Sorry if it's already been covered but I can't select the 2nd level of World Drill Tour.
I've completed the 1st level a few times but I can't select the 2nd level yet (its still greyed out), what do I need to do to be able to select level it?

You need to finish all of the worlds on Level 1 before Level 2 opens up.

I'm still stuck on Level 2 (1000m), very tough...

You need to do all the 1st levels and then beat the boss that opens up after this to gain access to the 2nd levels.

Has anyone got to the Special levels yet?
I also need help getting an excellent prize on Horror Night House and Druaga, coz I can't work out how to get them at all.

I'm still needing to clear that dang Hole of Druaga ~_~ I've been playing Mr Driller G instead since the time-attack and endless stages are more appealing than that pesky stage...

For the horror night house 'excellent' badges I think you need to clear the stages with no (or minimal) loss of health.

Nope. I've tried that and got nothing. I've done it without collecting any hearts too and still only got the normal prize. Maybe there's a time limit? But I'd think not.
I also did Level 2 of Druaga without taking any hits and didn't get an Excellent Prize.

Well, finally got the special stages open. The final challenge for stage 3 was remarkably easy. I just wish there was a way of unlocking it for permanent play ft:

score appears to be the key for all the 'excellent prize' stamps.

i can't remember whether there's a time bonus on horror night house, but it doesn't matter - you don't need it. HNH is one of the easier variants to rack up a score on because of the way you progress through levels.

every level on HNH requires you to capture a number of crystals (?) which are left by baddies you've exorcised. you score points both for the kill & the pick-up, but only the pick-up will take you to the next level. so rack up loads of kills and *avoid* the stones to start with - but not for too long. aim to kill about 3 times as many bad guys as you need to to finish the game & you'll get a good enough score.

the number of crystals required to move on from each level varies; be sure to check the requirement on entering the level (it's the 'X / Y' in the bottom left corner) & keep count. the only other strategy i can suggest that'll help is hoarding holy water; try not to use it until you've drilled down far enough to at least be able to see the next bottle. better still is to bring bottles & 'protected' blocks down with you...

my level 2 score was 268110 which was excellent enough!

Maybe for the Special levels, which are endless, but this definitely isn't the case for World Tour (complete without dying and get all air capsules), Star Driller (as World Tour but get all ? blocks too) and Drindy Adventure (don't die). Score possibly is the key to Horror Night House, but I think with Drindy Adventure you have to finish without taking a hit but also find the map.
I definitely have no clue how to get Excellent Prizes on the Special stages, but that probably is related to score/depth.

hmm... i disagree. you get bonus points for getting all ? blocks in star driller, as you do for not getting hit in that mode & world tour. you can see the bonus values in the breakdown of your score in the summary after finishing.

i don't think getting these bonuses is a goal in & of itself, it's just that without them you'd have to rack up impossibly high 'blocks drilled' scores.

Well, traditionally in the series you get a specific bonus for 'perfect air' so it makes sense that this will be part of the requirement.

                        Comment

sounds right... & i've a feeling your general driller knowledge is far greater than mine!

i'm not saying perfect air *isn't* a requirement; just that it's only used to give you bonus points, without which you won't get a high enough score for an excellent prize.

the distinction is important because it's possible to get all the bonus requirements (like perfect air, no hits, all special blocks, fast time) and not score high enough (in terms of blocks drilled) to get the prize.

but it *is* a theory, & it's one we can test if everyone posts their level world tour scores & whether they've got 'excellent prizes' or not. if anyone has an excellent prize but a lower score than someone else who doesn't have the 'special' stamp, then i'm wrong...

This thread awakes from 5 1/2 years of sleep to kick some butt!

Does anyone know how to get a stamp on the Special stages yet?

I've rediscovered my addiction and if I don't find out how to get them I think I might throw a bit of a tantrum and need to be put to bed with a milky drink and a musical night light.

I saw this thread and for a split second I though Che Musashi had returned

I swear that guy's dead, or kidnapped by aliens or some damn thing, because he just seemed to have dropped off the face of the planet.
