bassman, I did post about the 02 thing in the headlines thread last night, spotted it over on GTPlanet.

Regarding the car prices, they do seem to be jumping around yes. In regards to your other questions, I'm using the DS3 now, tried my DFGT wheel and will probably go back to that at some point. I can't remember which cars I used for the challenges/trophies sorry (I've slept since then!) but I know I did the "win with a car 100PP lower than the limit" one as early as possible in the game.

The Like The Wind races are great and usually pretty close.

Didn't know about the 500 car limit thanks.

One tip for the two race suit achievements - you can buy them all in one go (if you have enough CR) the achievements will pop and you can quit the game without saving and losing any Credits.

      Thanks for linking that!

I decided to try it last night and lo and behold, it worked a treat. I had completed the 1st 2 stages of the career along with all of the Goodwood stages thus far and the first Moon mission before I got that ?20 Million.

I love the unlock structure of GT but I've played through every entry in the series and despite completing nearly quarter of GT6, I had still not enough money to buy a Nissan GTR. Enough was enough, I can now drive some of the cars I want and enjoy a more open career mode. Don't feel bad about that.

I got the "David and Goliath" Trophy with one of the earlier races on the Cape Ring with a Mazda Furai. As it happened, I needn't have bothered as I used my fully modded (only to the engine) C7 Corvette on the last "Like the Wind" race (Route X). I had Nitrous set to 10% and used just under half until I hit 292 MPH (with drafting or should it be draughting) on the downhill stretch. I used the remainder on the other straight. The car was doing 283 MPH without the Nitrous and 287 MPH with. I finished over 20 seconds ahead in around 4:08. The PP of the Corvette was 630 with the race maximum being a PP of 750!

I did set the Nitrous to 50% to see how fast the Corvette would go, but started using it too soon and only hit 300 MPH. I don't think it managed to get into top gear (7th)!

With that 4:08 time on that Route X race, you could probably fit in 14 runs an hour. That ought to be good for around 600K an hour. I hear one of the NASCAR races may be more remunerative (though I suspect boring).

I was doing (badly!) one of the high PP races (720) at Willow Springs (not my favourite track!) and was stupidly far away from the first place driver at the beginning of the penultimate lap and after some more bad driving caught up at the beginning of the last lap, which pretty much proves the AI slows down if you are doing badly. I did even worse at the 'Ring (I hate that track in a fast car) and was about 20+ seconds away from the leader at the start of the second lap. First lap I recorded a rather bad 8:10. About half way through lap 2 I caught up the first place driver and was able to overtake and win. Time for lap 2 was 8:20, so I was 10 seconds slower and caught up 20 seconds in the process!

I may resort to a last trip to V1.00 to get the Suits (just to get enough cash for future purchases). After my V1 trips I am still well short of the garage limit!

I'd love to know what the latest update did to prices as that seems to be the only thing it does.

I meant to post about the 'Ring, the track seems really narrow and the kerbs don't help, in a low fast car it's a really tough lap when pushing it.
Sure you'll have enough money from winning races to not worry about the money glitch. Unless you want to do a Pokemon and "own 'em all" or want all the ?20M CR cars in your garage.

I ama bit of a Pokemon collector with the GT games, though I have never caught them all on Pokemon! I did "catch" them all in GT4... being a perfectionist (with help) they all had to have 0 miles on the clock.

I agree about the width of the 'Ring. I think they also adopted Forza grass didn't they. As soon as you touch the edge you are pulled off track!

What is it with the Dirt races? I thought my road car was the problem but it turns out that you have to be on the track (don't wander) to even stand a chance of getting anywhere. Bizarre really because on a tarmac track your car keeps accellerating if you take a slight excursion.

Well, I have 287 cars!! Plus some cars I can sell for extra cash if I need it!! I'll probably never use the majority of those as I prefer the more sedate variety of car. For that read normal road cars!

It is all very well with the initial sales. It will be more interesting to see what the total sales read like. I am guessing it won't be a match for that Pokemon X/Y figure.

I suppose the release of the PS4 won't be helping the sales of the game.

DavidH did you manage to get that Adrenaline Pack OK?

I did get it thanks, couple of guys on 02 were kind enough to PM me codes.

The kerbs at the 'Ring are like ice too if you're in something pretty low, very tricky track now.

Meant to ask, did you ever find a car good enough for
              Historic Int B race series
because I can't seem to find one up to the job without spending millions on an old GT40 or Chaparral 2J or something.

I have all the oldies but they seem way down on PP compared to the spec for the race. I wonder if there are any race versions of suitably old stock cars that would be better. I noticed that PD cheated with Race Mods this time around by making them a separate purchaseable car.

At least the 2J is a lot cheaper than it was in V1.00 where you had to pay 15 Million for it. That is assuming there was no price rise with the latest micro-update.

