fan of this idea in games), I suppose it was a good value pre-order bonus as a Million Credits will set you back ?7.99! I wonder how many will resort to the ?39.99 option!

My first priority after finishing the "Tutorial" was to drive round Mount Panorama (Bathurst) in my mildly tuned Honda Jazz (or Fit as it is called in the game). Nice to see that track included in the game.

For a departure from previous games, I assume... though I never tried it (it never used to be an option), was the ability to remove all the upgrades on the car. Does this also happen with the Weight Reductions?

I must have covered getting for a hundred miles on my C7 Corvette. That has been my go-to car so far.

The inertia of the car does conspire against you on S bends when driving at the limit, as it is rather easy to spin out if you don't have the Stability on, as became painfully obvious when I first tried the Dino or the X-Bow on the Goodwood Hillclimb (I have yet to do them again. Also noticeable in the third block of races and admittedly I used the Stability for the first three races. Managed to avoid it with the Delta Integrale in the first Night race.

The Cone races (other than the Lunar one) seem to frustrate me so far!

I was pleasantly surprised to see that what were previously Used Cars are now available directly from the Dealerships at 0 miles, so all cars are available when you want them. I used one on the race that required a car from 1979 or before (seconf Block of races) by buying the sub-10,000 credit Honda and modding it to almost 200 HP (enough for the races, though there were a couple of cars to avoid in the opponent list so I did have to reload to avoid them). On reflection the Original Golf GTi may have been a better choice.

I got wise to those drive off into the distance opponents in the Seasonals on GT5 when trying to reduce PP for a race to maximise credits, so am not averse to a reload of the race to get a slight advantage. One that sprins to mind in GT5 is the old Ferrari Dino which did seem difficult to catch in the races I was pitted against it.

There was a remove all upgrades option in GT5 - was patched in after they started selling cars as DLC.

Pretty sure the longest Endurance race in GT6 is 30 minutes, the longer ones are expected to be patched in next year

Know exactly what you mean, think it was the NA races I struggled with until finding exactly the right car. Once you get above PP500 some are real twitchy such as the R8 Anniversary one I tried. Love the Vision Merc, have upgraded that quite a bit.

When on the menu press start and the car settings option at the top right allows you to remove upgrades

Go to status at the left of the menu and at the bottom tells you your most used car and the miles etc. Mine is my white Supra, love that car, handles and brakes like a boat compared to most modern stuff though

Really hate the cone tests etc, so annoying, the one in the NSX I got bronze quickly and moved on

On the cone runs, I completed, I was more than happy to get a Bronze. Fortunately it was far easier to find enough on the Moon!

My PSN is RogsR34UK. Hopefully PSN will behave, as I lost a Friend Request when I accepted it a few weeks ago (ought to note the PSN name in future). The last one I received seemed to go through OK.

I had a little play on another of my Accounts (set up courtesy of Birthday Tickets in GT5 and now used in conjunction with my Main to buy cars from the Online Dealer for sending if the need arises) and got the DLC cars, but not the credits (wasn't unduly surprised by that). On one of the National B License tests, on that other account, I think I got a 14.807 seconds on a 15.8 second test... I must be improving! My Jazz/Fit is currently sitting with 205 HP there.

Head up boys n girls don't use the Stockyard as at the moment has a glitch where cars disappear. See below from GT Planet.

for all who are following this ive been at a fix for what happened to me for hours and there is only one way of getting these certain cars back and that is to delete your entire career and start fresh ... so im back to never been in one race but got the anniversary cars back at the cost of...

                        Thanks for posting that.

I just loaded the game. The Stockyard said 10 cars, so I loaded it... nothing inevitably!

I Quit the game immediately and deleted the main save (don't touch the Backup). I reloaded the game and confirmed to reload from Backup. Loaded the Stockyard and (huge sigh of relief) the 10 cars were there so I quickly transferred to the Main Garage.

If you feel that the money gathering in the game is insufficient for your needs you can cheat (courtesy of Gamefaqs)!

You get the Mercedes Vision GT car as a Gift which enables you to buy more, so if you got the Million Credit Pre-Order Bonus you buy another. If not no matter just take the Gift. Make sure you are not in the car. Any other car will do.

Spend as many of your remining Credits as possible on cars or tuning.

Quit Safely (I usually do a Manual Save before quitting, for safety).

Go to your Game Data Utility Folder in the XMB and delete the V1.01 data (mine was about 4200 Mb). Avoid the Saved Data Utility folder at all costs!

Restart the game without doing the Update so you get the base version of the game. Go to your garage and sell your spare (or only) Mercedes Vision GT. It will have a number rather than the name, though it will say Mercedes. This will give you a silly amount of Credits but it will max out at 20 Million which is all you are allowed to have in the base version (not sure of V1.01).

                        Quit safely.

Reload the game and do the Update (only downside is having to re-download 1.2Gb).

You now have 20 Million Credits.

I did this so that I could get the new Ferraris (though not the 250 LM of course) and some of the other new additions. There are still way too many expensive cars to buy! Don't forget to replace your Mercedes Vision GT (if necessary) in case of future needs!

After my previous struggles I found some cars to use to help me progress (pre-money trick). Using the Stabilty Control I have alos now Golded the first three Goodwood (3 Race) events (so three new cars - the Plymouth Ghia, Rocket and Corvette Sting Ray Racer Concept).

Nice trick, in V1.01 the CR limit was raised to 50 million credits.
Some of the International A level races are pretty tough I'm finding, scraping through most just by a couple of seconds back to second place.

I am still on International B, but am winning comfortably.

I tested my fully modded (engine at least) C7 Corvette on the big oval Route. It was pulling 279mph on the level with a max of 283mph on the brief downhill stretch. On the Supercar races (IB) on lap 1 at La Sarthe I was surprised to see the Corvette hit 235 mph with drafting before the first chicane.

I now have half stars on Nat A and Int B. Saw the Trophy for doing 111 Metres per second courtesy of the Vette.

My current three go-to cars are that Vette, the '95 (R33) Skyline GT-R and the BMW M Coupe. The TVR Tuscan Speed 6 did a good job on the British Lightweights (weight increased to 1200Kg to get more power available).

Not sure what to use for that last Historic Race in Nat A. May have to resort to some more "creative accounting" to get one of the expensive options.

I have (I think) 58 cars as I haven't gone particularly mad in buying, 10 of those were from the DLC. The most expensive was that 7.5 million Ferrari.

How is the trophy list this time? My GT5 profile will forever be stuck at 91% as the final push to gold everything is beyond my ability with a controller. Nothing stupid like collecting 1000 cars for a trophy in GT6?

100 Cars looks to be the maximum for a Trophy.

                                Here is the list...
