After reading this topic I bought myself a copy and am currently waiting for delivery!

Although I still have a few questions:

I managed to play Jap F-Zero without any problems will I have any trouble with this one due to the language?

Does someone have a guide to playing the JAP version with menu translations and important things?

Does the game have progressive scan?

    Thanks

    Paul

You shouldn't have any trouble with the language, it's simple enough to play especially if you've gone through the first game

There?s an extra layer of depth which obviously is being missed without being able to understand the text. There?s a lot of descriptive information on items and enemies within the Log menus for example which would no doubt be humorous and interesting? providing some background on what makes the many foes tick etc. Also you will miss out on the daily mail from the president and various other characters? a little like the dairies from the first game?

However that isn?t to mean without the above spoils the game. Not at all. It merely just adds to the already compelling, soothing and totally addictive experience that awaits. If anything you will have to rely on your own wit alittle which has the potential to add even more enjoyment.

Ultimately, you?ve done yourself proud getting this.

out of sheer ignorance, I can't finish the first damn game. That last boss that looks like a huge furry frog with tiny stump legs keeps decimating my entire group. Any hints? What's it's damn weak spot anyone?

chuck 'em in his face in small groups of ten. as he is about to lick/shrug 'em off, call them back. don't take too many pikmin unless you're comfortable controlling a huge group.

he reappears in #2 altough he is far, far easier.

The best way is to take a a couple of yellow pikmin with a few red. Get the Yellow pikmin to carry bombs, and make sure the red pikmin are well back when you throw the bomb-carrying pikmin. A direct hit should render the beastie unconscious for a few moments and this is when you bombardon him with the red. Do this a few times and your have him/her/it beaten in no time at all

Reckon 8 is possible though, so someone should try for that.

                    This game finally arrived yesterday.

                    OMGOGMGOMGOGMGOGMOMGOGMGOMGOGMGOMGOMGOGMGOMGOGMOGM GOGMGGMG

I'm getting that 'this is without a doubt the best game I've ever played' feeling.

The trouble is the last time I felt that was playing Wind Waker, and that feeling later subsided when I realised the game wasn't nearly as good as I thought it was.

I don't know if I can see that happening with Pikmin 2 though. It might be that the game IS as good as I think it is. I'm discovering new stuff all the time. It's genius. The game doesn't even feel broken to me, like the review said. In fact, I really like the way there are dungeons to enter. 'FINAL FLOOR!!'.

I think I'll ride the happiness vibes I'm getting from the game and be cynical and critical in a few months (although I've barely found anything to be critical of - I think the fonts are a bit naff, and that's about it).

The heavy Pikmin are probably the coolest Nintendo characters ever.

I wish I knew what my boss was saying in his mailings.

I love how sometimes, the eggs aren't full of nourishing yolk but terrifying larval versions of the egg-carrying seahorse thingies, and I love how the Pikmin get so frightened by this you have to call in reinforcements because they're too busy freaking out to attack.

Before I started playing I just watched the menu screen for about 20 minutes. So cool.

I wonder how long I can go on adding random sentences about different things I like in this game.

                    Probably quite a long time.

Thanks to Dr_Manhattan for the play asia tip (^_^) i now have a full set of pikmin cards.

It looks like the packs are fixed so if you get all 6 different packs you get a complete set of 30.

Ill be adding a pikmin 2 card-e section to my site, not tried the games out yet ill do that a bit later.

Anyone else think this is Nintendo's best game since Ocarina?

My current favourite thing about it is how I just completed it thinking 'that was a bit longer than Pikmin 1, plus it had about five times as many ideas, enemies and things to do. So me = satisfied.'

Then the game revealed the following:

1.) There is still more storyline because of a plot twist.

2.) I have actually only played less than 50% of the whole game, and there's still tons of stuff I haven't seen yet.

Add to that the fact that I haven't even touched the challenge modes yet. Or the e-reader games. Or the 2 player mode (which actually doesn't look that good, but never mind).