One choice would be the Ferrari P4 (seemed to get on better with that on GT5) one of the silly priced motors that PS seem to love! I'll have to see how much I can boost it with upgrades.

The biggest pain with reverting to V1 for money/cars is that it takes an absolute age to get all the icons back into the garage. I eventually noticed the Select All option which at least makes things easier.

I hope at some point they will enable car sharing like GT5 which ought to make life easier.

I noticed the post about night race issues at GTP (I'm RogsR34UK there). I wish Willow Springs had some sort of markers on the edge of the track as it is a pit difficult to see where you are going without the Line on.

Ugh... Goodwood 5-3 (Red Bull X2010 Prototype). I found this to be tough. Bronze. Tail between legs.

I don't think ill ever silver this, let alone gold it. I was happy when I just managed bronze!

Got gold in all the Goodwood events. The red bull took about 40 attempts and only 2 made it to the top of the hill! Secured the gold but that track is too narrow for a car like that as it's soooo fast. Won't be replaying that combo again. Really enjoyed all the Goodwood events though and Lord March's love letters.

I did some tests with that Historic Series.

If you are a very good driver you may be able to get away with a fully upgraded Dodge Challenger '70 Race Car (215,000 credits + upgrades). It has two downsides though... it could do with a better turning circle (either that or horrendous understeer on the corners... I didn't try lowering the rear downforce) and you need to brake early as stopping doesn't seem to be part of its repertoire. Maybe more time driving it before racing would have helped.

Ferrari P4... too expensive though probably capable due to AI slowdown. With engine upgrade it is still short on PP.

Chaparral 2J. Fully upgraded it is down on PP compared to the Toyota 7, but second highest as far as I have found. It is more than fast enough to romp it. I managed over 200 Mph with drafting at Apricot Hill. Only has 3 gears! Seems a lot more manageable than it was in GT5.

Toyota 7 (1,950,000 Credits, so cheaper than the Chaparral). Fully upgraded it hits a PP of 751 (3Kg of Ballast sorted that... high HP seems more effective than lower weight). A bit more twitchy than the 2J (I did max out downforce which looked higher than a lot of cars). Romped home at Silverstone without any issues other than an excursion or "two".

I did buy the Camaro '70 Race Car, but it had a very low PP when upgraded. Though the cheapest option, it is probably not that viable.

I didn't even bother to try the Chaparral 2D or the '63 Corvette Race Car.

                        Edit...

I just had a play with that Challenger. I only ran the first race again with it as an experiment. The only real cornering problem is on Loews Hairpin at Monaco (first race). You should be OK with a decent line. Braking is better than I thought last time. With the line on in most cases you can go a few yards into the braking zone before hitting the brake. I had gearing set to 162 Mph but it was only doing about 140 on the Start/Finish "Straight" so a couple of notches down should improve the accelleration a bit.

I had two GT Mk IV's as the lead cars and these very kindly let me past on the last lap, though there was still a bit of swapping places when I fouled up a little. I won by less than a second but it looks as if the car has potential and will cost less 300K fully upgraded.

Another heads up. The BMW M4 is now available courtesy of the last micro-update. No interior so only blacked out. Cost was around 120K... didn't take that much notice when I bought it. Had a pleasant drive around Mount Panorama in it.

                        Edit... again...

You don't have to buy that BMW M4 Coupe. Do the Seasonal involving it and you get the car for Bronzing the course which is the Nurburgring GP. I Golded with about 3.5 seconds to spare. For that matter I Golded all the current Seasonals. Got a couple of Chrome type Paint Chips for my trouble as well.

Oh! well... I now have two BMW M4 Coupes. My Silver one from the Seasonal and a Red one with the (few available) upgrades fitted which boost the engine by 60 HP. You can fit Nitrous as well. Nothing else can be done to the car including wheels, so you are fairly limited with it.

I am not a fan of that new Focus ST as there is huge gap between (I think) 3rd and 4th gears. It didn't help with the Anniversary Seasonal, though I still Golded with ease.

Forgot to say I rolled the Furai a couple of times when racing it the other day. Also tipped the Ferrari P4 onto its side at Cote d'Azur! Had to wait for the game to reset the car before I could continue... needless to say I restarted or maybe tried another car!

And finally... one of the options on the Chevy El Camino...

Very similar to GTA-V, the love has been epic. What a cracking finish to a power house of fun in the form of the PS3.

How noticeable is the difference between the premium car models and the regular ones?

There isn't a normal and premium split this time around. Sure you have normal road cars and race cars and the ones inbetween but that's about it.
Thanks for the write up Bassman, will try some of those over the weekend.

I noticed last night that after 8 hours of actual driving I've still only won 1.5m credits. Real stingy payouts this time around, think my biggest payout has been 50k for winning a five race championship.

The M4 looks lovely, not driven it yet. Did one of the IA series contests last night, five races, all ten minutes or more each, two laps of the 'Ring in the dark wasn't much fun.
