Hard Crota down! Got the new scout rifle as a reward, so have 3 of the new primaries already and still have a Crota battle and a full run to do with my alts. We didn't do it quite as shown in the video either.

The hunters take turns going invisible, going to stand on the totem, then back onto the rock when they are about to become visible. Second hunter turns invisible, and repeat.
However, last night we did it differently. The totems will only turn red once enemies on side one despawn if anyone stands close to the areas where the ogres spawn. So instead of hiding on the rock, hide somewhere else, and have the two people who go across the bridge kill the ogres by themselves. We didn't have any warlocks on last night's fireteam, so we're not sure if the totems will turn red if someone revives themselves once the enemies on the first side respawn.
All it takes is at least one Warlock. One guy is crossing over (a non warlock), and hides behind the left pillar next to the plate. No enemy will go there for some reason (I had one or 2 thralls actually engage me just once, but I didn't panic and melee'd them). You don't even have to kill the Gatekeeper. I did it but the second one apparently just walked himself to death.
The rest, who's still at the starting area, wipes. Wait till everything despawns and use Radiance. Now its just exactly like the old cheese; just snipe everyone and the Ogres.

We completed another full run last night on hard. We changed our approach further from our first completion. This time, instead of using a titan bubble on the left to safeguard our swordbearer from boomers whilst on the bridge, we had one person allocated (from the middle) to snipe them (not kill them) to keep their attention away from our swordbearer. We also use the bottom right room to kill ogres from. Get everyone to stand on the door frames and you can take out the first ogre that appears from one of the doors in that room almost instantly. After almost 3 full run throughs I have all the new primaries except the new hand cannon, which isn't very good anyway, given the crappy perks and less than stellar stats. Seems that Fatebringer is still the king of HCs, I use it through most of hard mode. The only one I really wanted was the new scout rifle, which I now have. From reading around it sounds like Crux of Crota hasn't been added to the loot table yet. Most likely a deliberate decision until they fix all the cheese methods, which only really apply to the bridge section now.
Also, here's something I discovered last night too whilst playing as my titan - Weapons of Light bubble will regen all your health during the Crota battle. If you have a hunter on your team, bring the knights energy to almost dead in the starting middle room then get the hunter to use golden gun to finish them off to produce loads of orbs.Last edited by bcass; 24-01-2015, 09:39.

Lot of complains about the new crota primary weapon being a bit **** too which is disappointing.
Finally got my first character up to 32 so will be running the hard raid this weekend, just need to max out my exotic chances this week first, so plan on running atheon as much as I can over this weekend in the hope I can finally get a ghorn. Nightfall just gave me another exotic armour this week.

I'll wait till I've fully powered up all the new raid weapons before forming an opinion, but first impressions are that they aren't that great outside the new raid. The stats and perks on the new hand cannon are particularly disappointing following the brilliance of Fatebringer.

Crux has been added somehow. But you'll need to have Glowhoo, so its a second or third reward. Its been dropped a few times so far.

I found hard mode not that much more difficult now as the new DLC weapons do a lot more damage to Atheon. You have to remember when people where first running the vault they where all around lvl 26-28 as the only way to get to 30 originally was with vault armour, being 30 makes it quite easy if you have a team that knows what there doing.

We started Crota hard mode Tuesday and managed to get up to the bridge we struggled to get through the lamps and the bridge but after a bit of a battle we got there late on and called it a night. We all came back in last night and tried again on the bridge encounter this was pretty easy with a few climbers and before we new it we where across the bridge with not much fuss. The next challenge was running the gauntlet and taking down the shriekers, this really didn't seem that much more difficult than the normal mode and most of us got the run perfect on the first go. The death singer was the next bit to do, and a few wipes and a few rockets saw her drop pretty fast, apart from a few more shielded knights and wizards i wouldn't say she was much harder.
Next came Crota a few of us jumped to the tower to stock up on some heavy ammo synth, (to make Crota kneel you have to hit him with rockets and he can only be damaged with a sword). While doing this you all have to contend with boomer knights wizards and exploding thralls, that all kill you very easily. You really needed to time your sword well too as Crota will kill you instantly if you don't get out of his way fast, go to late and you wont get enough hits in.
The first time we tried Crota we got two perfect runs on him and needed one more sword run to finish him, the two ogres came in and we took these down pretty easily, but we where all running low on energy. All we needed now was a bit of luck and to regroup up top to try a third round of rockets, but boomer's got two of us in the back as we tried to regroup and we had to start again.
time and time again we messed up the timing the guardian taking the sword went too early every-time and crota made shot work of him, a bit dejected we stopped and formed a better plan, four rockets and one person shooting primary stopped crotas health rejuvenating if the rockets didn't hit him quick enough the sword holder got the timing down and we started to run it like a well oiled team.
Bubbles shields where popped with precision, rockets hit there mark and the sword holder and titan shielding him got there timing down perfectly. Twice we took the sword to Crota, and got the required hits. We finished the ogre phase with little effort and went to regroup again but one guy buggered up his jump and ended up scrabbling about in the pit trying to get to safety. We where so close to wiping again but somehow he dodged his way back to safety, We prepared our rockets took the sword bearer down and took aim at crota, rockets flew and crota was on his knees, three good sword hits caused him to enrage and call in the oversoul we had 15 seconds to take him out now or we would wipe. a second volley of rockets brought crota to his knees again, and one swipes with the sword saw him crumble, we had beaten the hardest part of the game.
This game is at its best when six friends are all working together to pull off some of the best team work I've ever seen in a videogame, and becuase of this Destiny's raids are some of the most rewarding parts of a video game I've ever played, nothing beats raiding with a good group on this, so i can ignore the niggles destiny has because the raids in destiny are awesome.
