All of Devil May Cry's. I wish I'd never bought it because it still annoys me to think about it today.

I find myself constantly loosing to the cheap attacking patterns of Galgear in Super Valis IV. Usually you'll be short on health to make it all the way through his final transformation.

Castlevania ds has really got on my nerves recentley im pretty near the end and ive got to Death, hes a son of a bitch as he has this attack that fills the screen i wont spoil it but its devistateing if you dont know how to avoid it, and its not obviouse that its happening.

The worst bit is that it takes a good ten mins to get him to his weakened state so when he pulls this move out of his arse and catches you with it it really is a pain, I've tried it a number of times and just got fed up with dieing really near the end of the battle im sure i will finish it at some point but god is it frustrating.

Are there any bosses that dont really have attack patterns perhaps random movements and attacks?

            Would imagine that is frustrating

Even on Easy mode this boss was just the hardest boss in the world. I tried so many times with a mate to win, and the best we could manage was one round. Not impressed!
The witch in the red clothing? That's I-no

Try Guilty Gear X, Dizzy is a bitch.

Have never been able to beat the Bangai-O boss, I can get close but have never managed to defeat him. Haven't tried for a long long time, the save game is still kicking about somewhere though.

                With some reservations.

A good boss will simply force you to bring together all the skills you ought to have learned by that point in the game in order to defeat it. As long as you've figured out the system behind the game then it neednt be difficult to string together manouvers and basic tactics to defeat it.

Unfortunately most bosses arent like this, they force you to learn patterns that you'll never need again, tactics that are otherwise worthless, they'll go against the rules you've managed to infer in the game so far (such as "hitting something deals damage"). And they suck because of it, breaking up the flow of a game in order to deal out set piece battles or un-needed difficulty spikes so you don't complete it so soon.

                I'm not a Boss person

Another one for Devel May Cry, that game just didn't like me and for some reason i never got anywhere with it, the first boss the scorpion thing was such a bastard i have never got past this and have since never played another devil may cry game since.

respect to those that kick arse at this game, but for me it was just to hard

Only bosses in history that I've never found a way to defeat are two of the level 50 bosses in FFXI, Gerjis the tiger and a pair of raptors. There are added complications due to the fact it costs time and effort on the part of three players to be able to even attempt it, so these are also the only bosses in history where I've completely given up.

I've eventually beaten everything else that's ever caused me a problem, notably the Bangai-o boss (hardest ever in my opinion - even with invincibility on it shows how knife-edge the timing really is) and the final 'Dante Must Die' Vergil in DMC3.

Snap! I came out of the cinema from seeing one of the rings films (Fellowship, maybe), enjoyed it so much I went and bought the game, as it had had some good reviews (Edge gave it an 8, I think).

Got it home started playing as Legolas and I too, got stuck on the Cave Troll. It takes so long to retry that section and I must have played it, what, fifty times in a row, I gave up.

Must go back and beat that git and finish it (heard the rest is easy) then trade the bastard.

The DMC bosses were interesting - it took me a while to beat the first scorpion boss but after that I got into the swing of things and finished the game. None of my friends ever got passed that first boss.

Project X was also a bit tricky - the only way I could beat the level 2 boss was to 1-life my way there so I had the invulnerability for the boss. Unfortunately the game crashed during level 3 so I never saw the next boss.

                        Blood Money - bloody impossible.

The Cave Troll mentioned above is another one like the Scorpion boss in DMC. Once you get it it's easy, but it's a while before you raise your game enough to survive.

Duke in King Of Fighters Maximum Impact. After about half an hour trying to beat him, I had a moment of clarity - i.e "what the **** am doing playing this game?" and switched off. it is sooooo frustrating. It seems that the AI is such that if you whip his hide in the first round, he somehow comes back harder in the next two. He has unlimited MAX meter, can do an invisible projectile that wipes more than 50% energy and that hits even if you are on the deck down after being hit, and can juggle you with no possibility of escape if close to the wall.

To cap it all off the character is so lacklustre in terms of design it is untrue. At least Rugal and Geese look the part - Duke just looks a bit of a knob really.

Oh God don't mention FF bosses. All those special buggers you need to beat after you finish FFX.

I used to love boss battles but I just don't have the patience for them any more. They are either easy but seriously drawn out (Mario & Luigi) or they kick my ass and I can't be bothered spending the time to figure them out. That says more about my current gaming habits than the quality of the bosses - there's probably nothing wrong with the boss battles if you have the patience for them.

The only boss battles recently that I found challenging and actually really enjoyed were the bosses in DMC3. They seemed to strike the right balance of hard, yet rewarding. Having said that I only ever played through that game on normal.

I did feel a huge amount of pride taking down the Weapons in FFVII.
