That's what all emulators do afaik
i think it It's high level emulation, similar to the old n64 emu, ultraHLE, that converted N64 hardware calls to Glide calls. Normally emulators are a bit more complicated and amount to a bit of virtual hardware that runs as software , but does pretty much everything the original hardware did, which is more accurate, but slower.

it would only have done that for the graphics calls, not the other stuff like cpu, sound, joypads, saving, etc. so while MS may well be simply using a wrapper for the nvidia calls, that still doesn't explain the rest of the system - especially not the region issue that brought this side-topic up anyway.

Something bugs me about the whole 720p/1080i on old XBox games thing...

Xbox.com: Will there be any benefits to playing original Xbox games on my Xbox 360 console?Todd: Absolutely. One of the great things about gaming on Xbox 360 is the satisfaction of knowing that every game will be playable in high definition. We are now proud to reveal that this extends to the original Xbox games as well. Every original Xbox game will be upscaled to 720p and 1080i, and will take advantage of Xbox 360?s anti-aliasing capabilities, delivering a picture that is clearer and crisper than anything available on Xbox.
When it says 'upscaled', it doesn't really go into depth about what it means.

It could mean one of 3 things -

            1) The resolution is literally bumped up, PC style - Yay.

            2) It works like upscaling DVD Players where the 480p input is merely resized up to higher resolution, the source itself is still rendered in SD - boo.

            3) Runs at 480p within a 720p window, stretched, like XBox Quake 3 - boo.

I think this needs more clarification =/

looking at the side-by-side pics of halo2 on xbox and 360, I reckon it'll be upscaled like 2) and 3) (i.e. boo), as anyone who's played a ps or n64 game on their pc will know that pc-style resolution increase makes it look better, in the same way that playing a PC game at a higher resolution makes it look better - in that it's not simply upscaled like a video or something

If that is the case, it'll still look look better than straight 480p, and it'll be enhanced with 4xAA... it just won't be as good as native 720p.

This is pure speculation obviously, as the Q&A may have just got the terminology muddled. I suppose we shall find out for sure at the time.

Should be satisifed with any improvement at all I guess o.o

Wonder when the list will be updated?

What about Far Cry, Conker, GR2 + SS, Rallisport 2, Riddick & the MSN games!!!

                    Gah!

It's too late, I've sold everything I owned on the Xbox except OutRun 2 and Street Fighter Anniversary - both will never be sold! Come on Microsoft, where is the love?

Deep Lake is an OutRun 2 track, is it not? Not OutRun 2 Special Tours, and presumably not OutRun Coast to Coast (assuming this game even exists and is a next-gen arcade game).

                      Confusing.

I think that's just normal XBox Outrun 2 screwing up as it tries to load the second stage, as happens on some machines sometimes.

We for me Pro Evo 5 , Brute Force and HALO runs like a Joy. Ninja Gaiden black slows down in parts and yet is fine in others (when there far more happing).

Fable TLC is the best though, while it jerkys around a bit more, boy does it looked cleaned up and the textures so much better

Is it just me, or does the water in Halo 1 look completely different through the emulator?

Am playing through it again, shame the emu only supports 4:3 though. Looks odd on my nice new TV.
