So, in case I already own an ordinary router with W-lan support, will I still need to get the Nintendo USB WiFi-adapter to play online with my DS? (it supports 802.11b frequency, or whatever it is)
And any information on what connection is required for games to run smoothly (minimum lag)?

Sorry, if this type of question has been answered before...

I've seen the "WiFi Dongle" and as far as I'm away, you plug it into a USB port (which has internet connection of course) and it send the WiFi/hub/internet to your DS.

Is this the case? Or is it more complex?
That's pretty much it, although there are apparently a few initial set-up screens to go through on the PC.

Yes, the dongle turns your wired broadband connection into a wireless hotspot for your ds to connect to.

If you already have a wireless network installed there will be no need to buy the dongle (as far as we know so far), and the same goes for hotspots at train stations, local mcdonalds etc. They should be free to connect to and play

          EDIT: Beaten to it!

Im so glad nintendo are making every effort to make online connection easier. Im a total idiot when it comes to setting stuff like that up.

Nothing scarier than setting up a online game in japanese, PSO im looking at YOU.

On another note, is anyone getting one of these mario kart styli so they can make car noises while pretending to make him move

Hmm interesting, is it the exact same one, as the one i posted is only available from club nintendo & they only released it last week.

Dont know how stable it will be with mario sitting on the top.

Just noticed these four Japanese scans. Mario Kart DS is looking great.
I've bought every copy in the past. So this might tempt me to upgrade
my gameboy SP to a DS...!

Surely MarioKart will be played with the dpad and face buttons anyway... no need for a stylus!

I read that there will be a new Mario Kart DS pack out in the US in Nov.

Nintendo has announced that it will release a new Nintendo DS bundle that includes a copy of Mario Kart DS. The bundle will also introduce a new color for the DS, Hot Rod Red. Those who have yet to pick up a Nintendo DS will have good reason to now as the bundle will retail for $149.99, a savings of $15.

Besides the new color, the Hot Rod Red DS will come with a checkered flag wristband and special racing decals. A true gamer will ignore the thematic flair and get right into one of the most anticipated DS games yet. Mario Kart DS is the first game to make use of Nintendo's wi-fi service. With over 30 new and classic tracks, there are plenty of opportunities to find human opponents online and prove your racing skills.

Mario Kart DS and the bundle will be available on November 14th.
