Was way harder, but better for it. Roll on mid July

Gah! You had me thinking I'd actually have some new PS4 gaming next month Garny! I enjoyed the Alpha, I take it you get the Beta by preorder or something?

Yep. Then just link your PSN to a Bungie account, and stick in the code on Bungie's site. Sit back and wait for them to get back to you with an email. No doubt the 15th-16th next month.

What were your tech issues? I never had any problems and spent quite a few hours on it over the weekend.

It just kept booting me out, I even went as far as checking my net connection and trying a few other games online to see if it was that, but ping was good as was down and up. Am on virgin media so fiber optic connection and it was plugged into the router so god knows what was going on.

Are they going to add a story into this? The games great but if its just go fetch all the time I can see it getting old fast. Being able to do objectives by killing bad guys running away a bit then going back and they have re-spawned seems abit cheap.

Also I feel like it needs a solo intro section as when I started playing other people where blasting the bad guys and I pretty much got to my destination without danger at all.

I guess these are things borderlands does well, that hopefully this will before release. After all for an Alpha I feel its a great start.

                        Don't think so ..

It looks like it will be more like Guildwars than Borderlands in that regard. Events will spontaneously be available, they will be completed, and then they will reappear again a few minutes later. I can't see anything that looks like a campaign as such. To be fair even Borderlands does that to a degree, boss characters are always in the world and you can go and kill them without actually being on the mission. They then re-spawn 10 minutes later. There are of course areas that you cant get too as well unless you are on a specific mission. Destiny may well do this too, it may not.

It will have a story. What we got in the Alpha was no more than a Diablo 3 bounty mode, one pvp map, one strike and a small story mission from early in the game. The fetch quests are just for the exploration mode. Also there is no way we will be spending much time in one location as small as this in the finished game. Ill be off doing the story/strikes then come back at the end game for some hunting around, grinding etc.

There's mention of other areas within Earth and the solar system

                            Old Chicago/ Mars/ Moon/ Venus

and if they're anything the size of the alpha version of Old Russia, which also had areas that were inaccessible with invisible walls masked by godlike enemies which were unkillable, than I'll be quite pleased.

                            A mention about guns.
In the alpha, hand cannons were made redundant by scout rifles and found really no benefit (other than style points) on having a 6 shooter with nerfed range/ shots per second/ recoil after shot and longer reload time.

I wouldn't go as far as saying shotguns were useless, but the impact of fusion rifles with its one shotting (from full charge) ability at close to mid range was too useful.
Although the saving grace of the shotgun is not having to charge a shot.

I just loved the OCD'ness of picking up a new toy every so often, and hope there's an ability to trade gear with other players.

the shotguns main role is definitely pvp, hunter and warlocks can easly be one shotted by powerful shotguns, and 1 melee hit extra for titan, so very Halo MP. I found some use for it after destroying the shields on elite mobs it can take them down in 2 shots.

Hand cannon apart from looking cool, have high critical damage and very, very high impact for staggering, all fairly useless in pvp and heavy shielded elite mobs (I found the reload was to slow, and the elite mobs got their shields back by the time I could get another round off), my warlocks setup is pulse rifle(halo DMR) buffed with armour for quick reload and ammo carry, with a shotgun when I have melee to energy suck for grenades.

So, finished the beta effectively now. It's very clear that the Alpha did represent the final game generally as bar some tweaks you generally just get a handful more missions here. I enjoyed it,though not looking forward to yet another run through the same missions when full game hits. It's really cemented in me that the game is worth buying and will be good fun to go through in much the same way Borderlands is. It's also cemented though that I've no interest in the dlc as I really can't imagine finishing the game and wanting to sinkendless hours more in. It plays really well but Bungie's ability to create generic, disinteresting universes continues and the universe has no pull on me. The Strike missions are easily the star by the looks, standard pvp modes are a waste of time as the frames just aren't there. So yeah, a worthy buy but after two samples I'm expecting a 7 or 8 rated experience for myself. Good enough though.