I love Pikmin 2 very much.

Mr James Harvey Sir, you are the man.

What you've just typed there is exactly how i feel (well, i wouldn?t actually say Pikmin 2 was Nintendo's best since OOT, but definitely their most beautifully realized. It just screams "Nintendo quality" to me. Seems to expel a sense of developer love. Hell, i can imagine the reason it was delayed so often was simply because the Developers enjoyed developing it so much and didnt want to see it go )

About the game actually revealing a plot twist and actually being only about 50% complete blew me away too. As with yourself, i was content with my Pikmin 2 experience... the credits were simply wonderful also. But then... it was like "Oh my god weeee!!" and so much more to do, see, collect and conquer. Fantastic

And the challenges... wow. Then there is the little thing called Multiplayer, (which i tried for the first time yesterday) woah.

The thing which still impresses me the most however... has to be the sheer quality of the enemy logs

You mean the Piklopedia? Can you read Japanese or do you use the Action Replay to make it readable? If it's the latter, I need to buy an Action Replay disc quick...

I was trying to translate some of the object titles... I thought it was funny how Olimar thinks a yellow marble is a 'channeling crystal' and the battery is a 'reactor'. I was trying to translate what he calls Mario's key- the closest I could get was 'The Key' or 'That key everyone's talking about', or something like that.

Oh yeah, and I think I managed to translate a bit of the dialogue from when you get the Rocket Punch- 'One... two... FINISH!!' This is ace. So I really want to be able to read the in-game text.

What sort of cool things does it say in the Piklopedia?

I played a bit tonight... I only managed to get one artifact though. The rest I lost when I lost all my pikmin to the Queen Bulborb- not the first one, but the one you meet in her foul nest, when she's secreting those evil, drone-like baby bulborbs who turn into nectar when you kill them. That **** was nasty. I spent the rest of the night just raising pikmin and trying to grow as many purple as I can, so I can get her the next time.

One of the mails I got was from a strange shadowy figure, and it had a URL in it for a secret section of the japanese nintendo home page... I'm looking at it now. It's really interesting.

So even though I only actually completed less than 0.5% of the game tonight, I'm still satisfied.

Can you imagine being a kid playing this game? It would last you all year (games are harder when you're young), and would probably be your favourite thing ever. Plus, it kicks off in a snowy area. When I was a kid I used to think all games should have a snowy section as the first level, because you get games at christmas. Pikmin 2 delivers!!

Sadly Mr James Harvey Sir, i'm merely referring to the visual elegance of those enemy logs. The actual descriptions are unknown to me. I plan to purchase the US version when it is finally released to gain full advantage of those little beauties. Just imagine the moment... Here i am... already totally captivated by the whole pikmin 2 experience, already blown away by the amount of depth on offer, the amount of charm and quality throughout. Then.. THEN I play in English and an entire additional layer of depth is revealed due to the text! The mails. The enemy/item logs. The in-game text. It will probably make my head explode. Cant wait.

Pikmin 2, for me, is one of those games where I cant sing its praises enough tbh. A few pages back or whatever Ive already done the lovey dovy thing? but i now actually enjoy the game even more! How it always allows you to take your time. How it pushes you to grow those pikmins. How it rewards you for doing so. Utterly priceless. Admittedly, I haven?t played it quite as much recently due to spending far too much time with my beloved GBA SP, but im around 25hours play time and on day 38 I think it was? and still have more then 40% to go. Half the beauty is just chilling with the little blighters...

Where?s the best place to build those purple Pikmin (which I must add, are sublime. My fav Pikmin without a doubt. Sure, they may be tough and buffed, but behind those eyes lays an innocent creature that is pure at heart. Bless em. I want one. ). Ive already used up all the available purple Pikmin from the flowers in the first dungeon on the 2nd stage sadly? but since have practically lost all of them. Only have about 6 purple Pikmin! Madness?
